lorimay - I am so jealous! The Hawaii cruise is something I'd like to try one year. But I love exploring Hawaii's islands that it would be hard for me to get back on the ship! I have a blog post on the Aulani here. We stayed there in 2011. It was a short but amazing stay. I think you will love it!
Yes...I want to go back on the cruise so badly! We actually booked another for Feb 2016 using the onboard discount...and I'm trying to recruit family and friends to go, but so far, there is no one biting, plus Feb is so far away!!! Actually it is 267 days to be exact...so I guess it is sooner than 289 days! How did you get over your depression? For me writing this TR is therapeutic!
I love food pics! You are my type of gal. Key West looks awesome, I'd love to rent a beach house and spend a week down there.
Thanks! Good to know my obsession with eating and food hasn't driven anyone away...yet. Key West was beautiful. It was such a cool little town. So beach-y and laid back. Yes I would return too and a beach house sounds lovely!

Key West Day Part 3: Animator's Palate dinner
We got ready and headed down to deck 4 for our dinner at Animator's Palate. I was really excited about this dinner because I've heard so many good things about the Drawn to Magic show and couldn't wait to see it first hand! On the way we passed through the gallery where they had all the Disney artwork for sale and display. I'd love to get some for my house when I do have the $$ for it!
Ready for dinner!
I loved the theme of Animator's Palate
Everything is black and white when you first enter.
I didn't realize it but we were dressed in black and white too! We were themed without even knowing it!
Everyone met up at dinner. Maddie was Snow White tonight! So cute!
Steve's bro, Mike, gave us a bunny ear photobomb! Can you just see the excitement for dinner in my face!?!?! I literally didn't stop smiling from the moment I landed in Orlando...
I just about died over the cute little paintbrush butter knives. They sold them on the ship at the store! I bought 2 of them to take home. LOVE.
To drink, I got cranberry juice. The first night, I asked for a cup of ice, as I always like my drinks ice cold, and tonight Gerado brought it to me without me even having to ask. He did it every night since then. We were really spoiled. I can't even ask for a cup of ice now without thinking...but..but, Disney would have gotten ice for me without me asking!
To start, I got the black truffle pasta pursettes. They were really good, that I ordered another serving and split it with DH!
Truffle-y cheesy goodness in each bite!
DH got the smoked salmon tartar
Throughout dinner, the screens on the walls started to get more color:

As an entree, I got the sirloin steak, med-rare. It was pretty decent, not the best nor worst steak I've had.
DH got the sea bass...I was contemplating this entree too and I'm glad I didn't get it, it was way too salty!
Maddie was getting tired...
Pretty soon the walls were coming to life! The show was about to start!
Here's a video I have of the Drawn to Magic show! It's funny as you can see Maddie fall asleep through the show...aww. She would have enjoyed it I'm sure! The music for the show is from Fantasmic! at DHS which is one of my favorite shows at WDW...so I really loved the Drawn to Magic show!
The waiters all changed into colorful vests at the end...I'm sure they just turn it inside out or something.
For dessert, I got the sundae, which had cookies n cream ice cream. It was yummy!
DH got the chocolate brownie cheesecake. I thought it was just eh...I really have an aversion to brownies. I don't like them. I know it's odd because I like chocolate cake but it's just that I had a horrible experience with a brownie once...don't ask.
After dinner we walked around decks 3 and 4...it was a very pretty view of Key West as we darparted.
And then, we saw Pluto!! So we had to get a picture.

We were holding a place for Maddie in line behind us, since she ran into D lounge with her mom because she saw Donald...her dad, Mike came to wait in line behind us for her but she never came out! We ran in to D lounge to find her after we took our picture but it was too late. I told Mike he should have just let people go ahead of him, but I guess he felt bad. Sorry Maddie had to miss out on characters tonight but there will be plenty more to come!
We did see a Donald-led conga line in D Lounge though!
Tonights show was Villains Tonight! It was good but note to people with young kids...this show can be scary! Maddie had to leave in the middle because there were a lot of loud noises, flashing lights, and well, villains! I thought it was more slapstick than the other shows but it did have its moments.

I'm really enjoying your trip report. We've thought about a Disney Cruise so I know your report will help me decide if it's right for us. Your photos are great. All your food looks so good. I also enjoyed the little tour of Key West. Can't wait to read more!

Hi there! Great to see you here! We had a great time...our family consisted of people with kids, older parents, one single guy, and us, a couple with no kids. All of us had an AMAZING time on the cruise. I have taken a cruise before on RCL. It was a beautiful ship, but it was lacking any character...and of course my love for Disney just trumps everything...LOL. To me it is worth the extra cost of taking a Disney Cruise Vaction. I just can't go anywhere else for a really long time!
Thank you! I'm so encouraged by your comments to keep writing this TR. We do eat a lot. I'm relieved I haven't everyone away...with our insatiable appetites.

