Is 2 years old too young for an autograph book?

I'd say it depends on if you child likes the characters or not. Some children get shy and frightened around the characters and don't want to get a picture with them.

We got lucky and our 2.5 year old wanted to meet every character he could. Now he looks back at the autograph book and loves it (we got the one with picture placement so we could add in the pics with each character). My daughter last year however at 2 did not like characters so we didn't push it.

I think it will just depend on your child. On our last trip DD was 5 and DS was 3. DD loved having an autograph book to approach the characters with but DS had NO interest in it at all. We tried it with the first character we met but when I asked him if he wanted his book at the second character he said "no"- he just wanted to hug them all lol.

Both my daughters did the autograph books when they were 2 and had a great time. It is funny how they know what are the steps just after a few character encounters. Hold out the book to be signed, hand the book to Mommy, hug, pictures, hug and wave bye bye. :smickey:

I probably wouldn't do it for a 2yo, mostly because mine would have just used it as a coloring book for themselves. I still haven't done autograph books with my kids, 6 and 4, but maybe one day...I think they are the right age for it now.

my kids get to choose a new hat in Disney and the characters sign them. This way I don't have to carry anything other then a sharpie. And they wear them when they get home.

Thats a great idea! I never thought of anything like that before. I might try that when we go back next time.

My 2 yo gets star struck so it would've been mom's job to worry about the book...and I didn't really want to! I did notice that they have a wooden picture frame with signatures on it in the gift shops. I thought really hard about getting him that!!:confused::confused:

Our dd was 2 years old when we went on our first trip to Disney World. She loved the autograph book and had a great time getting autographs. Before we went to Disney we spent some time watching youtube videos of character interactions at various locations. When we arrived she was ready! 4 years later I am happy that we did the autograph book when she was so young. It is great to look back and see how much she has changed.

We went to Disneyland when my DD was 18 months and DS was 3.5 yrs. I made them autograph books and had them spiral bound at staples. In all I spent $15 to make both. DD was terrified of everyone except Minnie, so she also threw the book at the character the first few times (we learned quickly also to not give her the book). However, after awhile the both loved it. It might be because my DS has no fear of the characters and LOVED getting the autographs.
I make them new books each year (I have learned to pare down the characters to those they really like, our first books were HUGE!). This year instead of doing a spiral I am going to hole punch them so I can take them apart and put them in their scrapbooks.
I think it is a great idea to do it and have it for years from now to look back on. If you aren't into the do it yourself definitely buying the one where you can add the photo is a great idea to save those memories to share when they are older. Have fun!

We took DD in the Fall when she was 20 months old. We did the tote bag thing. I bought it from Hobby Lobby for like $5, wrote her name with puffy paint, and added a Minnie Mouse iron on. It prob cost $10 total. We brought a black fabric marker with us, and a hard cover book, which doubled as something for the character to write on, and something for DD to look at in restaurants. We did have 3 adults in our party with 1 kiddo, so one of us took responsibility for the bag at every character meet and greet. We ended up with about 12 signatures (all the mains like Mickey and Minnie and lots of princesses), and she uses the bag as her library and dance bag. She loves looking at the names and the way each princess has her own unique way of writing it. I love that it's practical!
