Canadian Buffoon's Solo Disney Vacation - Update 07/08! pp99 - Here today gone tomorrow

I have just been reading along until now, but that last update was too awesome not to comment on!! I am so impressed, I don't even walk in the ocean over my ankles..LOL That must have been such an experience. Anyway, I am enjoying your trip report very much.

Well, he's dived in Turkey in WWII wrecks there and in Thailand several times where he was certified. No cold water yet up in the PNW, but wants to. The thought of doing a "tame"/staged dive probably won't cut it, but I'm certainly going to show him the videos and see what he thinks. He would probably enjoy that a WHOLE lot more than wandering around WS given the 2 options. I'll let you know!

Hmmm.... Sounds like some pretty interesting dives, so maybe not.
I guess it depends on if he wants to dive with a plethora of fish or not.
Do let me know. I'm curious.

I was too enraptured with your tale to remember to multi-quote as I went and just immersed myself into your story of playing underwater MagicMaker.

I like that! That's a pretty good compliment! :goodvibes:

Kudos to you for giving the thrill of imagination to the kiddos- maybe you inspired the next Cousteau.

You never know! :)
Except none of them will have a clue who Jacques Cousteau was.

I've been doing contests for a while on my TRs as well, but I'm not sure any of my prizes have been that cool.

 Thanks! I'm pretty happy that the shirt was the wrong size.
Ah... I may have given it away anyway... if it had occurred to me.

Spaceship Earth on the way to the bus.
Illuminations
12 minutes

Check!

You got it right [Meat loaf] its on the Bat out of H*** Album so you should award yourself 10 points for that.

Hmmm.... never thought about awarding myself points.
I could win this contest in a heartbeat!

Off course I would not mind a couple of points Especially if I got an answer right. But I am going to stick with my previous guesses and hope for the best.

Consider it done.

I was probably first to read the update but now the last to comment.

Prove it!! :lmao:

You're lucky, I was just about to put out a post about how long it was taking you.

The dive looked awesome. Wish I was certified.

Oh, I'm sure you're certifiable and.... oh. Certified.
Never mind.

Yes the dive was awesome.
I plan on doing it again.

Darn it, that shirt is way too small for me!

Me too. But that's why it's up for grabs!

Spaceship Earth
Illuminations
7 minutes for a bus.

Got 'em!

Went to a rib cook off last night. Had my favorite sweet sauce with pulled pork. Also some fresh cut french fries and cotton candy. It was freezing so we didn't stay very long. Have a cook out to go to on Monday.

mmmmm... sounds good!
Sucks that it was cold out though.
Monday's forecast looks pretty good for you.

I got a point for tea and Jammie's? Heck, I should have 100 points then, I'm good at tea and Jammie's! Lol!

:lmao:
So you're a tea and jammie pro!

I loved this update, and for some strange reason, I felt like a proud mother. You overcame so much to do this, not just like a little fear of the dentist and you bravely go in for a cleaning, but YOU SWAM WITH FREAKING SHARKS!!!

Awwww.... Thanks Mom!

Thanks for bringing us along!

:goodvibes Thanks for reading!

8 points for graduating college?! That's a great graduation gift!

Well deserved! :)

I did the Shark Reef over at Typhoon Lagoon...not as cool as your tour, but still cool, and I had the same thought process: "Mickey wouldn't want me to be eaten by a shark, therefore these sharks can't be too dangerous." And we're both still here!

And we have the bite marks to prove it!!

That sounds like such an amazing experience being up close and personal with all these animals. And the interactions with guests sound so fun!!

It was so amazing. I can't wait to do it again! :)

I'm going to say Test Track, Illuminations, and 10 minutes for a bus!

Got it!

I have just been reading along until now, but that last update was too awesome not to comment on!!

You've been reading along, but I still want to :welcome: you to the TR!

So nice of you to pop out of lurkdom to tell me that! Thanks! :goodvibes

I am so impressed, I don't even walk in the ocean over my ankles..LOL That must have been such an experience.

 I don't walk in the ocean over my ankles either!
(And yet I went surfing... twice! I still don't know how I did it.)

And it was an absolutely mind blowing/fantastic experience!

Anyway, I am enjoying your trip report very much.

Thanks so much for posting and for reading along! :goodvibes

I figured I needed to post something or else I would be in trouble.

I graduated college,,,do I get points? Of course it was in 1997.

