Hello,

We leave for Disney June 15th - 21st. We have boys 9/12/15 and girls 10/11/12/16. We have our tickets in the form of the Magic cards that look like credit cards and have the magnetic strip on the back.

What are some tips for securing the cards for some of the children if we want to allow them to go off to ride a ride using their cards Fast passes while we run herd on the smaller children? Are lanyards ok? Can a hole punch be made in the card ( not near the magnetic strip )??

Thanks a bunch,

Jeff

I would get the lanyards with the plastic sleeves. They can wear them under their shirts if need be. It keeps them dry and not lost. I wouldn't punch a hole though.

I did this with my daughter one year. And put some super glue over the clasp on the lanyard so it couldn't accidentally open and the plastic sleeve slide off. It can still tear off I guess, but I've never seen it happen.

they have lanyards that have the plastic pouch you insert card into.

You can get magic bands that they can wear around wrist for 12 or 13 bucks. Designers bands are more expensive.

For added insurance, take picture of numbers on back of card. If lost, the cards can be replaced.

Don't just take a picture of it, but send it to your email (or spouses email). That way you can usually get a copy of the pictures off the email server (either in the SENT folder or the INBOX of the one you sent it to) after the vacation, you can delete it.

If the cards are lost, it's very difficult (and potentially impossible) to get them replaced without the numbers on the cards.

We stay on property so we get the Magic bands. Soooo Much better (imho). They are not uncomfortable and kind of stylish too. Even the basic "Grey" ones aren't bad. They are water proof, and for me, it was just easier to wear it the entire vacation. I did take it off one night because the DW "encouraged" me to take it off at night. Next day at the Dock at Fort Wilderness, I realized I forgot to put it back on. Short "Jog" (well sort of) later and I got it and made it back to the dock before they boat arrived and they left. I guess I got my exercise that day.

Lanyards are probably $5-$8, Magic Bands are $12/$13 and won't be hanging on their necks flapping in the wind. I'd buy MBs personally.

And lanyards can get caught on things while flapping in the wind or get snagged on the "Back Pack" or Camera Strap hanging around your neck or shoulder.

The choice really is yours but I have to say, I do like the Magic Bands a whole lot better than the cards, especially if you are worried about losing the cards.

Still take a picture of the card numbers though even if you do transfer them to the MB's. Just in case.

If you're trying to save money and don't want to buy the magicbands for that many people you can buy lanyards ahead of time for really cheap. I've also seen zippered top name badge holders, you can buy them at an office supply store.
Kinda like this. Of course you can do any kind of lanyard you like. I just found this online for a sample. Have fun! We might see you there. :thumbsup2
