WDW Pro thinking about DisneyLAND

This post read my mind! I'm a WDW AP holder, an easywdw reader, and will be visiting DL for the first time in April 2016. I'm so clueless and have been reading hotel reviews non stop trying to figure out where to stay. Candy Cane Inn sounds like the place to be, but I'm so used to staying 'on property' at WDW. I have to learn to think differently when planning this trip, but I can't wait to see all of the attractions that we don't have at WDW, like Cars Land and I think I saw an Alice in Wonderland ride? I'll definitely be following all of the great tips on this thread.
Storybook Canal boats, Casey Jr. Train, Pinocchio , Mr Toad's Wild Ride, Matterhorn, Roger Rabbit, Indiana Jones, Submarine ride are all DL rides that aren't at WDW. Also, I think the Autopia at DL is a lot of fun, there are a lot of different things to see as you drive around.

I am a huge Touringplans fan at WDW. We are planning our first DLR trip also and the site/resource I found most helpful was Ridemax. They had a deal where you could get a subscription to the site plus a PDF of a short book they just published. It isn't nearly the depth of info as the Unofficial guide, but I found the strategy information in it very helpful.

I think the hardest thing for WDW fans to grasp is the idea that no planning is needed when you visit DLR. If you want to eat at Blue Bayou make an ADR 2 weeks ahead of time, but that's about all the planning required. It is a place where you can still be spontaneous.

Thanks! I rode Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at WDW as a child before they got rid of it. I think I'll cry when I see it again! After reading everyone mention Blue Bayou in their posts, I'll have to check out the menu there also.

DLR is a no-stress trip. ALL this talk of RideMax and tour planning, ADR reservations on the morning of the reservation window.. it's not REQUIRED at DLR. If you choose, you can but otherwise.... Get a room, buy some tix, have fun.