I thought it might rain on Monday. They said they're having the cook-out no matter what. They aren't good friends of ours but I said I would watch their dogs for two weeks this summer while they are on vacation so I'm really going just to meet the dogs. For DH, the guy makes his own beer so I'll be driving home.

Wow...what a spectacular update! I was glued. It's not something I can do, but my husband would love this. We are doing the Dolphin Experience in October, but I will mention this to him for a future trip.

The videos were fun to watch. And I LOVE the pixie dust that you spread to all those sweet kids.

I love that you had a "shadow"...better safe than sorry.

I'm going to guess you went to the Studios, rode Rock & Roll again and saw Fantasmic. I'm guessing a 15 minute wait for the bus.

I figured I needed to post something or else I would be in trouble.

You're darned tootin'!
Can you say "deduct"?

I graduated college,,,do I get points? Of course it was in 1997.

 Nice try!

And.... no.

It was a graduation gift... not a graduated gift!

I thought it might rain on Monday. They said they're having the cook-out no matter what. They aren't good friends of ours but I said I would watch their dogs for two weeks this summer while they are on vacation so I'm really going just to meet the dogs.

Still calling for partly cloudy and warm (80F).
Good of you to watch the pups. Who knows, maybe you'll wind up enjoying yourself after all.

For DH, the guy makes his own beer so I'll be driving home.

See? You already know that at least one of you will have fun!

Wow...what a spectacular update! I was glued.

Thanks, Kathy! :goodvibes

It's not something I can do, but my husband would love this. We are doing the Dolphin Experience in October, but I will mention this to him for a future trip.

If he's certified, he can certainly do it.
It was so much fun, I'm pretty sure he'd enjoy it.

The videos were fun to watch.

Thanks, but I can only take credit for editing them down to just me.

And I LOVE the pixie dust that you spread to all those sweet kids.

:) It was absolutely the best!

I love that you had a "shadow"...better safe than sorry.

I just thought, "I guess I don't really need one.
There are CMs in the area and if anything should arise... I will merely... rise."

I'm going to guess you went to the Studios, rode Rock & Roll again and saw Fantasmic. I'm guessing a 15 minute wait for the bus.

Check!

NOOOOOOO!!!!! I can't afford any deductions! Got to get back in the lead! You know, for all those prizes I can't use. :tilt:

I'd really rather not go. The wife is not friendly. And I'm allergic to dogs!

I would love to say I was very busy and that's why I haven't posted yet...but I wasn't...maybe I was just taking time to think of answers to your quiz questions. Yeah! That's it!

I think you went on Spaceship earth, saw Illuminations and the bus was waiting for you when you got there! (wishful thinking but it could have happened) Or maybe the guy who thought he recognized you came back to apologize and offered to drive you back to your resort? lol

Loved reading about your dive. I can't swim (almost drowned a few times myself, including during a swimming lesson :( ) so I have a lot of respect for you getting certified to dive!

NOOOOOOO!!!!! I can't afford any deductions! Got to get back in the lead! You know, for all those prizes I can't use. :tilt:

:lmao:

Okay. No deductions.... for now.
And I already told you we'd work something out.

Oooooh... that sounded almost naughty.

I'd really rather not go. The wife is not friendly. And I'm allergic to dogs!

 Your allergic... so you're taking care of them for two weeks????

No problem, I already found what I will get you if I don't get positive points:

:scared1: <Backs oh so slowly away>

You fight dirty! Shoulda known. It goes with your mind.

You seem so sure... Ah. Got it. It was you.
Just one question.
Do you habitually engage in peeping tom activities or is it just an occasional dalliance?

I would love to say I was very busy and that's why I haven't posted yet...but I wasn't...maybe I was just taking time to think of answers to your quiz questions. Yeah! That's it!

Sure. Let's go with that.
I believe you... :rolleyes1

I think you went on Spaceship earth, saw Illuminations and the bus was waiting for you when you got there! (wishful thinking but it could have happened)

Check!

Or maybe the guy who thought he recognized you came back to apologize and offered to drive you back to your resort? lol

"Hey! I don't know you!"
"That's okay. I don't know you either."
"Well, do you want a ride?"
"Sure. I'm going to ASMu."
"Hop in."

Loved reading about your dive.

Thanks! It was a ton of fun! :goodvibes

I can't swim (almost drowned a few times myself, including during a swimming lesson :( )

So..... lesson learned?
Stay out of the water.

so I have a lot of respect for you getting certified to dive!

Thanks again! :)
(I've also had two minor incidents while diving...
Minor, so I didn't include them.)

