I am excited to report that we are planning on going back to WDW in the fall. :yay::yay: While I would prefer to stay onsite or at a different resort due to some reviews, we are staying at the Westgate Villas (for almost nothing - thank you aunty!). This is the first trip since '09 and I am super excited. We tour hard and don't plan on spending a lot of time at the resort but would love some helpful feedback if you've been recently. Thanks in advance! :hippie:

We stayed at Town Centre in 2013. We also.had a very good price from our Aunt. I will say, it wasn't my favourit . That being said, we did remark we liked the pools around the vacation villas area better then the Town Centre. We had a 3 BDRM and the rooms were Huge!! If I got a cheap price again I would go back.

well if I can take my pet will stay at Westgate Villa - it is not the greatest but it is not the worst either. just make sure under no circumstances you go to their sales pitch - no matter what they call it - they call it a bunch of different things.

they use very hard tactics

^^ excellent advice ^^

We have stayed at Westgate Lakes Resort on a previous trip. It was okay....spacious rooms, good resort amenities (but many you needed to pay for).

There are better timeshare resorts in the Orlando area, but if you stay away from the sales team, you should have a good stay.

I've never stayed at Villas, but I've been to Lakes many times, and Towers once, and I can say that I'm not a fan of Westgate's properties, or the company itself. However, for the low, low price of "next to nothing", I'd likely stay again :)

I assume that your Aunt is an owner, and you will be staying as her guest. Westgate will try to bully you into a sales seminar. As others have said here, do not, under any circumstances agree to the seminar. It's also not a bad idea to simply unplug your phone in the unit if you don't plan on using it. They will call and harass you incessantly. And, if you do go to the seminar, expect to waste your entire morning (3-4 hours).

Going to Orlando in late July and staying at Westgate Lakes as guests of family member who is an owner. What are the chances of NOT getting bombarded with offers for the timeshare seminar? We don't have any interest in buying and never will. We have a 3BR suite booked. I've seen some online reviews with horror stories and am now a bit worried!:confused3

Say NO at check in (and keep repeating it as many times as they ask), then unplug the phones in your villa.

The Westgate staff are relentless.

We stayed at Westgate Lakes Resort over Memorial Weekend, I was also worried because of some of the reviews. We had a nice stay. Here is a link to my trip advisor review:

yea if enough of us warns people to beware of westgate - they turn down the sales pitch for a while.

oh unplugged the phone did not work for me - a sales pitcher actually came to my door in the villa - and I told him not interested. he tried to put his foot in the door - but closed it anyway.

We are staying with the owners so hopefully....but we'll be sure to unplug the phone and be on the lookout.

When they tell you the pitch is for an hour and a half, get in writing. If they won't, don't do it. They will tell you time starts after breakfast or lunch; say no it starts now. It's a crsppy spread. Read westgate reviews on tripadvisors, the bad ones and there's a lot of them. Also go to consumeraffairs.com and read the westgate reports. I would also have it handy on my phone so when they start promising you the world, show them the reports. On tripadvisor, the great reviews all seem to sound the same. They make you give them deposit, and when they see you're not buying, will try to keep it. Stand your ground. They will not stop harassing you to do sales pitch, but a little knowledge goes a long way. I had to rescue my daughter in law after she signed contract so I know all about them.

of course I have not tried this - but others have - get to resale sites for Westgate - and copy their resales - many are free - just to get out of Westgate - so when they tell you it will only (????) cost $15,0000 or more - just say very LOUDLY so others in the room will here) - why when I get these for free - they say they out in minutes - never, never give Westgate even a dime. So if they ask for payment in advance - say no - you don't want to go.

Not to mention annual maintenance fees which can be $1000 or more a year. You could book a week at most any westgate property for $1000 a week...why on earth would you want to buy timeshare with no resale value?

Westgate is the industry worst for restricting resales so that they are worthless. If you buy, you're stuck, you can't even unload them for free in many cases just to be out of the MFs.

There is no resale market for Westgate because it's worthless, by Westgate's design.

I want to repeat that: Timeshare Industry Worst. It takes a whole lot to earn that distinction.

Stay. Have a great time. Unplug your phone. Say no. Repeat. It's not that hard to say no, you just might need to be consistent about it.
