SeaWorld is a one-of-a-kind theme park with a variety of attractions including awe-inspiring animal encounters, thrilling rides and spectacular shows. Follow #nothingfaster as the frenzy starts.

oh wow!
Okay - I just put WDW back on my radar for next year (having eschewed it in 2014 for FP+) - but THIS puts SeaWorld back in the picture!!
We have a cruise out of Miami planned for mid-May and we want an Orlando tack-on. We did SuperGrover passes last year to do Aquatica/SW/BG for five days. Now that we are interested in DC - I can see us totally dropping WDW again. New coaster? Woooo hoooooo!

Funny momof2n2 we bought platinum passes a year and a half age. We have been to florida , sw/BG/aquatica and discovery cove. We went xmas, march, Williamsburg, Florida Xmas/march and thinking of doing Williamsburg again. Great investment.

Busch Gardens is also getting some sort of indoor coaster/attraction next year, doesn't look like it will be as big a thrill as the Sea World coaster but it makes sense,Busch Gardens last addition was the thrilling Falcon's Fury drop ride so something thrilling but family friendly would work well.Sea World on the other hand got the Antarctica penguin ride which is barely a ride, cool attraction but a major coaster is definitely a good idea to bring in the crowds.

Busch Gardens should do something because "Cheetah Hunt" was a huge disappointment. I love the park but was expecting more from it!

I have my fingers crossed for a hypercoaster somewhat like BG Williamsburg's Apollo's Chariot, but more updated. I hadn't heard about a new family style coaster for BG/Tampa, but that sounds good. I actually really like Cheetah Hunt, and I like thrilling coasters, but it's nice to have something for everyone!

We have a name (unconfirmed) for the Busch coaster,Cobras Curse.Pretty much guaranteed to be a spinning Mack coaster.I'm excited over both coasters coming.

Here is part of the announcement -

We have exciting news to share! Surfacing summer 2016 here at SeaWorld Orlando will be Mako, a 200-foot-tall hypercoaster that will reach 73 mph along 4,760 feet of steel track — nearly a mile long—and leave riders feeling both breathless and weightless. Named for one of the ocean’s fastest known sharks, Mako will be Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster.
SeaWorld Orlando’s Mako ™ quick facts:
• Opening summer 2016, Mako will be the tallest, fastest and longest coaster in Orlando
Mako will be a hypercoaster, designed for speed and relentless “air time”
• We will now have a portfolio of five thrill rides: three distinctly different coasters, plus two family coasters
• The 2-acre realm of our park will now be fully themed around sharks: including Mako, Shark Encounter®, Sharks Underwater Grill®, themed gift shops, shark and shipwreck theming and educational experiences
“On Mako, you’ll experience what it’s like to be this apex predator, surging through the water at top speed and chasing prey throughout a massive reef,” said Brian Morrow, our attraction creative director. “It will be a wild mix of fear, thrills and fun.”
Mako’s tight turns and speed are inspired by reality. Mako sharks — also called “blue pointers” — are known for their top speed, making extreme jumps and the ability to quickly change course as they pursue their prey.
The new coaster will become one of the world’s few true hypercoasters, a group of roller coasters known for high speeds and steep drops and hills that create a feeling of weightlessness or “air time.” As the sleek coaster cars crest each hill, riders float, nearly weightless.
Mako is manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, a company renowned among coaster enthusiasts. B&M has built many of the world’s top roller coasters, including Manta and Kraken, and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s SheiKra.
The entire realm is created to make guests feel they’re underwater, part of the group of sharks and toothy animals that have taken over a shipwrecked reef.
In the plaza, guests will learn about the impact humans are having on sharks and why these animals are critical to the environment. Sharks are hunted for their fins — considered a delicacy in certain countries — and thousands are caught accidentally in nets. Several species of sharks are on the verge of extinction.
“It’s this blend of education and thrills, immersing guests in an underwater world, that sets a SeaWorld ride apart from others,” said Morrow.
“Our fans will love how Mako complements our other rides. Kraken is big, monstrous and twisty. Manta is massive and glides smoothly, taking you on a flight like a huge ray. Mako is entirely different. It’s streamlined and fast, just like a mako shark. There’s no wasted motion, it’s all speed and dives.”
Mako uses a unique sound system to enhance the experience, and not just for those on the ride. The full score of Mako can be heard and follows riders out of the station and up the lift hill. Custom surround effects and musical scores fill the realm, changing as the coaster dives through the area.
At night, specialty lights will accent the coaster trains, realm and track, flickering and shimmering, simulating fish being scattered by a mako on the hunt.

Follow the Mako frenzy using the hashtag #NothingFaster. Visit SeaWorldOrlando.com for more information and updates on the new ride.

Technically Sheikra at BGT is also a hypercoaster at 200 ft tall.My biggest hope is that it has ridiculous amounts of airtime.I've ridden Apollos Chariot in Busch Gardens Williamsburg a handful of times and I just love those airtime hills, given that they're both B&M coasters with similar stats I'm crossing my fingers for a similar ride.Interestingly Apollos Chariot is only 170 feet tall but qualifies as a Hypercoaster since it has a 210 foot drop.

They unveiled the car today, at least the front portion. Those of you who do not like shoulder bars will be happy - the car (at least as unveiled) only has a lap bar.

It has a shark on the front of the car and I am not sure if I like it or not. Maybe once I see the entire train and see how the theming goes it will grow on me.

For those of you who have not been keeping track - construction appears to be moving along nicely. They have track sections farthest from the station, behind Journey to Atlantis, where it turns around to complete yet. They also have the section where it turns around in the park itself, close to the flamingo boats, to complete. Much of the rest of the track is up now. The shell of the station is there but it is obvious much more work needs to be done there yet.

I also saw the pictures. It looks great! I can't wait until it's done

Anyone have any insight as to WHEN it might be open? We're gonna be there the second week in June for a couple of weeks and the new rides are putting a glitch in my touring plans!!! We have the Flex Pass plus and its impossible to plan my park days with so many possibilities/what ifs! Hulk, Kong, Mako, the new ride at Busch Gardens...all say Summer 2016.....anyone have any thoughts as to when they'll be running?

It is listed as summer 2016
That's the best info we have so far unless we see Twitter info otherwise

There's a Passholder preview for June. But otherwise there are no dates/times out
