Off Property Restaurants

Any good Mexican restaurants nearby? I looked at Rocco's Tacos menu, but interested in other options.

You may want to check out Qdoba Mexican Grill as well, it's on Apopka Vineland, not far off Disney property close to Downtown Disney. It's more of your traditional style Mexican restaurants where Racco's is more of a trendy, hang out style place.

Qdoba's gets pretty solid reviews all the way around. Obviously some bad ones here and there but that is par for the course in restaurant reviews.

Thank you. I love Qdoba so it's nice to know there is one nearby. Not sure if we are going to have time to venture out to eat, but it is nice knowing my options.

Mexican. Very good, very affordable. From the outside you may drive right by and say no way. Try it once like we did and it becomes a must do :-)

You are just off the 192 and a short drive from here you will find the Ale House, Bahama Breeze, Sweet Tomatoes, Olive Garden, Panera Bread and a few more! There is also a Publix and Super Target. :goodvibes

We had a nice meal at Bahama Breeze two weeks ago! It was our first time and we don't have one anywhere near us.

Flippers has great pizza, pasta, breadsticks and wings. There are several locations in the Orlando area and they deliver as well. We usually eat from there several times each trip.

this is a great area - the back area at Orange Lake - lets off in the Publix - where most of these are located. there a few small restuarants/coffee shops in the area that are mom and pop - but far less of these then they were.

would also do grocery shopping at Publix or Target - there is a Walmart close by - when US 192 ends - turn right - think it is the first traffic light on US 27 - right turn.

(road names - Florida is changing US192 to 530 it is also called Irolo bronson memorial hwy

us 27 has another name too -

We were staying at the Marriott Village a couple years ago and had a meal at Bahama Breeze and really liked it. This past December, although we didn't stay at the Marriott Village, we dined at Bahama Breeze on our arrival day, and had another good meal. I suspect that we will stop at Bahama Breeze on future trips when staying off property.

I can't believe so many people rattled off places with no idea where the OP was staying.....

You will get mostly chains in the area, but some decent ones like LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Texas Roadhouse, Bonefish Grill, Miller's Ale House, Flippers Pizzeria, Joe's Crab Shack, Sweet Tomatoes and Carrabba's Italian Grill. Good fast food too with Chick Fil-A, Dunkin' Donuts, Subway and Shula's Burgers. Publix also has a good deli for those days you just want something to take back to the condo.

Oh.... and not much close for Mexican. There is a Chuy's, a Tex Mex chain, but it is highly Americanized.

My family likes Chuy's. Not fancy. But during (I believe) 5-7 M-F they have a free nacho "car"- chips, taco meat, queso, salsa, etc. I love their chicken tortilla soup.

Tex Mex is an Americanized version of Mexican food, just as most would expect. We are okay with Chuy's, but I am going to try El Tenampa next time around.

Hey guys .....keep the reviews coming! I go to Disney often but have tried most of the Disney restaurants so it is nice to hear some new ideas.

Thank you for the suggestions. We are staying at Holiday Inn - Orange Lake
You are across the street from a Super Target shopping center that has Sweet Tomatoes and Flipper's Pizza. Within a short drive, there's an Olive Garden and a Chuy's. There are tons of other chains as well. You will not have trouble finding good food to eat!

Since this is the de facto "food" thread, I'd like to ask if there is a good place to get crab that isn't Joe's Crab Shack. We tried that last time in the area and my wife and MiL both said it was mediocre (I don't eat crab or lobster). Was hoping there was something similar to Rustic Inn in Fort Lauderdale up in the area.

DrivenByDisney - have you tried Wildside BBQ on Rt. 192? How does that line up with Bubbalou's Bodacious Barbecue? I have tried a couple of BBQ places around Disney, I like Wildside the best, but have never heard of Bubbalou's.
Gina-Gina-Bo-Bina - Are you talking about the Margaritaville at CityWalk in Universal? Or is there another one near Disney?
Here is a couple to stay away from: Colorado Beef House on 192, Paradiso 37 in Downtown Disney, and Golden Corral located anywhere.
I liked going to Celebration (the town Disney built) and eating at the Market Street Cafe. It is a 50's style diner in the heart of Celebration, eating with the locals, it was great.
When I'm on vacation, I don't want to eat all the same chains that I have back home. I want new experiences. So, I would encourage you to experiment a little. Have fun!

I did Giordano's pizza. It is a deep dish Chicago style pizza. And by deep dish? I mean stuffed deep dish pie. A slice of this is a meal. It might have been two inches thick. While my wife and I loved it? The kids hated it. It was fairly expensive, as pizza goes, so I was disappointed. But my kids can tend to be a little picky. While we were there, they had balloon artists who will make anything (in exchange for a tip - remember to tip them well). If the kids weren't with us? I would go back.

We tried it too. Turns out we're not fans of deep dish pizza, but at least now we know!
