We are going to stay 2 nights at a Universal Hotel followed by our 4 night Disney Dream cruise & then 8 nights onsite at Old Key West, however we are not sure what hotel to pick for our Universal stay. We are a family of 5 - 2 adults & 3 kids ( 6, 4 2 ) What Universal Hotel would you recommend.

Thanks x

If you are concerned about money, but not worried about standing in line, I'd say Cabana Bay.

My choice is always Royal Pacific. I want the Express Pass when we stay, and Royal Pacific tends to be the cheapest of the 3 deluxe. I also love the island theme and the walk to the parks from RP.

Royal pacific is a fantastic resort, but if you're walking to the parks it can be a bit of a hike, especially at the end of the day. I've always preferred the Hard Rock for its closer proximity and it's theming, but the truth is all their resorts are high end and very nice. (Haven't visited the new Cabana resort, but reviews are generally positive.)

Will you be using the pool? If not, I would choose a deluxe room at the Hard Rock. It has two queen beds and a pullout couch that will give your family lots of room.

Have a look at each of them and decide which theme you would prefer.

They are all different and we all have our favourites........you can't really go wrong with any of the three deluxe hotels.

I prefer RPR for the initial ambience and the beautiful lobby. PBR is a close second and is my go to when my entire family of 5 is going. A little bit more room and we love Sal's!

We are at RP now and the whole family loves it. Great theming, nice and quiet, beautiful pool area, and walk or boat to parks. Our family actually really enjoys the walk to the parks. The walkway is gorgeously landscaped and shady. We would stay here again for sure.

i so agree with this poster.

the small pool would be ideal for your children.
there is also the sandy beach area near the volleyball net where they could dig and play in the sand.
nicely secured area and not much noise from the pool area.

if you plan to spend a lot of time in the park, especially the studios, hrh would be a very short walk to that park.
but they don't have a small kiddie pool like the rpr and pbh does.

Look at them and pick one you like..Everyone here has their favorite for their own reasons..Portofino is ours..It is also the furthest from the parks ( still walkable or a dedicated boat ride). But we like the larger rooms., the 3 pools, the theming and that it feels away from the parks

Royal Pacific gets my vote and I have booked my 3rd stay here for August. I visited HRH for a pool hopping day and I wasn't impressed. RPR is so very relaxing and you feel like you are vacationing in the South Pacific.....ahhhhhh....:beach: To be fair, I have no experience with PBR but you can't go wrong with the Royal Pacific imho. As pp has said, go with a deluxe resort for the unlimited express passes....so worth the extra cost!
