Dis Old Fogies Clubhouse – Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other. Makes No Difference!

Memorial Day here today. Our little town is getting ready to have its very patriotic parade. I always love watching the ceremony; it's very well done and I think this is something we need to keep doing.

How's everyone doing today?

.

OK I'm at my wits end. Fran is at her worst pain level ever. She is totally bonkers. I can't even deal. She is more abusive than ever, and I truly want to kill her and put her out of her misery for her sake, but I know better. ugh.

She broke down and took the oral meds this morning. Hopefully there won't be complications with drug interactions.

So sorry to hear Fran is feeling worse than on Friday. Hugs to both of you.

Well now she is much better because of the oral medication. It starts working within a day or two. It wears off in a day or two when you stop taking it. The pills just cost $1200 a month. But I guess her sanity is worth that.

I felt like it flew by too quickly since I crammed so much into the week. We really enjoyed the Paint the Night parade.

We were back by IASW for the Fireworks. I think you're going like both the parade and fireworks.

Now that Fran is back on the other meds, I want to book a paid tour and on a separate night I want to have a lamburger and see WoC. I also want to book the fireworks viewing plus try to see them.from non VIP locations.

She is so focused on band crap because evidently we are moving locations in June. We have talked about this for almost a year, but our current location gave us an ultimatum this last week. It was a real toss up whether or not to move to the church where PIO saw our concert. We wouldn't have as much storage space, but with the ultimatum we got last week, the move is a no brained now.

We get less storage but more support from the parish. We wouldn't need to rent a truck for concerts but would need to find a storage location for thE music library. ugh.

And....who is responsible for moving all the band equipment and working out storage for the music library???

I sure hope you're taking a big step backwards!!!!

Nice and quiet here. We stayed home (I hate traveling this weekend; traffic is usually nuts). Weather was perfect. Watched our parade (which goes right by our house) and just relaxed!

I can't seem to find the pics I'm looking for, but @franandaj , are you the folks from PiO's TR who have the amazing house with all the cat furniture?! I need a house like that!!! :worship:

Our equivalent of Memorial Day is ANZAC day. We celebrated that in April.
The Parade route sounds awesome! What a way to enjoy it.

No public holiday here. Just business as usual. :)

Oh, Alison, I really hope Fran starts feeling better soon :( That's no way to live a life, in that kind of pain. Are you guys going to have any help in moving the band equipment and all that?

@DisneyFirefly I hope you're feeling better!!!!

I'm doing better. The pain came back tonight, since I went back to work today, but it was nowhere near what it was last Wednesday.

For anyone not PIO, I went to the ER late Wednesday night because of severe pain in my left side (NOT my chest, just my side). It hurt so bad even just lying down that I thought I was going to cry. They did some tests, but it looks like it's just a muscle strain, which doesn't surprise me. So they gave me muscle relaxants and Naproxen for pain, as well as a note to be put on light duty for the next five days. Well, I called in Thursday, because my roommate and I didn't get home from the ER until almost 4am, and I was still so out of it from the meds they gave me in the ER (Valium, which surprised me) that I didn't feel comfortable going to work. So I called in Thursday and stayed home except for a trip to Walmart to get my prescriptions filled. Then Friday, I went to work and talked to my chef before I clocked in. Because it was only for the next four days and I was scheduled off two of them, he told me to just go home and rest and he'd take me off the schedule. He didn't see the point in having me go through the process of getting signed up for light duty when it was only going to be two days. I dropped off my costume and went home. Because of the medications, I think I was only awake for about six or seven hours on Friday. The only thing I really did this weekend was laundry, because now I don't have a day off until DF and my parents get here next Friday, and packing a bag for next weekend. Other than that, it was mostly just sitting on the couch staring at the TV in a medicated daze. Or sleeping. I've drank so much water since Thursday, omg. One of the side effects of Naproxen is apparently "excessive thirst". Dear lord. I had FOUR of those giant 32oz cups of water at work today. Not to mention draining my 32oz Nalgene on the way to work.

Well we are taking a big step back, but we don't like their solution. Fran is invested in the library of the band and they want to store it at this guy's house in Hollywood until they can give us a second storage room. Unfortunately he lives at the top of a big hill. Not sure if you have ever been to a house in the Hollywood Hills, but they really suck. No parking and some have giant hills to get to the houses, evidently this guy has one of those.

However, we have been going up there and taking the good stuff and bringing it back to our house so she can scan it and have it in pdf form. It might be that by the time that the move happens, there won't be any good stuff left in the library there that it will all be crap that we might decide to sell on eBay or just get rid of.

Yes, we have cat trees is every room of the house. Even in our bathroom. When I take a tub in the walkin tub, sometimes I have a cat in the cat tree enjoying the sun that comes in through the window.

She has had much relief, and we are no longer in charge. We can just back out at any point and let these new people waffle in their own stupidity. When they made a rule that the 5 member board could have no more than 20% of "involved Persons" we realized that they NEVER want Fran and I on the board. At that point we changed our Grocery donations to a cat charity, and stopped giving them any other money. They really lost out, now they are trying to find ways to finance the band without us. They got a bunch of money from a guy's estate back around 10 years ago, but they squandered that when we weren't on the board.

We are not going to offer them any cash, nor are we going to offer lots of information. Only what will benefit us. We are done with really helping them after they have stabbed us in the back.

Dana,

I'm sorry about the trip to the ER. I hope that you are feeling better now. That's pretty scary to having something like that happen!
