Stroller Question

I have a question, how old is too old for a stroller? My daughter is 6 but she is a tiny 6 year old and I am thinking of bringing my little umbrella stroller for her when we go to the parks in July. We will be there about a week before the anniversary. She would definitely use it from the hotel (Disneyland hotel) to the gate but I am not sure how much she would use it during the day. Is there someplace we could park it for the day? I wouldn't be too sad if it were to disappear, its old and she barely uses it. It just me and my kids going so not a lot of people that could hold her if and when she gets tired. Any advice would be appreciated.

All kids are different. My oldest did not use a stroller by age 4, and we used a stroller for my youngest until she was 7. --Not because she was the baby, she is just very fragile. She has thrown up from the heat when it was barely 90 degrees. We took a stroller for my 5 year old granddaughter in April and she was very offended. "Strollers are for babies." And at first we thought it was an inconvenience, but when she napped in it we decided it was a good thing. --It was a very old stroller; we ended up parking it at one point and decided not to brave the exiting crowd to go back for it.

Well I don't think there is a correct answer however the last time we used a stroller was when DS was 3, when he was 4 that was our first trip to DL stroller free and I loved it! Sure having a stroller can be convenient for a tired kid but to me it was just a hassle during the day (park the stroller, get the kid out, go on a ride, find the stroller, get the kid back in) and I found my kids were capable of much more walking than I ever thought. If you just want to use it for the to/from the parks I'm sure you could find a spot inside the park to park it, like the stroller parking area in Tomorrowland or another area like that.

My kids are 6 and 7 and they are begging me to bring the stroller! LOL I think we'll mainly only use it for the walk from the HoJo, and then just park it as we move from land to land. It's also good for them to have a spot to sit for parades or whatnot, and it gives them a little shade.
There are stroller parking areas all over, so I've always felt comfortable leaving it parked for an hour or so while we do that particular land. Never had it stolen or anything taken from inside (not that we leave anything valuable, mainly snacks and water). But I can't imagine making the walk back to the hotel at the end of the night without it!

I'm taking DD (6) in 3 weeks and am not bringing the stroller.... Ok now that I think of it I don't have a stroller anymore anyway. But she is used to walking quite a bit. I took her for one day when she was 4 and she did fine walking around. This time will be for 3 days and I am sure she will get tired but we will just plan on taking some breaks in the afternoon and sit on a bench and people watch or hang out in toon town. Its amazing how she is only tired when its walking from one destination to another, but if its playing than she can go on forever.

My 5 year old does fine walking if we take a break mid- day or only stay a half day. When I was a kid my mom stopped taking a stroller when I was 4. But every kid is different.

From everything you wrote I'd say take the stroller and don't worry about what anyone else thinks :)
I still use a stroller for my 6 year old mainly because he wants it and is still comfortable in it. Also, I love my stroller - it handles great, folds with one hand and I like having a place for drinks and stuff while walking around the park.

You could go either way. We take a stroller now, for my one-year-old. With my older girls, we stopped when my (then) youngest was 5.5. Even then, my older child (then seven-years-old) would plop down in it whenever she had the opportunity. If she hasn't been using a stroller for a while, she may be offended by the suggestion, though. Last year, I had the stroller along for the baby and made the suggestion that my middle child (then 7) use it at one point. She was quite offended by the suggestion that she use a baby stroller (though she was still below the weight limit for it).

I have to admit, though, going strollerless is fantastic. If she can handle the walk from the hotel and back, I'd try to go without it.

For your own sanity and convenience I would take it. You say you are going alone with your kids so it will come in handy for a multitude of reasons.
-as a ride to and from hotel (which you say she will ride in)
-if it has a basket it can store water and snacks (less for you to carry)
-when it gets busy put one in the stroller and make the other kids hang on as you push the stroller through the crowds.
-carrying a sleeping 6 year old is no fun for anyone!

I would take it and just park it when you get to a land, when your ready to move on grab it and go. Easy, peasy! Don't forget the bright colored ribbon so you can spot it in the mass of strollers!

Have a magical time!
