Best purse/daybag for solo?

I agree! I have always used one of the drawstring bags. The one I have is made of plastic so it doesn't get soaking wet and if you don't have much in them they are simple to put under a ride seat. They are also light weight and easy to pack. This is the one I have. FYI they have plenty to buy all over the parks in case you wanted a Disney one.

I used a LeSportsac Deluxe Shoulder Satchel. It was the right size to fit my wallet, sunscreen, park maps, Iphone - I could also fold up a light sweatshirt to throw in there for the evening. The other good thing is that it is lightweight and waterproof!

I recently did some shopping for my upcoming trip and purchased this bag to use at the parks

Kipling crossbody bag

It's a nice size, not too big not too small, and VERY roomy! It should fit all the items you listed just fine. I also like all the different zippered compartments that allow me to organize my belongings and have easy access to certain things.
I have this bag and love it! I got it in November for a DL trip and have been using it daily ever since. It's my signature bag!

OP- I would recommend sunblock wipes since they take up less space and are lightweight. ;0) I try to make my bag as light as possible as not to put any strain on my neck or shoulder.

That looks like a really great bag! I have a similar one that might end up being my Disney bag.

About 10 years ago, my mom got a travel purse from LL Bean, which I mocked as unstylish and bulky. While I went through severl bag failures, she loved hers and talked me into borrowing it for my first solo trip. Discovered it was not that bulky and was so handy I didn't mind its lack of style. Really it isn't awful, but it isn't Coach. Typically I wear it crossbody. It has an elastic side pocket to hold a water bottle, a back slip pocket where I keep sunscreen and hand sanitzer and a front velcro pocket perfect for my camera. The main compartment is big enough to hold a light windbreaker although it makes the bag puffy.

Sadly, now that I have perfected packing it for both airport days and destination day, mom is getting weird about loaning it to me. She has a new one, that she won't use and won't loan me, but has made a few "joking" comments sbout me wearing her bag out as only a mom can. Looked into getting one for myself, but they discontinued the bag :(

So for my upcoming trip I am either testing out a nylon Dooney crossbody or a crossbody I got at Kohl's. If I were going anywhere besides WDW I would beg for her bag, but feel safe experimenting since I know exactly what I need for a day at the parks.

Absolutely love my mini backpack! It holds everything I need in the park-- travel sized sunscreen, water bottle, phone, wallet, ibuprofen, poncho, even some snacks! I know the brand is "Ful". It's a really great thing to bring around the park. Very light weight, and fits on literally every ride with no problem whatsoever. On most rides, it's small enough to remain on your back and not disturb anyone-- I even kept it on my back during RnR. Not uncomfortable at all. I'm a big mini-backpack person. Can you tell? lol.

what does the small Disney Vera Bradley backpack looks like and the drawstrings side bag? Does anyone has pictures?

I loved using a string bag. I have neck/shoulder issues, so need balanced weight. But a regular (even small) backpack "enables" me to bring more than I want to, and therefore have more weight on my back than is ideal. A string bag keeps me to the essentials-sunscreen, poncho, camera.

I also carried water separately, using a camelback refillable bottle that had a carabiner on it. When it was full (heavy), I would carry it in my hand. As I emptied it, when it got light enough I would hang it from a belt loop. And in the restrooms, the carabiner made it easy to hang from the bag hook.

Now if I can only figure out how to travel so light when we take the grandkids next March. . .

String backpack bags kill my shoulders, even when lightweight. I get a tiny tube of sunscreen that fits in my pocket, take my phone, cards (ID,credit card, insurance cards, annual pass), lip balm, tiny comb, camera, plastic bag with ibuprofen and dental floss and a bottle of water. No bag. My camera (not my phone!) - fits in a camera case that clips on a waist band (and I added a clip that attaches it to a belt loop so it can't fall off).

If it's just sunscreen that is dictating your need for a bag - buy a travel size, wipes, or stick that fits in your pocket.

My normal cross body small bag was really rubbing my neck so I grabbed one of the Disney cinch sacks kinda like this one. I use it in the parks all the time now! Lightweight, a little bit water resistant, and tends to hold most things I buy...you can stuff all types of junk in here! :) Plus it's lightweight enough that it never makes me feel hot or anything.

I used a Vera Bradley mini hipster when we were there in July. Some days I didn't carry it at all since I was traveling with my kids and had a stroller with a console that I could just toss my things into to skip that security check. However, My mini hipster was very light and compact. Just enough space for my phone (iphone6), oversized sunglasses, lip balm, and a powder compact. I could also keep a poncho in there if I folded it up neatly.

I've used a regular backpack for years, this is the first trip(solo!) that I'll be using my cinch sack back. I use it all the time on daytrips in NYC, so I figure the principle is the same. I've sorted my items and put them in mini ziplock bags so I'm not forever digging around trying to find something. But it will also let me make some purchases and cram them in there since I always stay offsite.

I realize you posted back in April. If you went already, hope it was good. If you haven't, wish you well

I always carry a small 'el cheapo' $5 backpack from Walmart with the wide straps & sometimes loop it over my shoulder. I find the string straps to dig on my shoulders. I think I may get rid of if at the end of the trip. But somehow, it winds up in my luggage. At the park, somehow I wind up with more than I bargained for since DH gives me his keys and at times phone. But anything with a zipper is good to me. I always worry my wallet will spill out.

Honestly I just brought in a wristlet that could carry my phone as well. I got to avoid the lines for people who needed their bags checked, and everything I needed was tucked away safely.

I didn't want to hijack another thread under another forum, so I will ask this here. What bag is best for a solo traveller (i.e. not packing anything for anyone else, kids, etc)? Preferrably, I wouldn't carry anything into the parks but I know I will want to take a few items with me (camera, reservations, sunscreen, phone, etc). What is the best bag?

I currently wear this bag, but it won't fit sunscreen:

I can still use it with a small bottle of sunscreen and a clip on water bottle, but am thinking maybe a different purse will be better?
I took my first solo trip in 2013 and loved my Vera Bradley mini hipster. It was just enough room for ID, cash/credit cards, sunscreen, lip balm, and my phone. I loved not taking a ton like previous trips with the whole family!

I am all for packing light. How much "stuff" do you really need? Credit card or cash, ID, hand sanitizer (a MUST, small one that hangs from your purse is perfect) lip balm, kleenex? (I am a big kleenex user). That's it. I travel 360 days a year and have learned to do with less. I don't buy a lot of stuff to carry around. If I can't eat it, I don't buy it! I would carry water anyway, so don't really need a purse big enough. Maybe a small rain poncho - those cheap ones you get at Walmart are perfect, and fit in my cross body purse. SO, all I have is a small cross body purse. My iphone fits in it; I don't carry chargers - they are heavy, my iphone is my camera, I carry a small sunscreen - the travel size you get at Target. I have never wanted anything I didn't have with me! My cross body bag is an inexpensive purse and I have been wearing it around the world daily for 6 months!