Hi I don't believe I've ever tagged along on one of your adventures yet,but better late than never right?
I love the pic.let's be honest subtle is as Scuttle would say "very boring"
Since you've already stated that you're a fellow Canadian then it couldn't be your 21st birthday so I figured it must be your 19th WOOHOOO no wonder theeres a slushie on your list of musts!!!
Please when you figure out that whole teleporting thing be sure and let me know
Nope sorry you're wrong there is at least one Canadian here who believes theres not only no such thing as enough snow but also no such thing as too much snow.
Oh haha that dictionary would have my pic on the cover for sure I am the queen of Eh!
Oops I retract my second to last statement you are not wrong about the snow just mostly incorrect :D
Prime Time has good chicken it's true ,however the potroast is fantastic.
Nothing like a good Dismeet eh?I mean i've always enjoyed my trips (or at least tried to) but not in the same way that comes with sharing the pixiedust with others of our kind.
AWWWWW I love Small World!
Okay I re-like you you've redeemed yourself by riding POTC
Your pics of FOF parade are so bright and colourful and quite honestly the nicest i've seen to date!! Some people cry at Fireworks or the castle but this ...this is what gets me every time.
I had more comments but all I keep going back to is Jack Sparrow!! ( and since you mentioned Universal references, please allow me) INSERT HOMER DROOL HERE

The fifth book had lots of pictures of Spanish gold
and gold and jewel encrusted relics.
All recovered by.... as you probably surmised...
MERMAIDS of course! ::yes:: I'm sure that was what you were going to say! :snooty:
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
It was my favourite movie for a long time.
Submarines! Underwater adventures! Wow!
I read the book when little, and really liked the movie too!
So now we have a very young little ponzi, with his mask on,
standing at the water's edge.
Awwwwww :-)
And that's how we got to today's update with yours truly
sinking below the waves (ripples, actually) to the circling sharks.
Nopers. Nope. The first time I read this I had to stop a sec. and mentally prepare for the S. H. A. R. K.s. :faint:
They really do circle.
They have to.
It's a circular aquarium.
If they didn't, they'd eventually wind up with their noses pressed up somewhere.
No! Not pressed up there! Get your collective minds out of the gutter!
:thumbsup2
Melissa said that the dolphins were territorial
and it was best just to keep our distance.
dangerous creatures indeed
Yes, I'm sure that if a shark wandered over and I stuck my arm into its mouth,
it might result in some unfortunate nibbling.
Oh just a taste...
I didn't really plan on testing that out.
Good plan!
I'm sure I'd read somewhere that people were told not to touch the fish,
but I don't remember Melissa saying that.
She might have. I just don't remember it.
I wasn't planning on grabbing Dory anyway.
That sounds like, but isn't, a euphemism for something naughty.
at least not in front of the children! *giggles*
And it was freaking amazing!
The official visibility in the Living Seas is listed at 200 feet.
And with my prescription mask.... I could see...
Everything!
Mind. Blown.
200.gif

Which is to say, I forgot all about the sharks.
It was just another pool, right?
Bigger, but still just a pool, right?
No no no shark pool is not a normal pool!
I was having fun!

Dive2_zpskspynlq0.jpg
Great photo and video!
And pretty much right away came up on my first shark.
They were kind of hard to avoid, since they're always swimming around.
200.gif

But a miracle happened.
The shark swam by, oh about 10 feet in front of me.
And it didn't even bother me.
Eep!
Now the video that we'd be given later showed us this kind of shark:

Dive4_zpsvoefksox.jpg

Which looks scary... but is essentially just a big puppy dog.

I was so upset!
There was this big, beautiful turtle,
unmoving, nose down in the gravel.
I looked around to see if I could spot Gordon or the cameraman.
And as I looked to my right....
There was another turtle.
In exactly the same pose, but on the other side of the tank.

Oh.

Okay. I will admit to breathing a sigh of relief and gratitude.

Shhhh..... The turtles are sleeping.
They were tuckered out from being up all night disco dancing!
200.gif

Apparently there's another (smaller) one inside the coral that I went through,
but I never saw it... or even looked for it.
I forgot.
I was preoccupied with breathing,
following directions and not being taken for a hors d'oeuvre.
You know. Like by that shark that's right in front of me?
200.gif

Does anyone remember how I went on (and on... and on... and on...)
about wanting to spread some pixie dust?
And my frustration at being thwarted at every turn?
::yes::
But I probably spent most (oh, about 85-90%) of my time...

