Loews Royal Pacific vs Cabana Beach?

I am trying to decide if The Royal Pacific is a better fit for my family.

For those that know better, can I ask how the two pools compare. I have two 17 year old boys

Also, the rooms? Since they don't want to sleep in the same bed I must get a rollaway bed in the Royal Pacific with the 2 queens vs the family suite in the Cabana Beach.

The Royal Pacific has two options available: waterview and standard
What would you pick? if the cost was 30 more per night?

Also, the Royal Pacific is 200 to 300 more for the total stay then the Cabana.

However, you do get the express pass at the Royal Pacific. Something you do not get at Cabana.

Our stay is mid June

Is it better to stay at Royal or Cabana?

Royal Pacific..You can pool hop to any of the resorts if you don't like the pool .Express passes are worth the extra money

Royal, express, short walk, water taxi, relaxing.

Since you are talking about visiting in June, I would suggest RP as well.

You can visit Cabana. There are times you can go to Universal and you don't need espress pass. June is not one of these times.

Are you driving to this vacation? If so, could you bring an Aerobed for your second child to use instead of renting a roll-away bed? We did that for our kids (girl and boy adult children). They took turns sleeping on the bed and the mattress. I also say you need to stay at Royal Pacific in June. The Express Passes included will make your trip so much better. The pool there is great....we spent all afternoon each day of our trip there gathering sun, participating in some of the contests, and eating at the Bula Bar.

We just returned from 6 nights at RPR with 5 in a room. I felt it was tight, however I loved the hotel and would stay there over CB. We went over to CB one night for dinner and were not impressed. It was loud and busy. The food court workers were seriously stressed out and miserable. Plus it seemed like there were bare bones staff. Granted it was Sunday night, but I just felt completely like I had to fend for myself if I had questions about anything. We are used to staying at Disney value resorts and enjoy them, but I got a bad vibe off CB and was happy I wasn't staying there.

having two 17 year old teens, i would think they would be spending most of the waking hours in the parks, city walk, or pools.

rough it and do an aerobed or rent a rollaway for the room.

it is very manageable to have in the room is your primary reason is to only spend time in the room for sleeping

my thoughts are don't skimp on the room due to costs.
stay at one of the deluxes and receive the unlimited usage of the express pass for the parks.
money well spent.

less travel time to the parks from rpr than from Cbay.

go standard room as it is cheaper than the water view rooms.

When it comes to pricing, if you stay at Cabana and purchase the express pass, you are still saving money from what rooms at other Univ. Stud. hotels are pricing at. (For us, it was worth the savings to stay at Cabana and purchase the express pass.)

In the case of the OP, single use express passes are $90/day and unlimited is $110 for their dates. For four people in the room that is $360/day. I'd definitely go Royal Pacific as it will be more expensive to go Cabana Bay. They can also pool hop if they want to use any other pool. I'd actually consider a deluxe room at the Hard Rock since it has two queens and a pullout.

I'm with most the others. Royal Pacific all the way. We love pool hopping, and visit all the other pools, but there's no way we'd go in the summer without Express Passes.

I'd rather sleep in the Royal Pacific lobby than wait in lines at the park :thumbsup2

You have to count also the travel time from CB to the bus stop then to Citywalk hub, then walk to the parks. At RPR it's a quick walk to the boat dock from any tower. Also the walk from RPR to CW is shorter than CW hub to center of CW.

We stayed at CB for a night before moving to RPR as we wanted to try it. We will defiantly go back but while we stayed there we hung out and enjoyed the resort and never went to CW or the parks.

actually, it would depend on the dates of stay at Cbay if it would be cheaper there than staying at the deluxe for unlimited express passes.

Let me clarify my earlier response. For what I am purchasing for three of us, to stay in July, to stay at Cabana is costing me about $500.00 less than if I stayed at Royal (and purchasing unlimited). I will also admit that I am more of a Disney person and am staying at Wilderness Lodge later in the month. Everyone has their own preference. I would rather save $500 at USF and spend it at Disney!:tinker:

Really? Are you looking at Universal's site, or discount sites? On the UO site, Cabana Bay is about $140-$170 per night for most of July, and RPR is about $270-$350 per night. So at best, Cabana Bay is $200 per night less than RPR.

Unlimited Express Passes are running from $100-$140 per person per day in July, so you're looking at a minimum of $300-$400 per day just in Unlimited Express Passes - the price of RPR per night alone is probably cheaper on most days than UEP for 3 people. Add in the cost of Cabana Bay, and you're usually $150-$200 night MORE for CBBR + Express than for RPR.

So, even assuming you found a bargain-basement price for CBBR, the UEPs aren't ever on sale (that I've found), and UO's current "rack rate" for RPR is cheaper than the UEP for 3 people.

I'm not saying that you're wrong - all kinds of strange deals are out there, and you may have found one. It's just usually cheaper to stay at the Deluxe resorts if you want the Unlimited Express Passes, and this July seems to be no exception for "normal" prices.

Ya, I can't quite figure it out either. Even going the package route and adding the unlimited express with ticket, it works out to be more expensive doing Cabana Bay. Standard room, two adults with one child works out to be $1832 at Cabana Bay using dates July 13-16 and 3 day parkhoppers with unlimited express added. Royal Pacific is $1765 standard room, two adults with one child plus 3 day park hoppers(no express added because it is included with the room for free).

Winter, can you clarify exactly what you've got and your dates because you've gotten one heck of a deal! You do realize that Royal Pacific room prices include unlimited express for nothing, right?

Well, let's see. I booked 3 nites at CB for 3 adults mid July. I only added 1 day park-to-park with express unlimited. My rooms I got through Bookit and my tickets I purchased through USF. My total is $1,141.30. I went to USF and checked 3 nites at Royal in a standard room and added 1 day park-to-park for a total of $1,692.57. I did say in my previous post that for us, this was a better deal. Plus, I think the theming for CB looks fun.

Okay, so you only got one day's express. That's not really comparing apples to apples since you'd get 4 days of unlimited express if you stayed 3 nights at Royal Pacific.

We really liked Cabana Bay. I'd definitely stay there again.
