Ugh..Went for Room Only Discount...Help

So I booked a split stay at BC then POR with my pin code. Went for Room Only discount rather then Free Dining.
So after thinking about my forever hungry 12 and 14 year olds DH and I are thinking maybe Free Dining is the way to go. We have done it before and it didn't seem worth it because they were on the kids plan. Now these guys love to eat and have very good and adventurous palates. I was going to do our trip with shared food etc to keep down costs but realistically that is not going to work and will just cause us all stress. So even though DH hates Disney food he thinks we should maybe change our offer. So here's for some questions if anyone can help.

1. Does Free Dining have to be at same resort category? I am guessing yes since Deluxes do Table Service but just want to confirm. Any chance I can pay upcharge OOP? (pretty much know I'm dreaming LOL). Can you "downgrade" dining plan to quick service if you do a split stay. We would be fine with Table Service for the first 4 nights then change to QS the last 3.

So bottom line I am hoping someone can tell me if I can do a 7 day stay (that starts on the last night before a black out period) in two separate resort categories with Free Dining.

Whew I think I confused myself. LOL. TIA for any replies.

Both BC and POR Free Dining offers will get you the DDP with one TS credit per person per day. However, if the first day of your vacation is the last FD date before a blackout, you'll have to stay all 7 nights at the same place for FD.

Another option might be to start your stay at POR with FD and then for your last 3 nights, move to BC with a RO discount and pay cash for meals.

Ugh Ugh Ugh. Thanks for the reply. I knew there would be a catch. Problem is BC is booked for the last 3 nights or our vacation. Darn. So if we book on the last day of the FD offer we need to have the vacation in one resort? I get it. Just don't like it LOL.

You don't have to stay in one resort! You'll just only get Free Dining for the first part of your stay. You could always call and see what's available for your check in date. I hear that a lot of the FD rooms have sold out.

To get free dining on both you'd have to split your tickets, putting at least 2 days on the second half. It's not cost effective since tickets get cheaper the more you stay.

I'd try for FD the first portion and keep the room only on the second and pay OOP those days.

You can also use TS credits as a QS once your QS credits are gone, but you can't downgrade the plan itself. You can use your TS credits at any TS restaurant that accepts the ddp, regardless of resort tier.

It's the ticket purchase requirement...if you put the free dining on the second half of your stay (which you can't anyway because it appears it's blacked out), you have to buy another set of tickets. Put it only on the first half, it will work better. Then you'd have to purchase dining for the second half if you want it, but you could get all your tickets with the first package and book a ticketless package on the second. You need to check for availability though. FD has very limited availabilty at POR, and I don't know about BC but it seems to be limited everywhere this year.
