We spent 5 glorious days on Hilton Head Island in a 1 bedroom unit, building 18, with a marsh view.

We arrived at the resort on Sunday around noon, of course, our room was not ready. We headed to the pool, my girls really enjoyed the Big Dipper pool area, ample lounge chairs but very few tables with chairs. I noticed a large number of lounge chairs to have towels but no people for three straight hrs, I did notice after 3 hrs a cast member walking around picking up towels off of unoccupied chairs.

We rec'd a text that our room was ready at around 2:25 so off we went to explore of unit. Beautiful job on the refurb, no issues at all with the inside of the unit, awesome view of the marsh. We did request a hand mixer which was quickly brought. On Monday they began some improvements to the unit right next door so that wasn't so pleasant to see for the remainder of the week, but the workers although not Disney employees were very friendly.

We thoroughly enjoyed out time at the beach house and beach. We spent the bulk of our daylight hrs on the beach, boogie boarding, sand castle building and just relaxing.

I learned a few things on this trip. 1) Disney does not own the land at the beach house that the parking lot is on and anyone can park there, this was not an issue for us due to our arriving by 0930 every morning. However, on 2 occasions we rec'd a msg in room that the parking lot was full and that guests needed to take the shuttle. 2.) Liquor is not sold after 7 p.m. on any day of the week!!!

We sadly did not participate in any of the resort activities this trip so I cannot shed light on those.

Off Resort Activites
We did however enjoy the Zipline Hilton Head Aerial Adventure, my group consisted of myself, son (22), sons gf (19), and dd's (8,10). They had a blast and have already requested that we do this again when we return. We also played putt putt at Pirate Island, awesome themed island putt-putt.

Food
We made a grocery stop at Whole Foods and Publix our first evening and purchased ribs, filet, breast items, produce, etc.

We did have dinner at Frankie Bones, drinks were awesome as were the appetizers but avoid the alfredo at all costs. Cool stop we would go again. Stu's subs, Coligney Plaza, is a hole in the wall mom and pop place but they make their bread fresh and the service was great, would definitely go again. Sweet Carolina Cupcakes, great selection, friendly staff, some cupcakes were awesome some were good. Frosty Frog, advertises 190 proof alcohol, good luck finding the alcohol in any drink, our table ordered three different drinks and could not find a hint of alcohol. When we asked the waitress about the amount of alcohol she had no idea and said they were all pre mixed, very disappointing. The food was just ok, we never received plates for our appetizers. About an hr after our meal two people in our group developed some, lets say, GI issues. Would not return here. We also had lunch at the Beach House counter service one day, it was typical Disney fast food. I ordered the tuna sandwich, it was nice but huge, 2 people could have easily shared it. Pino Gelato, great selection, great service!!!!

All in all, a great trip!!!!

Lack of food at the "resort" kinda kills things. The gift shop is marginal, although for the lack of crowds, it'll do. Wasn't super impressed with the stay myself. I went down in December and the place was a ghost town. Not just the resort, but the Island itself. Have never seen outlets that abandoned during the Christmas shopping season!

Can you tell me more about the Aerial Adventure? The website says 5 and up. My youngest just turned 6? Would he really be capable of doing it? And just how physically fit does an adult need to be? Thanks!

Glad you had a great time!!!

We were there for 5 nights early May. Our second stay. We really fell in love with HH this time around. I also learned on this trip the same fact - Disney does not own the land and anyone can park there. Your second comment - is there no liquor sold after 7 pm at the resort? The restaurants/the Island?

And Yes, Pino Gelato is great!!!

My 8 yr old daughter is all of 52 lbs, which is why we did not do the zip line, min. weight of 80 lbs is required to zip line. Aerial Adventure-The green course can be done I feel like by almost anyone, keeping in mind you are 15-20 ft off the ground. The blue course can be completed by people who are marginally athletic, but the 2 black diamond course would require a lot of upper body strength. The guides were wonderful at helping my youngest daughter thru the first time, after that the kiddo zipped thru a 2nd time on her own with confidence.

You can purchase mixed drinks at bars and restaurants but you cannot go to a liquor store and purchase your magical star cocktail supplies after 7 p.m. Lesson learned purchase supplies before 7 p.m. if your mixing drinks in your room. :)

Got it! Thank you :)

Thank you!! Still trying to decide if we'll do it this time. We're heading down in two weeks - can't wait!!

How was it having 5 people in a 1 bedroom?
My MIL might be joining us when we go.

If you and your dh take the bedroom, your MIL will be sleeping in the living with the kids.
She did that at BLT in our 2009 trip. Only difference was there were 2 bathrooms. I did read a trip report that complained about the lack of storage space in the 1 bedroom at HH. Hopefully we won't have an issue.
