Raglan Road or Boathouse?

Trying to decide between dinner at Raglan Road or Boathouse for the night we go to Downtown Disney. Is it possible to check out the unusual water craft Boathouse has on display, even without a reservation? Is one restaurant more convenient than the other to get to from the boat launch that comes from Port Orleans? I'd love any advice to help me decide!

Yes. The Amphicars can be seen right out in front of The Boathouse. Or, you can walk through the main dinning area out onto the docks and check out all the other boats they have there as well with no reservations.

I very much like both restaurants. Raglan Road is one of my all time favourites, so there's that. Have never had a bad meal or experience there. The Boathouse is great as well. I've only eaten there about four times but it was always very good. Of course, both have their own atmospheres which are great.

The Boathouse is nice especially the outdoor seating on the water for nice evenings with a great view.

Raglan Road gets a bit more upbeat in the evenings with a louder crowd and atmosphere. Though this is a great place to hang out just for drinks or in large groups for dinner.

I don't think you'd go wrong with either choice to be honest with you. All depends on what you are in the mood for with food and/or atmosphere. Also, they are pretty much right down the "street" from each other in DTD, so access is no issue with either.

I guess the big question is: what's your price point? Boathouse is 2 credits, RR is 1, and if you're paying OOP, Boathouse is generally much more expensive. For me personally I'd do RR for that reason: love their food, love their atmosphere and the $ is better, but YMMV.

I was faced with this very same decision last week for our stay at WDW. I had the Boathouse reserved directly with the restaurant and had an ADR at Raglan Road as well. I was paying OOP and not part of the DDP. I ended up keeping our ADR at Raglan Road and was not disappointed at all. The service was outstanding, the entertainment was a whole lot of fun and the food was pretty good as well. And yes the stories you may have heard about the bread pudding are true, it was out of this world delicious. I did look around the Boathouse and will admit the place looked really nice and while I was not overly impressed with the menu options, they still looked pretty good. Perhaps I will try the Boathouse in the future, but I certainly will return to Raglan Road... Outstanding restaurant.

We missed the free dining plan by 4 days so we're paying OOP. Based on what everyone has said so far, I think we'll probably go to Raglan Road and just admire the boats by the Boathouse while we're in Downtown Disney. I am really excited to hear the live music! Thanks for everyone's helpful suggestions.

I've heard good things about the Boathouse (and haven't been), but for me the menu just doesn't pop out to me. On the other hand we tried Raglan for the first time last trip and thoroughly enjoyed it with the exception of a long wait. The food was definitely a good divergence from some of the typical disney food and we all loved the band and dancing entertainment.

Take my comments with a grain of salt because I have not yet been to the Boathouse, but I have been to Raglan Road. It is one of my family's favorite restaurants. The food os good and reasonably priced, the entertainment outstanding, the service is stellar.

GIven the price difference, I would probable choose RR for now.
