Oh Florida! An East Meets West Girl's TR: 8/9 p56 & 8/17 p57

I think you got great shots actually!

Thanks! :goodvibes

But this one is definitely the best of them all.

I really like that one, too! Probably my fav as well!

Oh love these. I'll take three of them please!

They are so pretty, aren't they?

Absolutely gorgeous. Gah, I can't even imagine all the work the gardeners do. I think i'd need a few manicures to get all the dirt and soil out!:rotfl2:

I don't think I could ever do that type of work. Not only is it manual labor, but it requires such talent. It really takes a special person to do all that.

DH would totally die over this photo op! He loves the Goofy Sports cartoon so this would be perfect for him.

That was a great photo-op. I know when my boys were younger I would have been all over that photo-op. It's perfect for kids (old and young) that love Goofy and soccer.

Same with my DH!! He much prefers wearing those golf polos because they're airy and light and will only wear Disney shirts when I force him.

Same with Denny. And then when he does pick out a T its always so ugly. :rotfl2:

My DB, who has his own landscaping company would love this!

That's why I thought Denny would love it. He loves working outside and gardening, but nope. I still can't figure that one out. :sad2:

I know, right????

Well hellooo, Federico.:wave2:

How cute is he????? :goodvibes

Her dress! :faint:

It's pretty crazy, isn't it? I mean its beautiful if you are into that style. It's a little much for my taste.

These are my fav that you got of them! Good work Paparazzo:thumbsup2

Thanks! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

Phew. How did you know where my mind was :rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Such a cute Jack! Where did she get it! And the drunken dole whip looks pretty fantastic!

I don't know, but it is super cute. I want one! ::yes::

That's accurate :thumbsup2

He is odd. I wonder if he's back this year. I'm thinking not!

Such a lovely shot!

I love that view. It's so peaceful!

Don't get me wrong! I would love to go out to Naples one night and just have a pizza, Fran just doesn't really get into it so it makes me sad. Sometime on one of my DISmeets, I'll have to find someone who wants to go there. They have the same pizza as Via Napoli.

Good to know. That is totally going on my list when I visit DL. 2016 is going to be the year. I'm thinking September, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

I really love that show too. She just never wants to stick around for it. On our canceled trip, she was going to leave after dinner, and Jim and I were going to go see the show.

It's a lovely show. It took me awhile to really "get it", but now its a favorite. I just wish it was a bit longer.

That's impressive! But then again it's you and you are awesome!

That was quite the substantial run for how hot it was the morning. I know I couldn't have done it.

Sounds like a good move!

I would have totally done the same thing. In fact, I did once....in my neighbors pool. It was one of those East coast high humidity heat waves and I went for a 3 mile run in the morning before work. Even at 5:30 in the morning it was like running in a sauna, so I jumped the fence and right in my neighbor's pool. There's no way they could miss that splash, but they never said a word. :rotfl2:

Been there done that.

::yes::

I had the one with Myers since I don't like Coconut and it was very good!

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

The F&G offerings look really good. I guess it will be another year before I get back there to try them. :sad2:

They are always so yummy. I'll miss it again next year since I'm going in February. *sigh*

Hi Mary Ellen I am desperately trying to catch up !!! I will be in Disney in about 3 weeks !!!:goodvibes:cool1::jumping3::jumping2:Meet with P &P tomorrow for all the details !! I have had so much Laptop trouble , and it had to be completely restarted, so I lost my pix that I had downloaded onto it , or at least I can't find them :rotfl2:

Hey Rosie! Good to hear from you! Sorry its taken me so long to respond. I've been a bit of a slacker and I can't even blame my computer. So sorry to hear about your pix. I hope you are able to locate them. I have had a hard drive crash and lost a bunch of pix, so I know what a bummer that is. BOO!

Playing catch up again! Love the bride paparazzi shots! The food looks amazing.

Jill in CO

Hey Jill - I know you have been pretty darn busy lately.

So glad you like my paparazzi photo shot. I had some fun with that! :rotfl2:

And that dinner was delish:thumbsup2

Hello ladies ! I haven't been on the boards in forever. Yet here I am, in desperate need of a vacation (yet I don't have one planned), and the next best thing is to read about someone else's vacation to my favorite place. Cynthia, since I love your TR's so much, you are the first person I searched for and I found this combined TR. How fun!

