Hello!
We are coming out to DL spring break 2016. I have booked 2 places and there is a HUGE price difference and I would love to hear some thoughts. One is the Fairfield inn with park view themed room, and the other is the Camelot. It will be myself DH and DS(almost 3 years old then). I know DS doesn't care and I don't think DH does either. I just don't know if the Fairfield is really worth it. I have listened to Tom's reviews of lots of hotels but was hoping to hear about the Camelot more if possible. Thanks!!

The two places are right next to each other. The Camelot is a normal motel, with a cool little pool up on the 3rd floor. The Fairfield is bigger, and probably has a little more to offer. Personally, if it were me, I would stay at the lesser expensive, Camelot would be fine by me, and spend the money on souvenirs and nice dining choices.

We used to stay at the Camelot and we had nice stays there. It wasn't fancy but it was clean and comfortable.

If loyalty points don't matter, then I would choose the Camelot. But, Marriott reward points add up and can come in handy for redeeming free nights in the future.

The FFI main offering is good beds in quiet rooms, nice sheets, really close to DLR. You can see the fireworks from almost any outside walkway (since they are all outside walkways). I would not upgrade to the themed room. I have stayed several times but not recently, but will be there on June 22. Tom's review seemed fair and accurate. The food is essentially the Pizza Hut with breakfast offerings and the gift shop in the lobby.

As my normal mode is get up, eat my own breakfast food, go to the park for opening and then return at park close, it works great as I really prefer quiet rooms (concrete block walls) and nice sheets in rooms that do NOT smell. Exterior halls always seem to have excited kids running in them but at least half the sound goes out to the air and not trapped in a hallway. The pool is nice and every time I have been in it, it smells clean and is clear.
I am VERY picky about the cleanliness of the pool and appearance and SMELL of the rooms, this hotel does great at this.

I traveled as part of job for years, I became very picky and vocal if something is not right in my room and Marriott properties always fix any issues.

Fairfield is nice and my kids enjoy it. I would try to ditch the themed room though. The fireworks view is worth it but the themed rooms do theming very cheaply with decals you can buy at wal mart.

The theme rooms are not nesessarily resort view rooms so be aware of that. As the previous poster said the "Themeing" of the rooms are rather cheaply done. The time we stayed there we had a theme room with resort view. You can see the fireworks quite well from there but ultimately viewing the fireworks in the park is going to be the way to go.

In therory it is the same as having a DCA view in PP. Sure you can see WOC but it is always best to see it in person. I am glad that we didn't pay extra for a DCA view during our trip in April for that exact reason. We saw WOC in DCA one night (which was nice) and happened to be back in the hotel one night while WOC was on. I stood in the hall and watch for about 10 mins but didn't watch it all.

So IMO paying extra for either themeing or resort view in Fairfield isn't really all that worth it. Just my 2 cents though.
