Lost Child's Prescription Glasses at WDW

Our 3 year old son lost his prescription glasses on Wednesday 5/27 at Magic Kingdom. My husband was taking him for a nap. He was angry he wasn't riding Winnie the Pooh and the threw them while my husband was holding him over his shoulder. My husband realized about 3-5 minutes later and they were no where to be found.

We talked to city hall multiple times that day and the following day. We called the lost and found at the TTC who didn't have them but filed a report.

We were thinking of going down to the TTC to see if they'll let us look through the glasses lost that day. They are the flexible miraflex frames with a strap, so I'm not sure everyone will realize they are prescription glasses except that they have transition lenses. They cost ~$300 when we bought them 3 weeks ago, so we'd love to get them back.

Any tips on getting them back? Will they let us look through the glasses?

It takes a bit of time for Disney to catalogue all of the lost items so that may be why the central lost and found had no information on them when you called. You can certainly stop by and explain your predicament. Chances are good that they will let you look through the glasses bins.

My dad lost his prescription sunglasses (transitions too) on The Great Movie Ride. He called the night he lost them. The next day he got a call that they were at the TTC. He went that morning to pick them up. Make sure you describe exactly what they look like and where they were lost. Hoping you here soon.

Yes, go to TTC. I've never seen them not allow people to look through the found glasses. They're always very nice and accommodating. I'm a mom of 6 boys and have been there several times. I'd be very sad if we lost a pair of Miraflexes, too.

I lost my $500 prescription glasses. I went to the TTC and looked through their Ziploc bags of glasses. I found them in the second bag and the woman brought out 3 bags for me to search. She told me most people don't come back to try and claim them. I would definitely make a trip and look through the bags.

Wow, that was nice to look through them. We had been at Epcot and out the front was a lost and found. We had to describe exactly. I remember being a little confused on the shape, and they said I had to exactly tell them, no I couldn't look through. What a pain they were. I gave up being really annoyed. I thought I may as well invest in reg glasses and get the bifocal ones back home.

this doesn't help you now, but we're huge fans of zeni optical online (http://www.zennioptical.com) for my 3 year old. Her first pair of glasses were the $240 nearly indestructible ones. As you're finding out now, though, I think the bigger risk with tiny kids and glasses is loss, not destruction. I'm pretty sure the expensive glasses are in the bottom of the bay right now.
So we bought 3 pairs of $25 glasses. One got lost, but we still have two others and they work great. And even if they get destroyed, we're still WAY ahead of the game compared to the expensive ones.

Do you have a photo of him in them to show them at the TTC, or even to leave with them? That might be very helpful. The good thing is that kids' glasses are more likely to be turned in than some of the other items that get lost, so I think there is a good chance you will get them back -well unless they landed in the middle of a bush somewhere and are hidden. When DD lost a pin lanyard, we were told it could be 48 hours after things were turned in before they showed up at the TTC. (Of course, we didn't get the lanyard back. She knew she had left it on a hook in a bathroom stall and whoever found it did not turn it in. Did I mention she did this twice on 2 separate trips! The second time, we were back in Tusker House within 5 minutes of her leaving it, and it was long gone. Both times her lanyard had several DL pins on it, so I'm sure someone was interested in those).

I hope you find them! DD always wore the Miraflexes when she was small too. They were definitely the best for her, but they were pricey. Her lenses for her prescription are always ridiculously expensive too. Fingers crossed that they will show up. Do yours have any kind of warranty? Probably doesn't apply to lost glasses as opposed to damaged glasses, but you might check. I know that we used our warranty and got DD brand new glasses for free when the dog tried to eat hers.