:welcome: Thanks for joining in on our joint TR! I know what you mean - it's always so fun to read about other people's Disney trips. I love it!

I haven't even read past the first page yet but wanted to say hello and that I'll be reading to get caught up soon.

:thumbsup2:cheer2::thumbsup2

Pretty sure I figured out your sushi, all of which look incredibly delicious. In the background of #1 is the California Roll, the foreground of #1 and #2 are the Fantasy Roll, and #3 is the Ninja Crunch.

:welcome: Thanks for the interpretation. I am TERRIBLE at sushi names. I really can't tell one type from another all that well, but it doesn't matter because I love them all!!!! ::yes::

I've been away from the DIS for a while, but I'm glad I found this TR, it looks like you had a great time.

Well I know we are both thrilled that you decided to stop by our TR. We really did have a great time. Hard to believe our trip was over a year ago.

Awww, you got to meet Kat! How absolutely fun is that!!?? Loved all your drink choices especially the Drunken Dole Whip! Wowza!! :)

It was really fun to meet Kat! I'm so glad we had that opportunity. She was as lovely in person as she was on the boards (back in the day).

The flowers in Norway are always so pretty! Nice shots there! Your tilapia looks suspiciously like a scallop with spaghetti squash?? Hmmmm....

Thanks from both of us, since I know we both took pictures there. They do such a fabulous job with the blowers. It's all amazing!

Trying to keep my head above DISWaters... But it was great to read your update on this test eve.
:)

Test eve? I know I am responding super late, but I hope you did fabulous on your test. I am sure you must be done...or almost done by now. Keep up the fabulous work.

And FWIW - I'm pretty far behind on the DIS too!

Catching back up.. Looks like a wonderful meet!

Hey Jen - good to see you!

We did have a great meet! It was a ton of fun! :thumbsup2

Lovely morning run pictures. I'm sure if there wasn't all that construction at DTD it'd have been even nicer.
Can't blame you for jumping right into the pool after your run. That's the perk of being near one. Easy and fun way to cool off on a hot day.

She had to be dying from the heat that day. I hate running when its super hot and I am SURE I would have jumped right in the pool, too!

The downpour that day at Epcot. Bleck. I am pretty sure that picture of the IG features myself and Alex in the background. We were the only people too chicken to run to the Beach Club.
I think you had a poncho on, too. But I can't remember.

I should look again and see if I spot you. I know that we ran into each at that exact spot, so it makes sense. Cynthia's picture show that it is really POURING! Crazy!

I still can't believe nobody ordered ice cream at Beaches and Cream! Although, the adult Dole Whip is just as good. If not better in certain situations.

:rotfl2: Good point! Yes - hard to believe that we did not order ice cream, but at least its still on my bucket list. I think they need a take out ice cream window! :lmao:

In fact, all your outdoor kitchen eateries look delicious.

They had some really nice offerings. It's not on the same scale as F&W, but its certainly perfect for F&G. I like the kiosks. It add a lot.

So for kicks I went and looked to see exactly what my route was. You can tell I totally lost my momentum after that long stop with the phone calls. It would appear I walked part of the way back as I definitely stopped RK before making it all the way. The heat really cranked up during the run, which is I guess what I get for starting so late in the morning. It's funny though, looking at this does make me want to maybe log other travel run in RK. I've actually stopped using it as more than a log, I take the info from my watch and just log it in as before, RK would be so off I'd have to go back in an manually adjust it to match the watch otherwise it made me look a lot faster than I was. Still, kind of fun to go back and look!
What does RK stand for? This looks like a cool app.

:rotfl2:
That is hilarious. It must have felt pretty good, too. I've sat in a cold bathtub after running in order to cool down before work. But a pool would be a lot nicer. ;)

I wanted to pop in and let you two ladies know that I've been reading along and am all caught up again. Of course, with our two week trip to Disney starting Friday, I'll fall behind again. UGH!

