Uber still an option?

I think that some Uber drivers are dropping off or picking up, but are not suppose to. That was from reading their forums. Some of the guards at resorts give them issues if they are on sight so they wait nearby. It's a matter of some aggressive Uber drivers willing for the money to know the ropes.

Does anyone have information about Lyft, which is similar to Uber? Reviews would be appreciated. I'll be at Disney in late September & plan to visit Universal for 1 day & use either Uber or Lyft to get there (4 adult riders) staying at Bay Lake Tower.

My DD checked the Uber app when we arrived at MCO on Monday and it said they are not allowed at the airport. I'm sure you can use it other places, but it seems they can't pick up at MCO. We took a cab to RPR from the airport, it was about $47 plus tip, and also had one of those black town cars back for the $55 flat rate.

I just used Uber at Universal last week.

Hard Rock Hotel to Doubletree (across the street) -$4. No top and no attitude from the driver (I was nervous). No hassle from HRH either.

Doubletree to MCO -$20.84. Very sweet driver who chatted when we wanted and kept white to let us snooze when we wanted.

We had a $20 referral credit (u can get one from any Uber member) we had been saving, so our MCO ride was essentially free.

Has anyone had issues being dropped off at the parks or resorts at WDW using Uber or Lyft? I've seen a few people say they were making Uber drivers pay the $17 parking fees to drop off. Wondering if anyone had any recent experience. I figured we could swipe our Magic Bands for drop off easily enough but wondering if it will be possible for pickups, and will resort guards cause any problems for pickups?

I used Uber a few weeks ago when my friend had to go to the walk-in clinic and then get a prescription at Target (somewhere near Kissimmee I think). The clinic picked us up and said they would take us back, but I wanted to get straight back to the action at DHS so I had an Uber pick us up at Target. He was great and drove us right to the park. However he was stopped at the parking entry, but since we were onsite guests, I just scanned my band and we were in. I think they treat taxi cabs differently in that case, but I really didn't know. Anyway, it worked great and was very fast.

Did you happen to get picked up at a park by any chance? I think I'm scared about relying on Uber and then they give them an issue. Particularly if I'm not in the car to scan my band- like if I'm requesting to be picked up at the park.

I was only dropped off at the park. We were picked up at a Target near the clinic. The person at the parking gate was a little confused, so I just scanned my band. It might be hard to get picked up at a park. I had intended to use one from my resort as well, and the front desk said it wouldn't be a problem. So, I think resort pick-ups will be easy, and park drop-offs will also be easy. Park pick-ups might be difficult, but you could always walk to the nearest resort when possible (MK and Epcot anyway).
