Quick Royal Pacific post

We just spent a couple of nights at the Royal Pacific. We stayed one night a couple of years ago.

We arrived around 10:00 AM and a room was ready. It ended up to be the furthest point from the elevator, but that was not an issue since we really spent most of our time at the parks or Citywalk.

Getting our Express passes seemed quicker this time. Or maybe my memory was faulty. Either way it was a quick experience.

We had a refurbed room. I guess the best description would be modern Polynesian. The floor was a faux light grey wood grain color. The muted colors were a big contrast with the bright orange flowers on the carpet in the halls. The reading lights on the outside of the beds is a really nice touch. Our shower stall leaked water out on the floor both mornings. I double checked that the door was properly closed. The room seemed a bit smaller than our POFQ room. It would have helped if the closet had been in the open area by the door.

I liked the double sided viewing for the pool movies. We didn't spend much time by the pool this trip. It was mainly when my wife and I were drinking our expensive cocktail and beer in the evening.

I'm not sure when we are heading to Oralndo again, but when we do we will continue to stay at RPR when visiting Universal.

Thanks for the information. We're headed there in about a week and we've not been there since the refurbishments have taken place. I was told we are in a refurbished room so it will be interesting to compare the new rooms to the old. I have heard some complaints from others about construction noise so I'm hoping that isn't an issue for us, did you experience any? Was there a sink outside of the bathroom in your refurbed room? And did you have JUST a shower or tub and shower? Thank you in advance.

We were there last week, too, and also stayed in a refurbed room. We really loved it, and the giant flowers were very unique. Our room was not ready when we arrived - we checked in between 9 and 10 and the room text arrived at 3:39. That was OK though since we were spending the day in the parks.

My only complaint was the shower (and I suggested a redesign before they finish the rest of the refurbs on my post-visit survey) - while DD LOVED the dual heads, you couldn't turn it on without sticking your head under the water flow. Then, your towel was hanging on the opposite side of the door opening, so you had to pretty much get out of the warm cozy shower to get your towel. On top of that, there was no seal at the bottom, and ours leaked as well. The humidity levels were so high that it felt like the bathroom stayed wet the whole time.

Hmmm... how did you find out which room you were in? From what I read here, rooms aren't assigned until about 5 days out, & you didn't really know which room you got until check-in.

I'm curious because we're about 10 days out and just got our confirmation from RPR that they received our room requests, & I'd love to check back in next week to find out where we are.

The sink is in a separate area. There is a frosted door between the sink and the toilet and shower area.

I never heard any construction noise. The first day we did not get back to our room until close to 10:00 PM and the second day was close to 9:00 PM. They may have been working during the day.

I'd like to know as well. We'll be there in 4 days, and we need adjoining rooms, but we won't be there until about 8pm. I'm worried there will be no adjoining rooms left when we get there; but when I call in, all I get is the same old, "We've noted your reservation, and we'll try to give you adjoining rooms. But, there are no guarantees."

I missed the tub question the first time. Ours had only a shower. It had a fixed shower head and a detachable one. I don't know if the detachable one will reach the floor area.

I wonder why they have so many different styles/layouts of bathrooms. Some have stand up shower only, some tub and shower. With young kids, the tub is nice but since our main request was to have two connecting rooms, I didn't want to complicate things with add'l requests.
As for knowing our room assignment, I called a few days ago to confirm ressie, reiterate our connecting room request and to see if there would be a fridge (need one for medicine storage) so they checked and said they'd already assigned us our rooms and they were refurbished rooms which all have a fridge so we were good to go. I don't know about Universal but with Disney if you want the interior connecting door you have to specifically ask for CONNECTING ROOMS not adjoining rooms. I learned this the hard way at Disney, however they moved us on our second night to accommodate our intended request for the connecting door in between (gotta love the Disney magic!). On our reservation it shows 'connecting rooms-interior connecting door' (vs. adjoining which from what it seems just means 'next door to' not necessarily connecting inside. Hope this helps.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much at RP.........:thumbsup2

Quick question - what is the best way to make a room request? We'll be there in 2 months for our first time. I booked online & didn't see a place there. Is calling best? TIA

I did call to make mine, it felt like the "safest" bet. And I can see it printed on my reservation that was emailed to me.

I used the "contact us" page on their website, & chose "concierge" as the contact. I got an e-mail confirming my requests within 24 hours.

I was under the impression if you booked through Universal, they would garantee the rooms to be connecting? That's the only reason I would do it instead of cheaptickets, for the extra $ through Universal I thought we would definitely get connecting??? Anyone about that for sure?