Again, it was so great to meet you all! And what a coincidence! As I've already said, my only regret is that we didn't make plans for meeting back up.
First off, I cannot wait for you to see my TR title... you directly reference it in your intros. I decided on this title while I was still at Disney so the fact that you practically said it in your intro just had me cracking up.
OMG Maddie is absolutely adorable! I love the princess dresses she is rockin!
I, too, remember the good ole Carvel ice cream birthday cakes from childhood.

Day At Sea Part 1: Palo Brunch
Today was our first and only day at sea! I had pre-booked a facial at the spa for myself later in the afternoon, but first we had a reservation at brunch for Palo! We were going with DH, his brother, Jimmy, and their parents. Maddie, Mike and Sandy weren't going to join us because it was an adults-only restaurant and they were just going to hang with Maddie.We were excited to try Palo since we had heard so much about it.
But first, since we were up early again, DH and I went to the gym and had breakfast at Cabanas...I had my usual plate stuffed full of food plus a bowl of muesli. I really liked that stuff! It looks like oatmeal but it's actually cold, with lots of fruit, raisins, and has a creamy texture.
After breakfast I got myself a latte from Cove Cafe and we went to the adult pool. We hung around there until we had to get ready for lunch. It wasn't that crowded that early in the morning but by the time we left, it was pretty crowded and there were people waiting for our lounge chairs.
Palo is located on Deck 10...there are some amazing views from the restaurant, which is great for people there during brunch as you can see all the lovely water views:

We checked in and our hostess took us on a brief tour of the buffet table set up, then she brought us over to our table. We were brought champagne (DH and myself) and sparkling cider for the non-drinkers.
Steve's parents were excited for brunch!
So was I!!
I look a little more presentable today because I made the effort to do my hair and dried it with a round brush. I honestly couldn't be bothered any other day because it was too hot and it was going to frizz up in the wind anyways...so voila, here is my only good hair day!
We toasted with our drinks - to good health and a fabulous cruise!
We were taken around the buffet table by our gracious server who was from India, and at each station he explained all the different offerings. We were also taken to the display table for all the food we could get made-to-order.
Now the fun begins! Here's some pictures of the buffet table set up. I think I tried almost everything:

This is one of the possible 12 plates of food I ate...I'm not saying that I ate 12 plates of food...but it was a possibility...

I tried some chilled strawberry soup, it was pretty good, like a yogurt soup:
And the tomato basil soup was delicious, rich and robust:

Gorgonzola orecchiette:
Salmon with cous cous:
Some desserts:
OK so we may have went back for more crab, shrimp and caviar after dessert:
We also ordered some more different pastas and one of the pizzas to share for the table. Everything was great! I really liked the fact that they had caviar with all the traditional accompaniments. I kept going back for more! What can I say...I have expensive food tastes...I like seafood, caviar, sushi, great steak....but then again I also love chicken nuggets and fries. I guess I like ALL food. LOL.
We were soo full after brunch! Here's a group shot of us. I think Palo is worth the up charge and I would definitely do brunch again!
After lunch we all kinda did their own thing...DH went to take a nap and so did Steve's parents. Jimmy went off exploring and so did I!
Here's a very empty Shutters photo studio. On the last day of the cruise, it was packed!
I magically ran to run into one of my favorites...Goofy! It was not a scheduled appearance or meet n greet. He was just roaming around Deck 4 and it was empty! A castmember took my picture. I LOVE this ship!
Then I went to meet Donald. His line was quite long. I finally got to meet him after waiting around in the sun (his meet n greet was outdoors) for about 15 minutes.
Got a picture of me taking a selfie!
And here's the selfie!
I went to Cove Cafe for even more coffee.
It was really relaxing and nice to get away from the heat!
After enjoying my coffee I walked by the adult pool. PACKED! I'm glad I went swimming earlier.
I walked all the way forward and found a totally empty section of the ship. It was so peaceful and there was a lovely breeze. It was like I had the ship to myself!
There was a nice bench to hang out on, and I just hung out there enjoying the breeze and the views.
Coming up, I get my first spa treatment and our dinner at Carioca's!!