Yay for getting caught up and an even beigger YAY for being on your trip right now! :cheer2: I have no doubt that you are having a fabulous time!!!!!:thumbsup2

Ok I got kind of far behind but I think I'm caught up now? I just read the last 2 updates that were posted, so I'll try to comment on those but I can't remember anything I wanted to say! I'm glad my trip is over because now I can get back to the DIS and stop being so far behind on TR's! :rotfl:

Welcome back Jen! I am the one who is far behind on the DIS right now. I am so looking forward to reading all about your latest trip!
Umm...:wave2:
I do like those butterfly topiaries, but keep the real ones far away from me! :rotfl2:

Too funny! I know there are people who are afraid of birds, but butterflies.....OK, maybe I have heard about that before. Me - I am more afraid of the creepy, crawly things! :faint:

Yum, Via Napoli, I haven't been there in forever! I tried to get an ADR there for my May trip, but I could never find a time that worked for me! I'll definitely have to go next time!

Wow - bummer! I love that place and can't wait to eat there again in August! It's so super yummy. Love the pizza!!!!!

Cynthia, I can't believe you can run in the morning! I'm so jealous of people who can go for walks/runs in the morning at Disney and then walk around the parks all day! How are your feet not killing you??? I get these stupid blisters on my pinky toes and I'm ruined for the week...from blisters!

Ouch - that's sounds painful! I had some toe problems when I was training for the PHM, but for short runs I am OK. It's more the added fatigue of running and then walking in the parks that does me in. :rotfl:

Aww, you met up with Kat, she's awesome! Wish she would come back to the DIS and write some more TR's!

Meeting Kat was awesome. Yes - I wish she would come back to the DIS too! sometimes I think there are more original DISers that have left then are still here.

Of course how we snagged these I've no idea. Maybe we went in just to see what standby looked like and pixie dust happened????

Who cares, you scored FP's!:woohoo: Did anyone hand you a magic Tomorrowland pin too?

The unfortunate part was that soccer jerseys had replaced the fabulous vintage WS tees in the merch area by the African Outpost. Which really bummed me out as my boys were outgrowing their beloved Germany Pavillion tees.

Unreal how fast they're growing up. What did you get, about a year out of those t-shirts?

My poor kids and husband have yet to make it here. It's been on the agenda but has gotten cancelled for different reasons each time.

Their loss! Love me some Via Napoli.

Watch the show and let the camera catch the candid moment instead of focusing on fake kisses at the proper angle for that perfect kodak moment.

I agree with that. If you spend all your time trying to arrange the perfect kodak moment you end up missing the actual moment.

Is the end of my time on the DIS coming soon????

:scared1:

You can’t pass this fountain without taking a pic! Go ahead and try it - I bet you can’t!

I'm not taking that bet.

But first, I wanted to check this out.

Cool map inside!:thumbsup2

I should have called this TR “How Many Pictures Can One Person Take of the Mine Train”. It appears that I was slightly obsessed!

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Doesn't that water look gloriously blue?

::yes:: Looks like a nice place to hang out!

I haven't yet eaten at Via Napoli but reallllly want to! ::yes::

I totally understand getting overwhelmed sometimes by the Dis. When I got back from my trip over the weekend I logged on and thought "how will I ever catch up?! I can't do this!" Slowly but surely, though, I'm getting there. I did promise myself that I wouldn't start my TR until I was officially "caught up". I hope life calms down a little for you!

Yum - the waffle sammie looks heavenly! I missed out on that last week. :sad2:

I always adore your pictures... something about your style just makes me really feel like I'm there touring with you. So thank you for that! :goodvibes

MEK:

Dismeets are fun.
Looks like fun at MK.

They are the best, aren't they? and I always have a great time at the MK. No surprise there!

I agree about skipping the queue at HM.

At first it was cute, but the novelty wears off real quick, if you know what I mean!

Your photos came out better than mine in there.

That's hard to believe because your dark shots are always excellent!

I am fascinated by the fake snow too. LOL.

It's soooooo cool. How do they do THAT????

I am not a fan of massages, don’t like people rubbing their hands all over me.

See - me too! I really just have to get used to it gradually cause I have never been the "touchy feely" type.

I hope you choose Turf Club, love that place.
Too bad you didn’t eat there..

It's still on the bucket list. I have heard nothing but good about it and I really do like the setting, so I will be back!

I agree, the sushi there is really good.

