Hi! We are about to put in a request for AKV for renting points later this year. Would love any advice and recommendations. What do we need to know? Do they bring fresh towels everyday? I know they don't clean daily.

If staying less than 8 nights, you will get fresh towels on day 4 of your stay. What are your other questions?

I have no idea! This is a very new idea for us. We always stayed offsite when we went as I was growing up. DH and I only started staying onsite when we got married, and we have only stayed at Pop. Every time. I'm nervous about change!!

I was very confused about when towel and trash day was for our first stay a couple weeks ago-we checked in to BLT on a Saturday and I expected no towel/trash service as we only had a 4 night stay booked-but we did receive towel/trash service on our last day-I was thinking 4 days from checkin in not counting check-in day as day 1.

Do you want Jambo or Kidani? Standard or Savannah view? And might want to put in requests while your at it (ie close to lobby, specific savannah).

A DVC rental would not have daily housekeeping. If the trash if full, you can take your trash to the trash room. Day 4 they change out the towels and take out the trash. Some will leave some more supplies (bathroom and coffee). A studio would only have 1 q bed and a pull out.

I have no idea about Jambo vs kidani. Is one better? We plan to book savannah view. No clue about which is best. I would like to be near buses, I guess. We are good with the sleeping arrangements. DH and I will have a bigger bed than at Pop and our boys (5 and 3 at the time) will share the pull out and it is the same size they would have shared. I think the rooms are a little bigger.

Will we run out of tp? Are shampoos and soaps provided?

kidani is generally better if you get a 1BR or 2BR (as they include an extra bathroom).

for studios it's less important.

jambo has the quick service dining option (mara) and jiko and boma. kidani has sanaa.

park buses pick up first (and drop off first at kidani) so that's a bonus for kidani. (and if you are going to mara at jambo from kidani, just hop the first park bus that comes by).

you can do a search and find threads like this to get more info:

if you run out of TP (or paper towels), more will be provided for free if you call.

(there is a charge if you want fresh towels every day - most people with 1BRs use their washer/dryer in their villa - most of us probably don't wash our towels every day at home and just use them for a few days.)

shampoos and soap are provided but are only replaced every 4th day on trash/towel day.

Hi! We are about to put in a request for AKV for renting points later this year.

1) i hope "later this year" does not mean december - which is super busy for DVC - as that will mean very limited options. DVC tends to book up earlier than hotel rooms and the last quarter of the year is the most popular with owners and tends to book up very early (owners can book starting at 11 months out).

2) some AKV room categories (value and club) are extremely limited and will be long gone by now for virtually all of 2015.

(just FYI.)

It does mean December, but it looks like typically the studio savannah rooms are still available. If not, we will look into something else. Not a huge deal! My dad would have liked the value, but I already read that was unlikely. We will see what my family can get first, then see what is available for him.

Thanks for the links! I had trouble finding anything on AKV. I'm reading it all.

DVC room inventory is different than Disney cash inventory. You can find rooms on the Disney website and DVC could be completely booked.

Yes, I consulted the chart on typical lead times on David's website. Again, if we don't get it, that's fine.

yeah, if it doesn't work this time, hopefully it will work out some other time.

while nonholiday weeks in nov and dec can be slower times in the parks themselves, the lower point costs for DVC prompt a lot of DVC owners to book early to go see the decorations. so DVC booking can be something of a frenzy...but you won't know for certain till you check your dates. good luck.

here's a good "fansite" for AKV - i have stayed there several times and really enjoyed the theming and animals:
