Walt Disney World Railroad operating times

I've read that the trains don't run during parade times and am wondering how long after the parade ends before they start again. Thanks!

It is relatively fast after the Parade goes by. It's only because the parade has to cross the tracks as it enters from backstage. I was on the train at Frontierland Station and it was waiting until the parade was fully out from the staging area. We only waited about 10 minutes. You are allowed to board and wait while the trains are on hold.

Is it official that the WDW Railroad will be closed on 9/28/15 and reopen in November??? I contact Disney World and someone responded saying that there were no plans for refurbishment of the Railroad at the end of the year. Every Disney info site I've looked at says it is going to be closed, but no articles or news to support this claim. The reason I am freaking out about this is because I've been planning for close to 4 months now to attempt the WDW46 (see www.parkeology.com) on 10/7/15 and am very excited about it! I fear that we may have to call off the attempt and reschedule. Any hope that this is just a rumor??? Thank you in advance to any responses! :)

If it says that on the refurbishment schedule, I would probably believe it. I usually go down in October and it's been closed the last few times I've been down. I'm going down in November this year, and was happy I'd get to ride, I think it's supposed to be open when I get there. I've not been on it since was a little kid.

Thank you for the fast reply... A friend of mine said she hasn't been able to ride it the last four times she's been there, all around the same time in October that we are going. Where can I find the "refurbishment schedule"? Is it on the Disney World website? I searched and didn't find anything about the railroad. I did see where Pirates would be down until 9/25/15 when I looked further toward our arrival date. Thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks! I'm guessing this would be the same at the Main Street Station?

Should be. You can see on Google Maps where the parade must cross the railroad tracks. It will happen once as it is going out and again as it comes back in to backstage. All trains on the line stop and presumably start moving again at the same time.

Any thoughts on why it continues to close for refurbishment in October? We were disappointed to see that it was closed when we were prepping for our October trip last year, and now I see it will be again in 2015! Can't they switch up the time they refurbish the thing?? :worried:

It is a bummer that it doesn't rotate around. Families like me often find a time of year that fits in the schedule and stick with it. That means we've missed the train several trips in a row due to fall refurbs.

Question:
If the train is down for refurbishment, doesn't that effect the Rope Drop show?
I thought the characters road in on the train????
Or is it that only they do and it's closed the rest of the day?

That's a shame that it's closed. What do they do for the opening show at MK without the train?

They do a different version of the MK Good Morning show that does not use a train.
(There are actually several versions of the show.)

The red line on the right is the parade route just "back stage" from the edge of Frontierland.

Oh ok. I've never done rope drop at MK. In 2008 they still had it at Epcot or AK, I can't remember I just know I was with my son and a CM came by throwing confetti and dropped a handful in his hood. Later in the day, my son went to put his hood on and he had the magic happen again. We didn't see it there before. LOL

DH and I are going and I told him I want to get to a rope drop. Trying to juggle the scheduled plans to be at Rope drop and get to our breakfast ADRs. hmmmm gotta check travel times.

Sometimes not.
Splash Mtn. is down nearly every January.