SOOOOOOOO good! Really didn't expect to find that!

Paradiso is so good.

Another bucket list restaurant. Good to know!

1am swim sounds like fun.

Cynthia reminded me that it was the hot tub only. Still, super relaxing!

Cynthia:
LOL, you went into the mens locker room.

Apparently we both did, but I obviously blocked it out! :rotfl2:

MEK:
YUM! Now I want a “No Way Jose” from B&C.

Me too and its not even 10am! :faint:

Nice pics around Epcot.

Thanks!

I think the Nemo pics came out good. I can never get any.

That is a tough place to get pix because of all the movement. I just want to yell - "Stop for a moment and let me get my picture!" :rotfl:

I would hate to see the amount of pics you took of someone you knew getting married. LOL.

If I knew someone in a Disney wedding I would TOTALLY go crazy. Watch out! :hyper:

Cynthia:
Great pics of your run and your time at Epcot.
I am all caught up again.

I admire her for that sizeable run on such a hot day! She did great!

It was a treat! I had never tried that route before and with the construction we weren't sure if you could still get all the way to DTD running so it was a bit of an adventure to figure out, esp as I don't really know SSR well at all. Kat rocks!

Well, it looks like a great route. I have always said I wanted to stay at SSR during the cooler weather so I can really take advantage of all the running routes there. It's really one of the BEST resorts for runing IMHO.

I don't remember that part.

I didn't wither until I saw the picture and then I remembered that I was holding the hood so tight that I ripped the seam. Nice!

Those really work if you stick to them. I should and have made a few half hearted attempts to do it again over the past 8 months but have not stuck to it. When I did, it really really worked. But it's work.

It worked well for the first 5 or 6 pounds and I'm still doing it, but seemed to be stalled as far as further weight loss. The good thing is everything fits better and I'm going to keep at it to make me accountable!

I can't imagine we did standby, for some reason I feel like someone gave us FP's?????

Well, I guess the mystery is answered in your next update, which I am about to read!

that's because you were smart and ran the day before, the non 900 degree morning.

I actually did run, but I only ran to the health club at SSR which is just shy of a mile. Then I did 20 minutes of elipitical and ran back. I think I left before you did.

The Myers one was prettier! I love Coconut rum so it was good but I think we both had whip envy seeing Kat's.

Way prettier!

and then, look! Of course how we snagged these I've no idea. Maybe we went in just to see what standby looked like and pixie dust happened???

Oops - I deleted the paper fast pass. Boo! So we DID get a FP. I wonder who gave it to us? I know we got one the time we were there with Pat, but I totally don't remember this happy occasion of pixie dust. Cool!

But then we found a neat little glass tile stand and I found some art for my powder room!

IMG_1143.jpg

Love this and I love mine!

I'll be back with other replies later

Well, it looks like a great route. I have always said I wanted to stay at SSR during the cooler weather so I can really take advantage of all the running routes there. It's really one of the BEST resorts for runing IMHO.

Yes it is. Although I loved the path between FW and WL!

It worked well for the first 5 or 6 pounds and I'm still doing it, but seemed to be stalled as far as further weight loss. The good thing is everything fits better and I'm going to keep at it to make me accountable!

Yeah, stalling is part of the process, you have to stick with it but it's frustrating when that happens

I actually did run, but I only ran to the health club at SSR which is just shy of a mile. Then I did 20 minutes of elipitical and ran back. I think I left before you did.

Well you didn't stop in the bathroom and deal with kid drama. LOL! That allowed the temps to keep rising

OK - now that I look at this closer I am curious - what are they little gold dotted pathways. It looks almost like you can make a complete circle back to OKW. Am I hallucinating?

I believe that you can. I have read that there is a path and believe those are sidewalks. However there was a lot of confusion as to whether the path was open during all the construction and I wasn't sure how to get there. What I didn't want was to head that way, get blocked and have to turn around and run farther back. It wasn't the distance, it was the heat and humidity!

Oops - I deleted the paper fast pass. Boo! So we DID get a FP. I wonder who gave it to us? I know we got one the time we were there with Pat, but I totally don't remember this happy occasion of pixie dust. Cool!

