Marathon Weekend 2016

But see that's the problem. I went to the check to see if I'm registered page and only my 5k came up. I emailed active last night asking if I'm registered and gave them my confirmation number. They said I'm registered and sent me my receipt again. I also emailed rundisney but they haven't responded yet so we will have to see.

Okay I'm sorry I read your post incorrectly. If you have a confirmation letter/email/number, and only your 5K shows-up, I'd say something with the personal info for the Half registration isn't matching up (error in name, city, state, etc). rD usually takes a day or two to reply, but if you send them the confirmation number they might be able to help fix things. I hope you get this sorted out quickly!

That's what I figured. I did email both active and rundisney. Active emailed back and said they have my registration and sent me another copy of my receipt so it seems to be ok on that end. I just hope I can clear it up on the other end.

I shouldn't say it will be my only but right now I am way more focused on crossfit competitions and obstacle course races and while I'd love to be able to train for all three things at once they aren't all easy to train for and definitely not at once so I don't see myself being a frequent marathoner just yet.
I can relate. Have you looked into crossfit endurance. I just recently bought a book called "unbreakable runner" with Brian Mackenzie . It's written by a guy that helped write a book with crossfit mobility guy kelly starrett called "ready to run" as well. Those books cover mobility, care, recovery, and in unbreakable runner has training plans in it.

@rteetz I've done a decent amount of Disney races and the "check to see if I'm registered" link almost never works for me.

Check whatever Active sent you to see if you typo'd anything. Or maybe try the day before/day after your DOB and see if that pulls it up.

We only found a typo in our emergency contact phone number and billing address. My mom registered me because I was at school and am not 18. She was billed for the half. I did just get an email back from rundisney asking for my date of birth so we will have to see.

Thanks for this I just did what you said and it turns out my birth year was off by one number! So it looks like I'm ok.

So I ordered an "I'm training for the Goofy..." shirt for me and "I'm training for the 1/2 Marathon..." shirts for my son and daughter from the Disney Store. They came today! My heart sank when I realized they had sent me a double order - six shirts in all. Quickly checking my credit cards, I saw that not only had they not double charged me, they never charged me at all. The receipts inside say "total paid 0.0 balance due 0.0". That's the kind of Disney Magic I could get used to!

That is so awesome!!
If I had known they weren't charging people, I would have ordered one.

Of course, let's all remember the important part here - now you get to wear the in training shirts twice as often!

It came by UPS today. Actually, Keels, I know you ordered it before me, because I only looked into it after seeing you post about it on this forum.

Sweet!! My UPS guy doesn't usually come until after 5 ... I hope it gets here before I head out for the evening so I can see it!!!!

Wish I had ordered a in training for the marathon shirt but I hadn't signed up yet. What's the likelihood one will show up on ebay?

@rteetz glad you figured that out. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry I only read your messages today, because the same happened to me and when I called rD they fixed it in a minute. I was going to tell you to do the same.

I was talking to a friend that ran the 2015 half at the WDWMW, and he was complaining that it was super cold before the race (remember, I'm from Brazil, so... what is cold for me may not be for you...:littleangel:), and we discussed about buying the race retreat.

Any thoughts?

I ran the Half in 2012, Full in 2013, and the Dopey in 2014 and 2015. This year the 5k and 10k were the first races where I was uncomfortably cold before the race and the Half was probably the next chilliest race I have done during WDWMW. For the 5k I overestimated my cold-hardiness, but I thought I was better prepared for the 10k and I was still freezing. The wind on both days was the big problem, as it seemed to permeate layers of clothing as if they weren't there. I did not have throwaway clothes with me, but I am sure they could have made a big difference. The half was chilly, but there was less wind and did not seem particularly bad after the previous two days. I could see how someone from a warmer climate would have found it cold, especially if they had not experienced the two days prior. For all three races the temperature felt great during the run. I believe there were a couple prior years to my participation that had notoriously cold/rainy/icy weather as well, so there seems to be a pretty decent chance that it could be cold before the race.

I can't give you any specifics on the race retreat as I have never purchased it. These races do tend to have a longer queue time than most with fairly few options to avoid the weather. The race retreat would be one way to allay any fears on that front. I believe rain would be a bigger issue than cold as far as the shelter goes, as getting wet tends to be a more difficult problem to work with for runners than being cold. That said, I think you can probably be pretty comfortable for whatever the weather throws at you pre-race with good planning; I just need to be a better planner. I am sure the race retreat is more comfortable than standing/sitting/huddling in the parking lot/highway, but I'm not sure with all of the excitement and nervous energy of the event that I would take much advantage of it.

I live in Miami so I'm also not as used to cold and Saturday was still plenty chilly,I ran Goofy Saturday and Sunday and was a spectator Friday morning for the 10K. Supposedly on Thursday for the 5K it was the coldest day so I'm glad I wasn't there.Friday was also very cold but I had warm clothes on since I wasn't running and even though it was colder than Saturday I felt colder on Saturday since I had my running clothes on which consisted of shorts and my half marathon long sleeve shirt under another dry fit shirt.I also felt more wind on Saturday but that may have been just due to what I had on where I felt the wind more.Sunday morning was cool and pleasant and by the afternoon it was even somewhat warm.I didn't have race retreat so on Saturday morning I went inside a merchandise tent for like 30 minutes along with about 300 other runners trying to get out of the cold until they started calling the runners to the start line,so obviously most runners were cold whether they came from Ohio or Brazil. You can never tell what temperatures you'll get in Florida in January,it could be 28 degrees like in 2010 where it snowed for the half marathon or it could get to 85 degrees like in 2013.Whether it was cold or hot once I got going it felt good,it obviously feels better if its cool to cold than hot but living in a warm city even when I ran the full in 2013 it felt pretty good, warm but lower humidity than what I deal with all year.