Hi Tracy!!! I can't wait to read your TR! I'm so excited to see what your TR title is...LOL!
I didn't actually go on the water slides...I did mean to, but I just kind ran out of time! Before I knew it the cruise was over...
I'm not so terribly fond of water slides...especially in public. I really don't need my bathing suit riding up all over me... HA it is not a pretty picture. Let's just say I did everyone a great service by NOT going on the slides LOL...maybe next time!Yeah I'm not even sure Bonine is an actual medication. I think it's a placebo pill that tricks your mind into thinking it's getting better so that's how you overcome motion sickness. LOL At least that's the case with me...I must have placed so much trust in that one Bonine I took that I didn't need it anymore!
Key west was good fun! It's so laid back and low key. You must have had some great vacations there! And yes, Duval street was the main street that we walked on. The Key West key lime pie co was sooo good! Next time I will try the extra tart one!

Day at Sea Part 2: Senses Spa, Carioca's dinner, Avengers 2
After our gastronomical brunch at Palo, I was plenty full, but walking around the ship did help. By the time it was 3:00pm I was so ready for my spa appt! I had booked a Marine Collagen facial prior to boarding the ship. I realized that there were more discounted treatments on port days, so I will be sure to take advantage of that next time.
The Senses Spa exterior was newly renovated but the inside treatment rooms were pretty much the original design. It was fine though, and reminded me a bit of the Grand Floridian in decor.
Spa treatment room:
My facial was very nice and all the tension in my neck and shoulders melted away. I also did notice my face was having a reaction to the sunscreen I was using especially when I was sweating in the heat too, so the facialist recommended some products for me. I actually really liked the products so I did buy them but I didn't feel pressure to do so.
After my facial, I hung out in the room for a bit. I didn't know where DH was so I relaxed and had a glass of wine on the verandah. I just love the view.
The blue waters of the Caribbean....so lovely!!
DH came back to the room at that point. He went to one of those shopping seminars with mom. The Port Shopping expert, Gemma, was talking about the various jewelry for sale in the Bahamas and how to shop for the best quality and prices.
Pretty soon we had to get ready for dinner. The only problem with the early seating is that you will probably not be ravenous unless you skip lunch, eat an early lunch, or a light lunch. It's ok. It has never stopped me from eating a full dinner, but it may be an issue for others who are not big eaters.
Dinner tonight was at the Latin-themed Carioca's!
It was a fun lively atmosphere inside the restaurant!
We had some delicious banana bread waiting for us at the table.
Since today is my one good hair day of the cruise, I had to show you another picture:
I just love it when older people embrace today's technology. Here's Steve's mom taking a selfie! Or rather, a wefie!
Here's a picture of the wave phones. There are 2 in each room. You can text on them but know that it's not a smart phone so the texting feature is the really old school kind, and takes forever.
Maddie took a nap before dinner so she was awake for this meal!
To start, I got the beef empanada. It was very tasty:
DH got the tuna and avocado tartare. It was good too but I couldn't help noticing that my tuna dish on our first night was considerably fresher than today's. Not sure if it's the same tuna? I mean, it wasn't bad or anything but there was a slight variation in flavor that I picked up on, but I'm pretty picky with anything raw I eat.
For the salad course I got the pineapple and avocado salad. It was delicious! I love both pineapple and avocado so this was right up my alley.
DH got the black bean soup. It had a blended texture so no chunks of beans. It was pretty good.
I got the ribeye entree, which essentially was prime rib. I ate about half of it before I couldn't eat anymore since I was still digesting lunch.
DH got the mixed skewers, which had one lamb, sausage, and beef skewer, with a giant shrimp and tomato rice. It was good and definitely a lot of food!
I really liked the presentation of the skewers:
For dessert, I got the panna cotta. It was ok. I am not sure what DH got. I have to say that other than my first dessert (the souffle at Lumiere's), I was not really impressed with the dessert offerings at the rotational restaurants. I'd probably stick to ice cream sundaes...
Zjolt and Gerado had some fun up their sleeve. First Gerado taught us Mexican...not Spanish, but Mexican. He taught us how to high five and say "Chocalas!" Then they made napkin hats for us. It was really cute.
Maddie got a Minnie bow. Not sure if she liked it. She's probably not a hat person:

Steve got...Dumbo!! I thought it was pretty ingenious to use the plate covers to represent ears.
I got the most elaborate hat...it literally weighed like 10 lbs. I was the "exotic Bird of Paradise." according to Gerado. LOL. I am ready for my star turn in the Enchanted Tiki Room!
To round it out, Mike got a hat that I think was sorcerer Mickey, and Sandy was Jasmine. Here's a group pic of all of us:

Tonight's show was Twice Charmed, a spin on the Cinderella story. Everyone decided to watch it and Maddie even stayed for the entire show! It was a good show, I liked it better than Villains.
Tonight was also the premier of Avengers: Age of Ultron on the ship. DH and I already saw it but we wanted to see it again since we thought it was a bit confusing the first time. We were going to catch the 10:45 show since it'll probably be the least crowded, so we had time to chill in our stateroom for a while before the show.