Honestly I don't remember either! But it was happy and a bonus prize for sure

Love this and I love mine!

I figured I'd let you update on that aspect :)

I also enjoyed THIS!

IMG_1145.jpg

Oh YUMMMMMMMM! That looks so good! I want that right NOW!

She can say otherwise but I'm pretty sure she enjoyed her birthday serenade by our adorable CM.

IMG_1149.jpg

Oh I totally enjoyed it! Just like last time! What's not to like about a cute, hot Italian serenading you with Happy Birthday! ::yes::

What I do know is this. We didn't eat that whole pizza, we ended up taking maybe half of it back.

Whaaaaaaaaat? Were we feeling sick???? :rotfl: :faint:

My pictures of the happy couple didn't turn out so well. For me I can't say I found them "shiny", as Mary Ellen describes it. For me, the dress was a bit much and well, the whole thing seemed so posed it was more plasticy to me, than shiny. Which I realize sounds horribly mean and I am sure they are lovely people. Sometimes you get that vibe though when you can tell people think they are "all that" and to me, that's unattractive. I dunno. Mabye I am old and jaded but it's your wedding night, you are watching fireworks. Watch the show and let the camera catch the candid moment instead of focusing on fake kisses at the proper angle for that perfect kodak moment. Sorry. It may have been that for whatever reason the bride reminded me of Jessica Simpson who has always annoyed me to no end. LOL!

IMG_1178.jpg

See - shiny is my adjective for plastic. It's sort of the same thing, only nicer. I totally agree with you on the firework watching. There was a lot of posing going on. Still, I found the whole thing fascinating. I was not a total fan of the dress, but I did think she had some pretty good hair extensions.

and with that, it was bedtime! What a fun day!!!!!!!!!!

A VERY fun day!!!! :thumbsup2

Mary Ellen- sounds like you have some fun summer travel plans. Williamsburg and Jamestown sound really interesting. I love Jen's trip report from there.

I LOVE Williamsburg. I have been there a bunch of times, but none of my trips have been a week like Jen. I usually stay three or four nights. Sometimes it just a 2 nighter. I try to do something new every time I go - just like at Disney.

I'm almost afraid to ask- when in August will you be in Orlando? We are getting another use of our Universal APs and then I am headed to the Beach Club for a couple of days to meet with my pals.

I'm almost afraid to answer, because if I find out we are just missing each other by a day or two I am NOT going to be happy. OK - here it is - Are you ready?

We arrive in the evening on the 15th and right now are staying of sight and then checking into the BWV on the 16th. We leave on the 22nd.

I am caught up to Bowling Alley Sushi.

:thumbsup2

What an amazing day!!!

It really was. That was such a great day and pretty cool because we did such a variety of things.

Sushi looks fantastic!

It was SO good!

Cheers! :drinking1

That's when we have gone the most!

Really? I am a bit of a contrarian when it comes to summer vacation. Since most people take vacation in July I almost NEVER do. I like being at home when there are less people around and less people traveling to work during the week.

I know where you are eating, but not who you are meeting. But I'm going to guess Caitlin/Dawn/Dale because that is always a possibility!

;)

You are very close, but you have to wait a little longer for that meet! ::yes::

Great additions to the rest of the day, Cynthia. The topiaries pictures are great. I'm sorry Jeff and the boys have not yet tried Via Napoli. I FINALLY tried it earlier this month but won't reveal what I thought until I get to that day on my TR.

OK - I hope you liked it. It's one of my favs. And I'm surprised Jeff and the boys haven't eaten there yet, too!

You hit it on the head...Jessica Simpson. That is exactly who she reminds me from the pictures. And she annoys me too.

You guys are too funny. She actually reminds me of a blonde Kardashian. I think Jessica Simpson has a more natural look then she does.

I love seeing your perspective of the day, Cynthia. What a fun day it seems.

We had so much that day. Wait - we had fun everyday that we were there! ::yes::

Love the topiaries and the food from Via Napoli!

Those topiaries were pretty amazing.

And Via - :love::love::love:

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
You take such great photos and your story telling is so exciting we need you here.

Awwwww - thanks Karin! Don't worry - I'm not ready to quit the DIS yet, but there are times when it gets a bit cumbersome and I feel like there are so many funny people that have left. It's kind of sad!

