New Device for Locating/Contacting Children

I know this was brought up somewhere else, but I'm brainfarting on what to search for to find it.

I was reading an article on Yahoo News and saw this link in the ad section. Being the nosy person that I am (ok, ok, I was attracted by the pretty colors lol), I checked it out. I know parents don't want to get their pre-teen and younger kids cell phones, but still want to be able to locate or contact them. This company has come up with a device that is basically a cell phone watch, with GPS tracking features. It's $200 plus $10/month service for unlimited minutes and tracking locations. I figured I'd share it with you guys, in case someone was interested. :)

I am wondering if something like this would work in Disney? It's our first time there, we have never been to so large a place or with so many people (summer!) and I have considered getting something for my kids should they wander off. Mostly my 7 year old who is really good at wandering off.

Write your cell number on your child's magic band and teach them to go to a store or ride entrance and identify any cast member by their name badge. The name badges are all white, oval and look very similar. All non-character cast members wear them.

In my experience kids who are likely to wander off, are also likely to loose or damage any device given to them, which generally becomes more of a nuisance.

Disney is extremely well organised, the place is teaming with staff, I can't think of a safer place to loose a child in all honesty, despite the vast size of the place and huge number of guests I think they are extremely proficient at dealing with these types of situations. I would make sure your child is aware of what to do if they get separated, but I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest.

Could this have been the device you saw.. https://www.angelsense.com/product-tour/

I can see the advantage of this for a child with special needs, although I think the likelihood of it working effectively in WDW is questionable, we struggle to change a fast pass with the internet speed being so slow.

Or buy Tiles. They are designed to keep track of your stuff, but it might work for a kid. It beeps when you get close (although not sure you can hear it in WDW). We are putting them on our strollers and bags for next week, in case something grows legs and disappears while we are on a ride (aka is stolen).
