For those that have stayed in a studio at the Poly? Thoughts? Pros/cons?

Do you have to use your magic band to active the machines? I would hate to have competition from nonmemebers who don't get the free laundry benefit.
You need to use your magic band to access the laundry room, but not the machines.

Great reading. Just changed my September reservation from AKL to Poly studio. Looking for all the info I can find.

We stayed at the Poly the first week of May. It was just DH and I, and we found the studio to be huge for a DVC studio. As far where to put your suitcase, there is plenty of room by the front door. We had two luggage racks in our closet (not sure if they usually come with 1 or 2), but we put them side by side by the front door and there was still room to walk around. We were in a standard view in the Moorea building (3rd floor). Being so close to the TTC was awesome. I don't think we ever took the monorail from the main station at the GCH. I didn't like that we were so far away from the GCH so that even going for a cup of coffee was a chore, but I guess that's why they have coffee makers in the room. It would be awesome if they opened a small quick-serve or beverage fountain where the Neverland Club used to be. We didn't have a problem with crowds at Captain Cooks or the pool (but it may have been because it was before the Disney "summer rush."

I wonder why they didn't put a toilet in both bathrooms. That would have sold me!

It seems that the smaller kitchenette and the distance to the dining, it's a little inconvenient.

IMO DVC get some of the less desirable building locations within the resort. Parking lot views, boat horns, obstructed views, distance to main building, just take the time to know your options.

It makes sense for the DVC building not to be elsewhere at the Poly Resort for various reasons off the top of my head.
1- All 3 longhouses are next to each other
2- Parking nearby
3- These Longhouses have larger rooms than some of the other buildings
4- These longhouses have balconies on 2nd Floor (some of the other buildings do not)
5- Some of the other buildings are 2 stories or have suites, which are desirable for the hotel, and the buildings are too small for DVC.

If they had put DVC in Tuvalo there would be some on these boards :dance3:complaining its too far from the Parking Lot and the furthest walk from T&T. With Tokelau now open you have the option for a 2 minute walk to the busses or 2 minutes to GCH and have the option to be next to the quiet pool (was construction is completed. I personally have requested a Lake View close to T&T for easy access to EPCOT and even MK so I dont have to goto GCH and walk upstairs.

We are here now. For these reasons above - I don't think we will stay here again. We are in Pago Pago and it is too far away from everything. To us - the resort is too spread out. We prefer Beach Club or BLT.

This resort has the same foot print it had prior to DVC and is definitely spread out and gives you that tropical feel with the winding paths and torches. I don't think you would like VGF, Kidani, Saratoga, or OKW, if you think the POLY is too far away from everything.

...

We've been huge Poly fans for over 20 years, and for reasons 3 & 4 (plus the closeness to TTC), the DVC buildings are where we almost always requested and stayed. Especially the balcony reason; I think the Tonga suites building is the only other DVC building with balcony or patio on every floor. As these have always been "our" buildings at our favorite resort, it was perhaps the breaking point to finally purchase DVC.

I'm curious if anyone knows if you can get into the Moorea building after the doors require magic band use to get into them in the evenings if you aren't in one of those rooms. For those doing laundry late, that could be a negative.

Tokelau will be DVC. I read that they are hoping it will open in the next few weeks. Interested to hear feedback!::yes::

We just got back from a stay at Tokelau. The location was perfect and our standard view even came with a sliver of the lake! The room felt huge for the three of us with plenty of storage. The resort is looking beautiful now that most construction is finished!

So happy to hear you had a great stay and construction wasn't an issue. We are arriving in September and can't wait!!!