Interacting with children.

:goodvibes

It was So. Much. Fun!!!
200.gif

But there was an elderly couple who were having dinner,
right by the window.
I swam by... stopped... the woman looked up... and almost jumped out of her seat!
:rotfl2:
There were always little kids, at the tables a little farther back, waving like crazy.
I tried to make sure I waved back at all of them.

Who knows? Maybe I inspired some little boy or girl to try scuba for themselves.
If I can instill a sense of adventure in some child, I can be happy with that thought.
I'll bet you made a lasting impression and gave a bunch of people a new goal!
I'd place my hand on one side of the glass and almost always,
the child would place his or her hand opposite mine.
This is so sweet!
I was finally doing it... I was finally spreading pixie dust.
I hardly noticed the fish. I forgot the turtles.
I was having the time of my life.
:goodvibes
So I swam underneath this guy:

Dive7_zpshjcx8gde.jpg

And released some bubbles under his wings.
It didn't faze him a bit
and he continued to soar nonchalantly a couple of feet above me.
Suddenly I realized...
"I'm swimming two feet underneath a freaking stingray!!!!
And blowing bubbles at it!!!!"
How much cooler can you get?
You can't!!!
That rocks! Bravo you!
(except when I'm in our pool.... yes we have one... because I hate water.
But Ruby wanted one. So....)
I'll be right up!
200.gif

Oooooo.....we're going to "work something out" if I win?!?!? I told you that you would have to come back to Cleveland. :stitch:

Yes, I'm watching two large dogs and I'm allergic. I will be investing in some Zyrtec D for when I'm there. We just got back from their house for a picnic. They have an awesome house-----with a hot tub! And central air!

Hi I don't believe I've ever tagged along on one of your adventures yet,but better late than never right?

Hi back atcha!

I've seen you on a few other reports, but no, you haven't popped on one of mine before.

So, let's see... there's something I'm forgetting...

Ah!

:welcome: to the TR!

So I see you're referring to a bunch of stuff in the following quotes,
so I'll try and do my best to figure out just what the heck you're talking about!

I love the pic.let's be honest subtle is as Scuttle would say "very boring"

Thanks! I'm going to assume you mean the one of me on RNR?

Since you've already stated that you're a fellow Canadian then it couldn't be your 21st birthday so I figured it must be your 19th WOOHOOO no wonder theeres a slushie on your list of musts!!!

Yes! That's absolutely right!

Actually, I don't think I want to go back as far as 19.
I was way too dumb back then. I'd probably wind up killing myself.

Probably by drowning while doing something completely stupid and guy like.

Wait, that's redundant.

Please when you figure out that whole teleporting thing be sure and let me know

Done!

Please send $5 and a SASE for instructions.

Nope sorry you're wrong there is at least one Canadian here who believes theres not only no such thing as enough snow but also no such thing as too much snow.

:sad2:

You wouldn't happen to live in BC or southern Ontario, would you?

Oh haha that dictionary would have my pic on the cover for sure I am the queen of Eh!

 Yes, I saw that on your profile description of where you're from.

Oops I retract my second to last statement you are not wrong about the snow just mostly incorrect :D

Oh, okay...

Nope. You're still wrong.
When you've seen it snow in July and been excited about it, call me.

Prime Time has good chicken it's true ,however the potroast is fantastic.

Now you tell me!!

Guess I'll just have to go back and try it, right? :rolleyes1

Nothing like a good Dismeet eh?I mean i've always enjoyed my trips (or at least tried to) but not in the same way that comes with sharing the pixiedust with others of our kind.

Hmmm.... I'm not too sure which way you mean that.
Do you mean you have a full schedule with ADRs and FP+
and don't want to get bogged down in a DISmeet?
Or do you mean you feel uncomfortable with meeting people you've never met before?
(BTW, that's okay. It's not everyone's cup of tea.)
Or do you mean that you'd like to, just never had the chance yet.

Enquiring minds... well mind, wants to know.

AWWWWW I love Small World!

Gack!

That's okay. I get it. I really do.
For some people, it brings back fond childhood memories.
For others, it's a nice slice of classic Disney.
For others, it's a whole raft of other reasons.

I don't begrudge people who like IASW.

JUST DON'T MAKE ME GO ANYWHERE NEAR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay I re-like you you've redeemed yourself by riding POTC

Phew! Close call!
"Remember cheekypoppins? She popped in for a bit, got so ticked at me that we never saw her again."

