Renting cart from offsite vendor

we are heading to a canon at Fort wilderness for ten days this August and we have rented a cart from off site vendor. We won't have a car. How or where do we pick up the cart. I know it is off site but where? Is it a hassle?

Very confusing but the savings are too good to pass up.

Thanks for your help.

You'll have to work with the vendor. I believe you will have to drive it into the Fort on your own. I'm sure they have a system.

I was told this year by an off site vendor that the rule is they must not exchange within 1 mile of Disney property. This has actually changed since last year causing my new exchange point to be different than it was when I rented last November.

This will be something you will need to work out with your vendor.

How in the world can Disney control what happens even 10 feet off their property?

I rented from Disney. Savings or not, I decided it wasn't worth the extra 30-60 minutes in each direction to save the money.

May I ask how much you paid? We are going down for 16 nights in 2016 but 2 families coming down for 10 nights. Was thinking of splitting it 3ways even for 4-5 nights. We don't need it but the kids will love it and coming from CT (with a kid in school) idk if we will do FW again for awhile

From Disney I think I paid $63 a day for a 4 seater. With a larger group you would need a 6 seater and I'm not sure how much that costs.

Off site is usually a pretty substantial savings - to the tune of $150-$200 less for a week. But with the crackdown and having to go off-site, tow the cart to my site, or at least through the gates, and then having to bring the trailer back off site, and doing the reverse when returning, we decided our vacation time was worth more than the money. Of course, for some the decision is different.

Totally agree with you, but maybe Disney has told the rental place to go 1 mile off or they will make it even tougher on allowing outside rentals? So therefore they have no choice but to abide by the rules.

I would think for them to do this, they would have to ban ALL outside carts, otherwise how would they know if it wasn't privately owned. (Unless of course it's "Branded" with business logos and such).

I cannot help to wonder, however, why Disney might be giving the outside vendors a hard time. The one year we went and were looking to get a cart, there was only one available to us for 3 days (which the DW took). Otherwise, it was pretty solid on being already spoken for.

They claim it is because there were too many carts driving around FW. Cart parking was getting difficult. I can attest to that. There were times I couldn't get a spot even during slower times. There were a lot of non-Disney carts in the lot. Granted, they could have belonged to people in RVs, but the last time I was there in January, I didn't have a problem getting a spot and I know FW was full.

I'm paying half of what disney wants per day for their cart rental. I wasn't going to rent this trip and just bring our bikes instead, but my youngest is to small for her own bike and too big for the bike seat.

I was also told the crackdown had more to do with traffic than lost dollars. Jury is still out on that one for me.
