Heading to Universal, scared I won't fit.

If it helps, I fit snugly on 7DMT, but the restraint had to go down way less, than anything I experienced in Universal. I suppose you could compare the restraints on Mummy and Gringotts to 7DMT somewhat, but I didn't fit on Gringotts, and Mummy was close, but thankfully doable (I loved it!)

We rode at IOA today, and I was able to fit on every coaster/ride except for FJ (didn't try Dr. Doom because I am not interested in that ride). Like come on! As a pair we tried the test seats for FJ and I didn't look down at the colors, but we were told we wouldn't fit. I didn't try pressing down extremely hard, but we just settled to do the walkthrough inside. On the Hulk and Dragon I was able to sit in the non-modified rows (in Hulk I was row 8/last row, on Dragon I was row 5), so that sort of gives people an idea of how restrictive FJ is for people with thick lower bodies like I have.

We do the other park tomorrow so we'll see then how that goes.

What size are you, if you don't mind me asking ?

Update for Universal since we went yesterday:

I was able to get the green light on Gringotts on the test seat, but just barely. I didn't ride the ride because my partner couldn't and I wouldn't ride without him. We had express passes so another reason was that I didn't want him to wait outside for an hour for me.

I did ride:

Despicable Me - horrible fit for my partner as the bar comes down automatically. I didn't like the ride period.
Simpsons Ride
Twister
Disaster
ET
Revenge of the Mummy (rode alone) - when I tried the test seat it was on the line between green and red (or is it red/yellow I don't remember). I asked the TM if I was ok to ride and she sympathized with me since we had a similar body type. She told me to go to row 4, which I did, and it was a little tight, but it was fine....I would liken the tightness to 7DMT.

I didn't try Rip Ride Rocket (nor test seat) as I was full of my share of coasters by the end of the day!

I am about a size 20/22..depending on the pants. For tops it is usually a 1x or 18-20.

Almost the Same as me then, I'm an 18/20 pants and a 1x or 2x top. I have a large chest. I'm desperately wanting to go on FJ. I was an 18/20 last time I went and I was able to fit in the modified seat. I have 53 days before we leave, and I'll trying my hardest to loose some more before we go so I won't be uncomfortable and can ride FJ. I'm so scared I won't be able to though as I've gained about 10lbs since I was there. Same size though.

I had a thought while at the park...maybe temporarily wear a compression garment for just that ride and then take it off? I know people already said to wear tighter, gym like clothing, but for FJ for me it was because of my thick thigh area in which the part that touches my legs would not go down far enough.

I am crossing my fingers for you that you are able to fit. Happy riding!

Hi all,

Ive been ok with the thought of not fitting into rides, but now that my trip is almost here I'm stressing big time!

I have been working hard on losing weight, and have lost 14 by now, but still have some work to do.

My challenge area is my hips and butt, but my waist has slimmed down. I wear a US womens 24/26 pant and 2x tshirt.

Please let me know where I might have trouble! ANY info is appreciated!
Do you by chance know your measurements? I'm in the same boat you were. My trip is in 5 days and now that I have found all these threads about fitting into rides I am completely freaking out. I'm about a 22 pant size and 2X shirt. My bra is a 40H so I have problems there. The bad part is that even sizes is hard to tell what actual measurements could be different and people also wear clothes different. I'm just curious if you wouldn't mind sharing. I'm starting to freak out and have spent the last 2 hours reading posts and crying cuz I'm so nervous!!!

Just wanted to throw my two cents in- I'm 5'4, size 22/2x. Here's my experience from about a month ago:
Did not fit in Forbidden Journey but no big loss as I get motion sick easily and saw two people vomiting coming off the ride.
Very tight squeeze on Gringotts but totally worth it.
Made the mistake of allowing a team member to put my husband and I in the same Flight of the Hippogriff seat. Luckily that ride is like 30 seconds long because I really thought I was gonna fall out.

How is your trip going? What have you got into? We're at 6 weeks now and I'm really nervous. I'm not loosing weight at all!

I am getting ready to go back to Universal and was freaking out about fitting as well. I could not remember what size I was the last time. Then I remember I made a post about fitting on the FJ last time. I hope this will help!

"My family and I went to Harry Potter World today and I wanted to help some of those who are worried about riding the Forbidden Journey because of their size. I was able to ride it just fine. I weigh about 230, wear size 18, large thighs, a fluffy gut, and have a large bust size of 40F. I did try the seat outside and the lady checked me and said I could ride. I did not have to try the second test seat inside. When I went to get on the ride the gentleman asked me to sit on the end. The restraint came down just fine and all they did was walked over and lifted it to make sure that it was latched. During the ride I was actually sliding around the seat a little bit.

Oh and the ride was beyond words of how great it was. Loved it!"

I am so happy I posted this because I have lost 15 pounds since then and know I will fit again! Can not wait to try Gringotts! :dogdance:

This thread has been very helpful. I'm a bit concerned about DD when it comes to FJ - she's very top heavy (bust and belly) but she's about the same size as Jennc27, top wise (she's very small on the bottom) so perhaps there's hope!

I was watching this thread, but forgot to check back in with my experiences after we visited Universal this past summer. I'm about the same measurements Jennc27 mentioned, a little bigger cup size up top, and I fit in everything just fine. There were a few "suck it in" moments, but nothing where I was ever uncomfortable to the point of pain or felt like I might be in danger riding. (No ride, no matter how awesome, is worth that, after all.)

Sort of nervous. Same here. 18/20 pants, 1X shirts. :/ We're going because DS2 and I just love Harry Potter, and to not be able to ride ... it would be horrible. DS2 is too younger to go on it by himself.

This and your other post tell me that the FJ situation wasn't correct. You really could have tried.

I was 5'3" and 20W-should-have-been-22W, and I fit just fine in the outside seats of FJ. I never tried the outside one b/c it's not totally accurate since they loosened up the requirements for the outside seats. I had big solid strong legs and I carried weight in my lower belly (and everywhere else), but it was fine. I'm sorry you didn't try the actual seat on FJ.

maybe temporarily wear a compression garment for just that ride and then take it off?

No, you want to wear lose clothing so that you can move where the restraint tells you to go. You don't want to squeeze here when the ride wants you to squish *there*.

I know those posts are from May, but they really made me say "hmm".

So to the people posting more currently, TRY the actual seat. No one outside your party cares if you have to leave; decent people aren't watching and caring about what's going on with you. But I would hate for you to have disappointment without actually trying that seat. Because it's often far more lenient than the test seat outside.

At a womens size 22/24 pants and 2xl top my freind was able to ride Forbidden Journey and Gringotts and Dragon Challenge adn Hulk She didnt try any others She said Gringotts was tight though She tried the test seats in advance and no one even noticed her stiiting in them

OK I'm working on planning a summer trip. DH is 275 6 ft tall guy 40 inch waist wearing pants below belly. My brother 5'6' 40 in waist. I'm a womens 3x and don't ride many thrill rides. Ds is 6.

Are the kids rides in the kids rides is Seussland, and Despicable Me a comfortable fit?

Which rides are the most family friendly? (aka nothing worse than Barnstormer and tamer than Seven dwarf mine train)
