can't find early morning flights from chicago

I've enver had this problem before. leaving chgo ohare on aug 31. the earliest nonstop flight I can find is 9 am . we usually get a very early flight _6 or 7?) so we can check in as early as possible. we feel it gives us a better chance at a room we want (even if we have to wait for it) .
we also hate to waste the whol first day. we lie by the pool.

anyone know why there are no early offerings> am I too late in looking? or too earlhy? maybe the airlines haven't release them yet?

We just flew down from Midway a few weeks ago on a 6am flight on Southwest. They also had direct flights MDW-MCO at 7am and I believe 8:30. But if you are looking for a flight out of ORD, I would still be surprised that there isn't anything before 9. Maybe it would be worth your while to get to MDW and take an earlier flight rather than flying out of ORD.

I just checked for fun. There is s 6 am flight on United. And then one at 8 am.

There are no non-stop flights at all on August 31 on United which leave before 9 am. The flights you found have stops.

OP, you're right; there are no non-stop flights on any airline ORD-MCO on August 31 leaving before around 9 am. None from MDW either, except one from Southwest, leaving at 6:05 am.

this is so odd! we live 45 miles NW of chicago, so midway would be really far for us. quite a taxi fare! I even checked on the 30. (I'll bite the bullet and leave for disney a day early lol) no luck. rats

How far is Milwaukee airport for you? You might want to consider it if the drive is not too far. There's a 7:30 nonstop flight; earlier flights too (as early as 6am) but all with a stop. Good luck! The 7:30 flight is only $99 with the current sale!

You could always submit a room request to Disney in hopes of getting a good room. I have always done online check-in with WDW and 99.9% of the time our room is ready when we arrive which is usually mid to late morning. With online check in they ask what time you plan to arrive at Disney. If you plan to lie by the pool your first day. Take your suites in a carry on and change into them at one of the bathrooms.

yes we always put our suits in a carry on and lie by the pool if our room isn't ready. thanks! Milwaukee is quite far from us. midway airport would be closer. but driving to the airport is pretty much not an option. I don't drive on expressways, interstates, etc. my hubby nebo was always the driver,he used to drive us down to florida all the time, he loved road trips. no flying for us.. but now due to macualr degeneration, he doesn't drive anymore. hence the cab or limo to ohare.

thanks you guys for all your help! we decided today that I will keep an eye out on the flights, but in the meanwhile we booked a one night room only at the music resort (one day before our 4 night "free" dining at music) so if there are no early flights on that monday, we will fly down a day early on sunday a little later. that way we won't lose a whole pool day. and I can't get up real early the sunday anyway as I work sat. nights. myluck that will be the night a late table comes in (and sits, and sits....) or there will be a party I have to work, (I'm a server)

rats? did I just probably add a day to the begining of our trip? lol! now if an early flight is released on the monday, I'll be disappointed!

I just thought it was so odd. esp on a monday I would think business travelers might need to get to another city early on the beg. of the work week.

shelly, when we check in and they show us on the map where our room is (and if it isn't ready, the "general" location") we very often say "Um, whjat else ya got?"
we'll wait for a better room. so, say if they have us in a room in the 80's section of pop, we might say "have anything in the 50's? near the bowling pin pool?

at beach club villas once they had us in a garden view . pool view is not a bookable category at the BC villas. I asked "got a room with a view of the quiet pool?" "well, yes, but the other room is ready now. the pool view you have to wait." we'll wait. as soon as we got settled in by the pool, I got the text. room ready!

we got to the resort about 11 Am. now the family arriving about 2 or 3 will not be able to get that room, cause I got it.

One last suggestion - you could always take a late flight the day before your reservation starts and stay at the Hyatt airport hotel or another nearby airport hotel for the night. You can get decent deals by looking around. Yes, you will have to pick up your own luggage and get it to/from your hotel room, but you can hop on the DME the next morning and get to your resort as early as they start running! Most of the airport area hotels will have a free shuttle to and from the airport. I stayed in the Hyatt airport hotel last time when I took a Disney cruise and it was so convenient! Plus there are tons of restaurants in the hotel for dinner. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have an amazing trip!

hhmm/ that's an option I didn't consider. thanks! and I could sleep a little later sunday morning. food for thought.

I like to fly out of O'Hare since I'm only a 20-ish minute drive from it, but most of the flights I could find didn't leave earlier than 9am. Even though Midway is like a 45 minute drive for me, I sucked it up because Southwest had the prices and the times I wanted. :rotfl: I hope you are able to get the flights you want. :thumbsup2

lillian, we are all the way out in the fox valley area. if it was only 45 minutes for us to midway, I might consider it. and since I don't drive on expressways, whatever is a 45 minute drive becomes a much longer one, taking routes like higgins, cicero, lake street, Irving park, etc. we always take a taxi or limo to ohare anyway. like I said earlier, driving t the airport is pretty much not an option for us.

(ooh, make that Hannah! my granddaugher's name is hannah!)

Have you checked the Rockford Airport? I could not believe the deal my nephew got - but I think he had to land at the other Orlando Airport - but... you need to really check the Uber car options!

all my trips using Disney only transportation, we are seriously considering using Uber from time to time!

I did check out rockford. no flights to orlando.. but from your post I see they do have flights to sanford? airport? we really need to use magical Express. for quite a few reason, my husband cand only pull his checked bag AND his carry on for a short while. I pull both of mine and the boarding bag. but then he has to follow me, I can't lead him. that is why the ME is so great for us!!!
uber... hhmmm. not sure I feel comfortable getting in a car with a stranger driving I know, the limo driver or taxi driver are strangers. seems dif. somehow.

I'm a little bit further north from you guys! I'm near Woodfield Mall. :) I definitely understand that Midway is not an option for you, but I still hope that you'll be able to find something at O'Hare! You got lots of great advice! :goodvibes I wish O'Hare had better flight options because like I said, I definitely prefer O'Hare because it's so much closer.

Hannah is such a great name, isn't it? ;)

We're in Woodstock and we have also liked to catch early flights. We've done the Park-n-Fly in the past where we stay a night at one of the hotels near O'Hare and take the shuttle in the a.m. The car gets to stay there at the hotel for the trip duration and we don't have to pay for parking at O'Hare. Also get to sleep in later on arrival day!! :)

i booked a few months ago for our November POR trip so the airlines do open reservation up a lot earlier now than they use to. But still seems odd that there are no pre-9:00 a.m. times on a work day.

actually we are in carpentersville . we ahd visited the DVC store at Woodfield a few times, but never took the plunge. we rent points.
