Hotel recommendations

We are flying into San Diego and spending a few days there before heading up the coast and stopping at Disneyland and LA before moving on to San Francisco.
I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of if we should do LA or DL first and any hotel recommendations in LA for us with kids :)

Depends on a number of things:

1)When do you plan to go and how many days you're visiting DL? It may be advantageous to do DL before or after LA depending on your dates.
2)What is your budget?
3) Will you have a car? What things do you plan to see in LA?

I am thinking 2 nights at la and 2/3 in DL. Am trying to make Disneyland during the week. Are there days to avoid. We will arrive in San Diego Friday or Saturday and do 3 nights there first.

During the off season at DL you may not get fireworks during the weekdays.

Since you didn't answer any of my other questions I can't give you any specific hotel suggestions except to stay close to the places you plan to visit. People unfamiliar with the LA area often take distances for granted and don't budget enough time to travel between sights.

Just don't get on freeways in LA rush hour, anytime after 9 am and don't hit it around 4pm. You would be frustrated.

We have three young girls so not really sure what we will do in la. We want to see the Hollywood sign, see some celebrity homes and Chinese theatre. Not sure really what else to do there. Any suggestions are great!! The girls want to see beaches and swim in the ocean.

You might consider joining TripAdvisor to help on a trip like this. DISboards are great for Disney, but not so great on some of the other stuff.

LA has all kinds of things, including the American Girl store, to do. It just depends on what your interests are.
