I painted our magic bands today and posted pics in a facebook group and a woman told me that they aren't going to scan at the parks and that people who decorate them cause problems and long lines for people who don't decorate.
There are so many people here who have said painting doesn't cause scanning problems. This was all done with nail polish...Please tell me I didn't waste my entire day doing this....
Sometimes it did for me. What I found was a used a spray quick dry and then let them dry and then dabbed the first base coat on top lightly. Once that dried I was able to brush the base coat on fine. The spray quick dry worked so much better.Do paint pens smear if you put a base coat on top?
FIGMENT!!!!!! love ita
Please excuse the paint under the fingernails! : )
My eyes are twisted and holy cow what talented designs.
I'm wondering if anyone has done a jack skellington? I may have missed it.
I'm using Magic Your Band as well for my upcoming trip.View attachment 97806 View attachment 97808 View attachment 97809 View attachment 97810 View attachment 97811 View attachment 97812 View attachment 97814 Alrighty so we got our blue MBs yesterday (our very first ones!!!) and we slapped our Magic Your Band skins on them. Application is fairly easily unless you have a temper like my hubbs...his bubbled up a bit and so it frustrated him but I got them to work just fine.
Orignally I planned to leave my Mickey head solid blue but I really wanted to add some bling! So I went to town with some glittery nail polish...I sealed it with an OPI top coat polish but I'll re-read through here to see if something will seal it better. Anyhoo onto the pics...
Also on an unrelated side note...I didn't expect the MBs to feel so stiff. Oh well.
Well the video the company posted says to use a clean band and I remember reading other posters say that vinyl needs to breathe and not to put a top coat on it. Mine just came in and I'm not planning on using any nail polish.Someone may have answered this already but for those of you who did the magic your band skins how did they hold up? What is the best way to seal them nail polish base coat or some other sealer? I am going on a 12 day trip and would like them to hold up beyond the trip if possible.
- Thanks!
Do you sell any of your bands? I love the Maleficent band. Let me know. Thank youThank you. It would be fun to have another picture of them, but I don't have all of the bands here anymore. A lot of them have gone off with family and friends to see the World!

So I wasn't going to do it, but then I said why not! Here it is. I wanted something to go with my Mickey & Minnie....not the best, but it will do

I really like this - I love Figment. I want Figment to be my next Magic Band. I keep doing Its A Small World.
It looks great. I love the yellow and red. Great job!

Also reporting back that our decorated MB worked great!
We used 3-4 coats of nail polish (99 cent kind), added gems, rhinestones, nail stickers and used sharpies. Put two top coats to seal it all in. Never had a problem, didn't chip or crack either.
CMs and other guests loved them...got tons of compliments.
Manager at OKW asked to take photo to give to their marketing dept to show how guests are personalizing (and I'm sure how to figure out ways to make money doing so).
We were going to purchase the bandits originally but after hearing that they tend to fall off, we decided to decorate. So glad we did!
i used nail polish. just whatever they had at target. i used a thick silver sparkly base coat, did two coats, then went over it with a transparent glitter coat that made it really catch the light. the snowflakes are stuck on jolee stickers from Michael's, and i reinforced them with super glue. did the same thing on the other, but with gold and gingerbread stickers. every single cast member we encountered commented on them. really, really fun. had zero problem with them, they worked flawlessly. we have another trip in January, i'll have two more bands, must think of new ways to do them up.
I used the Sally Hansen No Chip Top Coat.
I glued Swarovski crystals to the Mickey head on my band and had no problems whatsoever with it scanning.
In fact, it made it easier to line up the Mickey head because I could feel the raised part and turn it to face the correct direction.
Thank you. For tink I used a temporary tattoo I had purchased at WDW a while back. But before I put her on the back I used base coat so she would stick better. The rest are nail art decals I had at home n just finished with clear coat when my total design looked the way I wanted. It was all pretty simple.
Outlining the mickey head is easy. Paint as messy as you want. Wait for it to dry. Use finger nail polish remover across the entire area. The paint will stay in the crevice around the mickey head.
Early on in the thread somebody did use modge podge and I beleive that she said that it cracked and I think that is why so many people started using clear nail polish. Hope I'm remembering correctly.
I used regular superglue on ours and the rhinestones stayed on perfectly. I also glued them on over several layers of nail polish and it didn't affect them. We got a LOT of compliments on ours. I made mickey heads and flowers on ours.
Used clear base coat n then added the temp tattoos n after two more coats of the clear base coat.
Yes used temp tattoos. They look and work well. These are our second set of MB we love the way they look.
Added clear base coat waited for it to dry n then added the temp tattoo n the directions in how to apply them then after they were dry I added the base coat again to seal in the temp tattoo. Just added a second coat to make it look nice and shiny. The only reason I use clear base coat is due to the top coat cracks a bit after it's fully dry when the band is bent. U can find temp tattoos on eBay, any party supply store n Amazon.

I used clear base coat, stickers, nail art stickers, nail art pen, pink glitter polish and then clear top coat. I applied the base coat first then applied the stickers. Outlined the mickey head on my band in black. Re coated with base coat, then applied the glitter coat, and then finally top coat. Mine is the only one with glitter. Same steps for all minus the glitter and outlining the head.
I did leave them bent and closed. Need to check and see if they are going to crack when I open them. You are very welcome. I will report back again in a few. Off to check them now.
Just checked them now and there is no cracking when i open them. Maybe using the base coat and the top coat over that helps to keep the cracking from happening.
From what I have read some have bought them online. I bought some at party city. They apply them as you normally would on the along with water. Other have used nail art. They then put a clear coat of nail polish to seal them. They say base coat is best to avoid cracking.