The Avengers 2 movie I thought was ok the first time, and I still think it's ok after 2nd time. I just find a lot of plot gaps and things which were kind of strange. but oh well. it's still an entertaining Marvel movie.
Since it was early am when the movie was over, it was time to hit the sack!
If you thought today was a feast, wait until tomorrow when we eat our way through Nassau, Bahamas! Plus, it was Pirate Night!! Ahoy Mateys!!
After our gastronomical brunch at Palo, I was plenty full, but walking around the ship did help. By the time it was 3:00pm I was so ready for my spa appt! I had booked a Marine Collagen facial prior to boarding the ship. I realized that there were more discounted treatments on port days, so I will be sure to take advantage of that next time.
The Senses Spa exterior was newly renovated but the inside treatment rooms were pretty much the original design. It was fine though, and reminded me a bit of the Grand Floridian in decor.

My facial was very nice and all the tension in my neck and shoulders melted away. I also did notice my face was having a reaction to the sunscreen I was using especially when I was sweating in the heat too, so the facialist recommended some products for me. I actually really liked the products so I did buy them but I didn't feel pressure to do so.
After my facial, I hung out in the room for a bit. I didn't know where DH was so I relaxed and had a glass of wine on the verandah. I just love the view.

DH came back to the room at that point. He went to one of those shopping seminars with mom. The Port Shopping expert, Gemma, was talking about the various jewelry for sale in the Bahamas and how to shop for the best quality and prices.
Pretty soon we had to get ready for dinner. The only problem with the early seating is that you will probably not be ravenous unless you skip lunch, eat an early lunch, or a light lunch. It's ok. It has never stopped me from eating a full dinner, but it may be an issue for others who are not big eaters.
Dinner tonight was at the Latin-themed Carioca's!
It was a fun lively atmosphere inside the restaurant!
We had some delicious banana bread waiting for us at the table.
Since today is my one good hair day of the cruise, I had to show you another picture:
I just love it when older people embrace today's technology. Here's Steve's mom taking a selfie! Or rather, a wefie!
Here's a picture of the wave phones. There are 2 in each room. You can text on them but know that it's not a smart phone so the texting feature is the really old school kind, and takes forever.
Maddie took a nap before dinner so she was awake for this meal!
To start, I got the beef empanada. It was very tasty:
DH got the tuna and avocado tartare. It was good too but I couldn't help noticing that my tuna dish on our first night was considerably fresher than today's. Not sure if it's the same tuna? I mean, it wasn't bad or anything but there was a slight variation in flavor that I picked up on, but I'm pretty picky with anything raw I eat.
For the salad course I got the pineapple and avocado salad. It was delicious! I love both pineapple and avocado so this was right up my alley.
DH got the black bean soup. It had a blended texture so no chunks of beans. It was pretty good.
I got the ribeye entree, which essentially was prime rib. I ate about half of it before I couldn't eat anymore since I was still digesting lunch.
DH got the mixed skewers, which had one lamb, sausage, and beef skewer, with a giant shrimp and tomato rice. It was good and definitely a lot of food!
I really liked the presentation of the skewers:
For dessert, I got the panna cotta. It was ok. I am not sure what DH got. I have to say that other than my first dessert (the souffle at Lumiere's), I was not really impressed with the dessert offerings at the rotational restaurants. I'd probably stick to ice cream sundaes...
Zjolt and Gerado had some fun up their sleeve. First Gerado taught us Mexican...not Spanish, but Mexican. He taught us how to high five and say "Chocalas!" Then they made napkin hats for us. It was really cute.
Maddie got a Minnie bow. Not sure if she liked it. She's probably not a hat person:

Steve got...Dumbo!! I thought it was pretty ingenious to use the plate covers to represent ears.
I got the most elaborate hat...it literally weighed like 10 lbs. I was the "exotic Bird of Paradise." according to Gerado. LOL. I am ready for my star turn in the Enchanted Tiki Room!
To round it out, Mike got a hat that I think was sorcerer Mickey, and Sandy was Jasmine. Here's a group pic of all of us:

Muesli is soo good! It's becoming more popular in the US...everyone seems to be making their version of overnight oats. I made some with almond milk the other day...mmm

I love Goofy and love that he was just roaming around the ship!! I love moments like that. I got my key necklace in Mexico in the World Showcase! I bought a couple more necklaces on this trip...I also found out they are sold in a couple other places at WDW, and most unbeknownst to me is a kiosk outside of POTC...too funny!
