WE are leaving for Disney tonight! Yes tonight...super excited! But, the forcast shows 60% chance of rain all week... Will this seriously effect our level of fun?

We are driving, (Husband, daughter, daughter's friend, son, and myself)

I already went out and purchased rain ponchoes....maybe I'll get some small unbrellas also....What do you think?

I'd be sure to bring a jumbo ziplock bag to stash the wet umbrellas if you do. Many prefer to just go the poncho or rain coat route to avoid the hassle of dealing with umbrellas. Up to you. As for your fun, it may dampen you, but it is your choice as to how much it dampens your spirits! Honestly, one of my favorite times was at DLR in a downpour. Except when water ran off the outside ending part of IASW from a bridge straight into our seat. Not so magical. But otherwise, it lessens the crowds and was easy to go from ride to ride.

Florida weather is absolutely crazy. Most likely, EVERYONE will see some rain during their trip. Thunderstorms will come and pass. They can be intense. Since I live in Florida, I'm used to it. We just hide out in a gift shop until it passes. It almost never rains all day in Florida. Likewise, it's less likely to rain at night here. It's the heat and humidity that causes the huge storm clouds. Most of the time, there's an afternoon thunderstorm or two.

Honestly, 60% isn't that bad of a percentage for Florida this time of year.

Oh...good idea about the ziplock bags. We will probably try to stick to the rain coats, but I'd like to have a couple of small ubrellas just incase. I didn't even think about smaller crowds...that's a plus!!

We tried the ponchos, but we just got so hot & sweaty with that plastic covering your body in the Florida heat. That plastic just doesn't breath well and the hood effects your side vision as well. We ditched the ponchos and got small umbrellas. My wife was carrying a small pack of sorts and the umbrellas fit in the pack when we were done with them. We felt sooo much better once we got those ponchos off. They made us so sweaty in the heat. That's just our preference. Just an option for you to consider. The last time we went, they rain chances were high all week but it really didn't disrupt our trip that much.

I didn't even think about how hot it would be under plastic...duh!! No, I don't think we want to actually bake ourselves...This is exactly why I posted here....I know that someone will post something that I would have never thought of....Dissers are awsome!!

We are staying at AKL my husband suggested we look into the community center activities for the kids if it rains in the morning....or during our "pool" time.

If it rains it doesn't mean it will be all day, it might just be for a few minutes to an hour. I wouldn't worry to much about it. Just make sure that you have a plan for each park when it does rain. I wouldn't leave the park if you don't have to because the parks clear out quickly and you will be able to get on some of the longer line rides faster.

Don't worry about it! We have been in June multiple times. Typical day is sunny, an afternoon shower or storm rolls across for 30 minutes or an hour, and then sunny again. You just keep going when it rains. You can go in a store, go to an indoor show, ride an indoor ride etc. As far as pool time, if it is just rain without lighting, you are going to be wet at the pool anyway! Even if you had a day with a lot of rain, you can just keep going at WDW. We've done it and still had a great day. At least this time of year it would be a warm rain, not a cold rain!

Let's just say WDW is the only thing keeping me in this state ;) lol, jk!

I think while it's raining is a great time to shop around. A bonus is that the park is boticeably emptier once the rain stops. Everyone goes running for the hills!

We don't do ponchos either, if you have a car run to Walmart and get the frog togs jackets for the kids, and lined wind breakers for adults about $18. Also some water shoes or Crocs. The vacations was much nicer when we ordered raingear that breathed from Cabelas and had it sent to the resort. But, for it being in limbo, the jackets have made numerous trips. With something the repels the rain, has a peeked hood to run off and Crocs or water shoes on, we just treked away.
The wet shirts, and sneakers are a park breaker for my family. If I can keep them comfortable rain isn't a vacation wrecker.

We were there May 17-23. Everyday they predicted storms some days with as high as an 80% chance of rain. It rained once and for less than 5 minutes when we were there! Not a drop of rain on 80% chance day. There were a couple of times where lightning shut down rides, but no rain with those.

Try not to worry. I thought our trip would be ruined by the forecast and turns out they were just really wrong.

Use Ziplocks for your shoes and socks too and bring flipflops or crocs that can be dried easily.

Really don't have any hints but wanted to add something. Our favorite Epcot day in over 20 years was on a rainy day. My dh and I decided to see what we could and not worry about getting wet. Our kids had a ball. By the end of the day we were all jumping in the puddles and enjoying an empty park. My hair was scary and we were all a sight but we had sooooo much fun. Made for a great memory. Have a great trip.

When we go in September it's gets kinda sticky under a poncho in the rain. I bought a small umbrella from Disney last year and used that and liked it much better. The rain usually don't stick around too long!!

Take it from someone who spent 4 days of a vacation with a 9 year-old, a 2 year-old and a tropical storm. You'll be fine if you stay encouraged. Some breathable rain gear is good for short lived rain.

If you have sneakers that get wet stop at the front and get extra wash cloths. Stuff them into the shoes and they'll dry faster.

Keep going and as others have said, you'll see much shorter lines. Turn rain gear inside out when you put it away so the interior isn't wet if you need to put it back on.

Have fun

We are in a little drought right now and need the rain desperately. If this drought continues we can see wildfires again which is not good.

Update: I am writing this from a lounge chair at Blizzard Beach...we are having an amazing time. We did have some rain over each day, except for today, but used a combination of umbrellas and ponchos. I'm so glad that we were prepared for the weather conditions. It made things much easier. We also decided on quick drying sandals...for some reason my phone won't let me name them. It auto corrects..... incorrectly.! We have two more days left and rain or shine we are going to have a blast! Thanks for all of the helpful advice...I knew this was the place to get excellent ideas from people who know Disney

Rain is our secret weapon! It clears out the crowd and cools everything down. We look forward to it! I feel smothered by a poncho but we all wear ball caps. I also put EVERYTHING in zip lock baggies in our park bag before we leave the room each day.
