Does anyone remember the canoe ride/sing along back in the 80s?

I stayed at the campground in the late 80s. One of my favorite memories was a canoe ride to a small island. When we got there we sang songs and roasted marshmallows. Then the electrical water parade went past. I suppose it was the beginning of the chip and dale sing along. Just curious if anyone else remembers this.

Bump...
Hello! Anybody?

This was before I made it there, sorry, but I am interested.

Marshmallow Marsh. Definately a great time in the 80's. You would leave by canoe from Meadows Bike Barn and canoe out past the 300 loop and watch the fireworks and electric parade from there. Very neat memories.

I remembered this as a kid as well. I wished they still did it, but there is so much more to do at the Fort now. My funniest memory that I have from this, is when my grandmother went to get into the canoe, she was so scared that we would tip over and drown b/c she couldn't swim. He finally convinced her that she would be okay, bc the water was only about 1 1/2 feet deep. The one thing that I didn't remember, that my parents did, is when we would go under the bridge, I was sitting at the corner of the canoe and I would yell, "DUCK"!! I thought it was really neat.

Yes! The marshmallow marsh! I was young- probably around 12 yrs old, yet I still remember how much fun we had.

FROM WALTDATEDWORLD:

This was an after-dark activity open only to Disney resort guests. It was well under $10 per person. Here's how it worked as of the early 1980's: after meeting at one of the trading posts, guests and hosts would walk down a path where an appropriate number of Davy Crockett Explorer-type canoes were waiting. We'd get in and paddle to Marshmallow Marsh (somewhere at the edge of Fort Wilderness) while the guides chatted about Disney trivia and Walt Disney World insider information along the way. While we paddled, we'd sing the Marshmallow Marsh song, which was set to the tune of "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain."

At the marsh, there was a campfire with marshmallows to roast and a singalong of Disney tunes (conducted by the same hosts and hostesses now equipped with guitars) from the familiar to the obscure. At some point in the evening, we would view the Electrical Water Pageant during its River Country stop. At the end, we'd sing the Mickey Mouse Club Alma Mater and get back in our canoes and go back to the trading post. It really disappointed me when I returned some years later in the late 1980's, to find out that the Marshmallow Marsh program was no longer offered."

For years the path back to the area was still accessible and you could walk back there. It had a great view for the water pageant.