Your pics of FOF parade are so bright and colourful and quite honestly the nicest i've seen to date!!

Thanks! That's quite the compliment! :goodvibes

Some people cry at Fireworks or the castle but this ...this is what gets me every time.

Awww.... I never cry.
Certainly not at parades.

And Wishes has those darned sliced onions.... but that's not crying.

Nope.

(Desperately clutches at fleeting hopes of recovering his man card.)

I had more comments but all I keep going back to is Jack Sparrow!! ( and since you mentioned Universal references, please allow me) INSERT HOMER DROOL HERE

I get it. He's got lots of gold, right?
Sure. That's it.

Again, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the rest of the TR! :)

MERMAIDS of course! ::yes:: I'm sure that was what you were going to say! :snooty:

I'll be honest with you Rebecca.
I am very annoyed right now.

At myself.

I really, really, really should have said mermaids.
Perfect opportunity, but nooooooo....

So annoyed...
and disappointed.

I read the book when little, and really liked the movie too!

Is it on your endless list of Disney movies to watch?
Or is it just animations?

Nope. Not really.
I was a goofy looking kid.

Not like now.

Now I'm a goofy looking old dude.

Nopers. Nope. The first time I read this I had to stop a sec. and mentally prepare for the S. H. A. R. K.s. :faint:

Surely a mermaid can outrun some ol' sharks?

dangerous creatures indeed

Yep. They is.

Oh just a taste...

Sorry, Brucie. Go get some take out. I'm not for sale.

at least not in front of the children! *giggles*

:rolleyes1

Great photo and video!

Thanks, but I can't really take credit.

I keep looking at that.
Dan Aykroyd? On SNL?

They were tuckered out from being up all night disco dancing!
200.gif

 Yeah, that was probably it.

I'll bet you made a lasting impression and gave a bunch of people a new goal!

I'd like to think so! :)

This is so sweet!

All those kids with their huge grins! They were experiencing Disney Magic...
and I made it happen! :goodvibes

That rocks! Bravo you!

It was so cool!

I'll be right up!
200.gif

I'd love that! :goodvibes
We're only a short 20+ hour drive away!

Oooooo.....we're going to "work something out" if I win?!?!? I told you that you would have to come back to Cleveland. :stitch:

Welll.... I dunno... I suppose anything's possible at this point.
Hmmmm.... that would be fun to personally deliver the goods.

Yes, I'm watching two large dogs and I'm allergic.

Oy. :sad2:
You're either a really good friend, or....
Well, let's just leave it at that, shall we?

I will be investing in some Zyrtec D for when I'm there.

Don't know if I know about that one.
Sounds impressive though.

We just got back from their house for a picnic. They have an awesome house-----with a hot tub! And central air!

Ah! So there's a silver lining to your allergen cloud.

oh my ok I was way off in my explanation i think because you thought the opposite of what I was trying to convey lol Anyhoo.... I love meeting Disney friends I find it makes me trips now extra magical :D

and yes southern Ontario and I have not seen snow in July but I have seen it in June n loved it so much :D

Awww, Ponzi, I LOVE the story about your childhood books and ensuing fascination with the undersea world. It also explains your fascination with mermaids  It now makes so much more sense why you don't shudder at the thought of scuba diving! Plus Disney changes a lot of things for us, doesn't it?!

Wow! What an incredible, amazing experience you must have had!!! However, I'm not so sure I would have been as able to forget about the sharks as you were...

Oh my goodness, I nearly cried at the video of you with the child touching hands. Pixie dust spreading? CHECK.

You mean to tell me you have a shadow just like Peter Pan?! :thumbsup2

Okay, my responses:
1) Spaceship Earth
2) Fantasmic
3) 22 minutes

Hmmm.... Sounds like some pretty interesting dives, so maybe not.
I guess it depends on if he wants to dive with a plethora of fish or not.
Do let me know. I'm curious.

I will! (PM me the deets on price. Maybe I can set up a surprise for him....)

I like that! That's a pretty good compliment!

I try.

Except none of them will have a clue who Jacques Cousteau was.

Fine. I should have said "the next Cousteauesque diver/explorer". That way it wouldn't really matter if they knew who he was or not. Savvy?

Hmmm.... never thought about awarding myself points.
I could win this contest in a heartbeat!

But then you'd end up with a shirt that didn't fit.

That shirt is going for $20 on ebay. Maybe I will take it if I win!!!

I may never eat Taco Bell again. I had a mexican pizza last night and I'm still sick!
