DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Poor kid was crying and upset. (No wonder.)

So I picked her up.

They made the movie with 10 minutes to spare.
Definitely not the way you want to find out you're going to be driving way out of your way... but at least you managed to save the day.

Exhibit a. At one point, a driver is told to go to fuel map 4.
Scott Goodyear points out that they're going to start saving fuel.
About 5 minutes later, Eddie pipes up that there's something they haven't talked about yet.
Some drivers may be starting to save fuel!
Way to go Eddie!! Here's your sign!

Exhibit b. Scott Dixon dips two wheels below the white line on the back straight to signal his intention to pit.
This has been a common practice for .... I dunno 10? 20? more? years? Everyone does it. Everyone knows about it.
Pit windows are coming up. Dixon's been the first in for a while now. He dips below the line.
Eddie: "Whoa! What kind of line is Dixon taking! He went way low on the track!"
Goodyear: "I think he's just coming in to pit. Yes there he goes."
Atta boy Eddie. Here's a sucker. Go sit quietly while the grown ups watch the race, okay?
You know, I've never been a big fan of Eddie Cheever. But I never really had a strong dislike for him either. Until this month. Between the BS he was spouting during qualifications and the race, it was just driving me nuts. He says that a dirt track driver is supposedly not qualified to drive one of these newer Indycars. I guess under that same token, maybe they should find someone who has actually driven a modern Indycar to talk about them.

But then again, Goodyear hasn't driven one in years and he still seems to do a good job.

I definitely prefer the Paul Tracy/Townsend Bell duo on the NBCSN race coverage though.

Need to ask for prayers and warm thoughts for Jodi. If you don't know, I am getting my right knee replaced Thursday the 28th. I'll be in the hospital for a couple of days after that. Also her big sister and SIL's husband will be here the 29th to visit. When they come they stay at a B&B, but Jodi drives them around. Also Jodi's mother's 95th birthday is June 2nd, so they are going to have a party for her over the weekend. The planning and scheduling for their visit and MIL's birthday always seem to fall on Jodi's shoulders. So please keep Jodi in your thoughts and prayers to have the strength to hold up. Added to all this, Jodi is sick today, so she can Really use those prayers.

Thank You!
Randall
Definitely, Randall. Sounds like she'll be busy with everything. And you just had to schedule your knee replacement for this week, huh? :rolleyes1

At first I didn't want to do it, but when I found out the circumstances, I was like:
"Let's go get her!"

It's like he's forgotten everything about cars and racing.
PT's a little stilted, but at least he still knows most of the drivers and knows what he's talking about.

Ok, PT can be as full of it as Eddie and say things that are even farther off base and potentially more controversial, but here's the difference. Eddie has an arrogance about him that he seems to think he's always right, and everything he says is 100% serious. If a guy wants to play that role, that's fine. But he better live up to it or I'm done.

PT, on the other hand, has made a career of just being colorful and saying the first thing that hits the tip of his tongue. You pretty much know to take every opinionated thing he says with a grain of salt, but when it comes to the nuts and bolts of it all he does know what he's talking about.

I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment, of both of them.

Will be keeping you both in prayer.

Just went back one page. Will try to catch up on what else I missed later. Need to get caught up on work.

Quick thoughts...
Kids and SWMBO had a great time at Disney though SWMBO ended up with very sore feet which really hurt her for the last couple of days.
I like the dining plan but would probably not do the table service again. 5 buffets in 4 days is too much.
Definitely need to plan in a couple of non-park days.
I could skip Hollywood Studios entirely.
I like Animal Kingdom more than my family but I like the science and they like the rides.

Afternoon guys. As a reminder, the college football season starts in 100 days. Not sure I can make it till then.

Good call on the ribs. I enjoy ribs, but they can take awhile to cook.

And, thanks for the offer. I would be more likely to ship myself down to Miami and leave them both here with their mother.

I doubt that your wife would give you the OK but if you can get away with it, come on down. The ribs came out pretty well. Really like the rub I used but the fire was hotter than it needed to be. Leftovers will be consumed tonight including the pasta salad which was excellent.

Thoughts and prayers are with you and Jodi. Hang in there bubba and know your recovery is in capable hands.

Thank you guys, Jodi always liked you best!

Hey wait a minute. Jodi said she liked me best! Maybe that was because the kid with me.

Sorry to hear about your wife's feet issues. I kind of agree with your observations. I don't do table service restaurants all the time any more and haven't been to a buffet in a while. I also find non park days are consuming more of my vacation. I just enjoy the resorts more and more.

A long day. 4 hours round trip in the car today. But, I may be off for the rest of the summer until August.

Glad you had a good trip and thanks for the pictures. I enjoy the non-park days, although, won't be getting any this trip due to the inlaws. I disagree on the food though as we do a TS daily. We may not do the buffets, but I do really eat a lot. I like AK, but the family doesn't. I cold just to the safari ride repeatedly throughout the day as I enjoy the animals.

.

I wasn't planning on the ok. I was thinking that an abduction story might work. Maybe I could go with a sleep walking/ sleep driving scenario. That should work.

Prayers for Jodi as well as you and your knee!

Afternoon guys. As a reminder, the college football season starts in 100 days. Not sure I can make it till then.

3 weeks till I leave on vacation. That's all I have going for me at the moment.

Anyone know what day it is?

Better ask Fed.

One day closer to the grave

Or

One day closer to your next trip to Disney

Wow, there's an optimism/pessimism test for you. I'm going to stick with the latter, even if I have no idea when the next trip to Disney will happen.

Good morning all. Still tired from all the driving yesterday.

Is that... a good thing?
I was going to say something like "Way to go!" then I thought... wait. What does that mean?

That's a good thing. I work for a state university and have lots of vacation time.

One day closer to the grave

That's morbid. Sounds like you need some bourbon.

.

Hey, that's something. I have similar time frames, but my vacation includes the in-laws.