Been there, done that! ;)

I know we have all been there from time to time. Life can just get in the way some times!

Love the update - I admire you for being able to run in the mornings. I wish I could, but I am far too lazy for that. :faint:

It's something you start our forcing yourself to do and then it gets a lot easier. But it takes awhile. It's an effort some time!

Seems like a nice breakfast after all. Great you found it. And then to be in time for the DISmeet and being a paparazzi with this cute family and Alice. Love the photos from the mine train and the ones from the Ariel ride. So cool.

That waffle was SO yummy! I know I went right back there in October and I'll be eating there in August, no doubt.

I'm glad we were able to meet with LL and her family. She was one of the first DISers who TRs I got addicted to and she inspired me to take better pictures.

Glad you like the pics. They are two of my favorite places to photograph.

Cynthia- A paper FP! Those are so rare to see nowadays. Glad you guys were able to get it so that it allowed you to ride both TT and Soarin'. It's rough having to choose between the two sometimes.

What's even crazier about that paper FP is that neither one of us can remember where we got it. What the heck? :rotfl2::confused3 I'm not going to dwell on it too much. I am just happy we got to use it!

(I'm going to be in trouble when I don't get Rider Swaps anymore.)

I have never used to Rider Swap. I am sure that must be a nice feature. But the trade off is you will finally get to ride as a family. :thumbsup2

A canvas of a topiary...that's different. I guess if you REALLY love the Flower and Garden Festival.

::yes::

Excellent appetizer choice at Via Napoli. Tomato and mozzarella are my favorite flavor combos. I could eat that dish every day.

Me too! That looks SOOOOOO yummy right now!

Mary Ellen- We all have those times when DISing is just not on the agenda. If I ever feel like I'm getting on more from an obligation than enjoyment, I tend to skip it. But that's just me. Although, you did pass me again in Candy Crush, so if you do want to forgo some playing time, I won't complain. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2: I'm sure I will not be in the lead very long, so no worries there. There are some crazy, dumb levels in this series. I finally beat one of them but now I am on another stupid one. :faint:

It's good to hear you found a delicious breakfast in MK! I've heard the waffle concotions at Sleepy Hollow are really good. And I like the sound of yours.

It was SOOOOOO good. Totally worth a try. It's huge and super tasty.

Oh man, your pool pictures look so relaxing. I was just in a pool yesterday, but seeing that beautiful blue water makes me want to go in one again today.

That water really does look so inviting. It's really warm here right now, but all the pools are still freezing. That's no fun!

Lots of great pictures of MK. The substitute breakfast looks tasty.

I hope you'll still check in on the Dis. I think it's just that everyone is busy right now that it makes it hard to keep to a routine and get some chill-ax time. I keep thinking that the year is going to be different....but it only just seems to get more and more complex and hectic.

Ahh, a paper FP! How I miss those! And I always assumed, well, whenever I visit Disneyland, I'll get to see paper FP's again, but I hear they're testing FP+ there this summer so I guess whenever I go to Disneyland, I'll get stuck with FP+ there too!

Mary Ellen, you can't leave the DIS, it's not allowed. Sorry. :snooty:

(Just kidding, I took a little absence from it, as you know, and honestly, it helps. I got so overwhelmed by it, and I focused so much on each trip on getting the perfect picture and taking the perfect notes for trip reports that I was just like forget it, and stopped for a while! Now I'm back and writing another TR, but I don't put that pressure on myself that I used to, and it's so much better and easier!)

Aww, you met up with LL, another DIS'er who I wish would come back and write more TR's!

I want to try one of those waffle sandwiches from Sleepy Hollow, but I am never hungry enough! I always have breakfast somewhere else so I end up having to skip them! Someday!

I love your pictures of the Little Mermaid ride, so cute!

That pool looks amazing, I really like the look of that resort, it looks like such a nice place to just relax!

Hooray - Caught up for now. Great couple of updates, I was back with the bad cab ride after closing down DTD.:scared1:

A little rain - a few DIS meets and some pool time and a couple of great meals. Yup that sums it up. :rotfl:

I love the fruit nutella waffle. I could eat half of that for breakfast. a whole one would be meals for the day.
