New Universal Water Theme Park Announcement - Volcano Bay (2017)

I will never shun Disney completely, but new additions like this make it increasingly easier to focus more of the trip toward the "Dark Side." They are banging out a major new attraction every year and now to add a new gate?!?!?! What?!?! That is insane. Granted, yes it is only a water park, but its still a massive undertaking and major new addition to the USO resort.

My question is this......Will USO now do away with Wet N' Wild?

I've heard this rumor being thrown around for a while so I'll keep spreading it and luckily with Universal and rumors the good thing is that they tend to come reality, basically the rumor is Wet n Wild closing to make room for a third theme park, they're probably planning one at this moment and since there's no more room in their current site,Volcano Bay barely fits so they're going to have to go somewhere else. They also used to lease the Wet n Wild site and one day all of a sudden they decide to buy it,I've heard a monorail shuttling people between sites being built. All I know the way they're going you have to believe everything you hear as all these rumors are getting built,I remember hearing about the Potter expansion with the Hogwarts express train running between parks about 2 years before it was announced, the same for the waterpark so you know it has to be coming.

33 acres? our property is 33 acres.. standing in the center I can easily see all 4 sides. does nto seem that big. will be curious to see it, to feel what "can" fit on my property......... (maybe a side project for hubby... lol)

nice addition, but vague at best as to details. I'm an admitted water park snob. Would like to be wow'd.

the rendering appears to be best source of info at this point, with representation of what appears to be a rather smallish wave pool & water slide

anybody know how large of a parcel it is to work their magic?

There is someone surfing in the wave pool - so my guess is it will be like Typhoon Lagoon's wave pool - which is pretty awesome.

indeed it is! can't wait to see what they do with the park. Would be nice if they'd offer complimentary transport from the various onsite hotels.

I wonder if it will be included in a park-to-park admission or if it will be a separate ticket.

I thought this too. I hope it's a separate ticket. As an ap holder for many years, I don't want to pay more for a park we will probably never use. We rarely go to water parks.

My guess is a separate tickets, or add on park, and AP prices for water park included and not included.

Since the plot is on the smaller side (same size as Blizzard Beach if you exclude the parking lot), I bet that there is no parking there at all but you have to park at the main parking garage and take transportation over from there or from your hotel. Maybe they make a huge parking structure at the new Sapphire Bay Resort that can be used for it. I'm not sure how many cars the Cabana Bay parking structure holds.

If you scan over in the above map you can see Wet 'n Wild and its comparable size and parking lot.

thanks for the link. They will have to park the offsite guests/locals with cars somewhere. Don't think people will be agreeable to paying to park to visit a waterpark when the others in area offer it free.

Only the Disney ones have free parking,Aquatica and Wet n Wild have parking fees.

I'm sure they'll have AP options including or excluding the water park,I would definitely add it on to my AP but don't charge me something ridiculous to include it.If I were local I would use it frequently but being 4 hours away it might be 2-3 times a year max,so I can see myself adding it for $60-$70 on top of my pass, anymore and I would only pay when I go.Like my pass at Sea World/Busch Gardens,I have the platinum pass that includes all 3 Sea World parks, both Busch parks, the water parks in Tampa and Virginia and Sesame place but when they opened Aquatica they wanted me to upgrade my pass to include it and I just wasn't going to do that as I've been paying $12/mo for that pass since 2002 as they don't raise your payment as long as you're paying,so I wasn't going to go from paying $12/mo to like $22-$25/mo to have Aquatica so now I just buy my ticket for Aquatica inside Sea World where they sell it for like half price and if I don't want to pay the parking at Aquatica Sea World has a shuttle over.I've been paying that pass too long and the deal is too good to mess with it,I basically say they have me for life at $12/mo for all those parks.

OK, now go stand in one corner and swim to the other corner and let us know how big it seems. :D

They could put in a underground parking garage and put (some or all) of the waterpark on top.

I can't wait! I know I am biased in Universal over Disney, but I think Universal just might blow my mind with this water park.

Typhoon Lagoon is 61 acres, Blizzard Beach is 66 acres (those include the parking lots) and Wet 'n Wild is 25 acres. So Volcano Bay won't be as large but definitely will be big enough.

SO EXCITED. LOVE water parks, so this will bring us back to Universal/IOA in '17..By then, it will be about 8 years, so we will be in for a TREAT! CANNOT WAIT!:Pinkbounc:cheer2:
