WDW Wishes 2015 Wedding

Within the last couple of weeks, I have been looking into both of my Mom's dresses. I want something floor length, but I'm still not sure what color I want them to wear. I will have to figure that out soon since we are going shopping for my DF's mom dress next week. lol Here are some updates on other things I have been working on:

Floral
I'm looking to have a red garden rose bouquet with some scattered stephanotis petals and white lilies, but decided against the garden roses because my DF said they looked diseased and like they were dying. . .lol I thought it was hilarious since they have quite a bit of a mark-up. I even got an estimate from Disney Floral.

Bridal Bouquet: $420 and with standard roses it would be $350. I'm thinking of using an outside floral for my personal floral because I notice that Disney's prices are double than the other florists. But, then I think about the convenience.
Bridesmaids Bouquet: White garden roses: $150 and with standard roses: $115

Candy Bar
I asked for some pricing on if I decided to do a candy bar and Sarah from floral was awesome and did some research at got back to me within a couple of days. This is the estimate she gave me for our party of 50:

Skittles- $18.50+
Salt Water Taffy- $14.25+
Haribo Gummy Bears- $28.00+
Pixie Stix- $14.00+
Jelly Bellys- $43.00+
Gumballs- $20.00+
Blue Licorice (I am only able to get this in via a large order- 12 pounds!) $69.00+

Delivery- $40.00

Assorted Candy Jars- $15.00+ each/rental
Scoops/Tongs- $5.00+ each/rental
50 White Take Out Boxes- $50.00+
Candy Bar Signs- $5.75+/each

Cake
I found this dragon castle cake on disneyweddings.com and loved it so much that I have been looking at for a couple of months. I wasn't sure how much it costs, but just got an update from my wedding planner Pamela and her assistant Courtney (who btw are AWESOME!!!) today that they heard back from the bakery. The cake is $3,250!!!:sad2: But, because it is a part of our F&B minimum we can do it! :dancer: When I say I am SUPER EXCITED!!! This is a phenomenal cake. It has nothing to do with our theme, but my DF keeps telling me that it doesn't have to, but it's all a part of the fantasy of Disney!!! :) Here is the cake below:

That's all for now. Our planning session is in a couple of weeks so I probably won't have many updates before then.

Welcome Lunch
I forgot to mention yesterday that we secured our Welcome Lunch at Ariel's and my wedding planner was able to get special approval to do a plated meal instead of buffet so I was very happy because my DF loves steak. :)

Bridal Dressing Room
Also, we secured a ballroom at the Contemporary for the women of the bridal party including my Mom's to get our hair and make-up done. We have to spend $500 on F&B, so there will be a lot of food for the 8 of us at 2 or 3am. lol

Sorry for not including it in yesterday's post. :)

Holy smokes at the cake! It is expensive, but it looks amazing. :) You will love having your welcome lunch at Ariel's. It's such a great venue!

Yes. . . the cake is definitely expensive. I wasn't sure if I was going to post the price, but I find that it helps me when people post prices so I did. . .lol Since our minimum is $125 pp we were trying to add things to our buffet breakfast to make it. The cake definitely eats a lot of it up and so now we don't have to add additional items to make our minimum. lol The two top tiers will be faux because we don't need that much cake, but I AM SUPER EXCITED to see this thing in person. . . !!!

Yes, Ariel's is so pretty, but we had to rule it out due to it being buffet only. I really wanted a plated meal since we can't have one for our reception and with steak (my DF's favorite). I appreciate that my wedding planner called and got an exception for us. :) I saw your pictures at Ariel's and I love how you set up the long tables. Did you guys hear any noise from the character dining or did it feel private and intimate?

We didn't hear any noise from Cape May at all! It felt private and intimate. The only thing is that I kind of wish they would have closed the little gates once everyone had arrived. There were just a couple of random people who peeked their heads inside, but it wasn't anything major. They were probably just curious about what the space was. I'm sure they would have closed them had I asked, but it didn't bother me that much.

I love that cake! I actually did something similar based off of a different dragon cake for my wedding cake class at school!

He looks a little different, but the material he was made out of (half fondant, half gum paste) was hardening very quickly and I had to get him on the cake. It still came out pretty cool! The scales were done just by using a pair of cuticle scissors to make little snips in the 50/50, and his wings are made of pastillage (which dries very hard). I'm a pastry cook and love doing cake decorating, but I'm not currently allowed to do much decorating at my work.

I think one of Wilton's classes does tiered cakes, but I'm not sure. I know Craftsy.com has a whole bunch of online cake decorating classes. Most of them are paid, but some are free.

Thank you! I really loved how it came out. But yeah, the Wilton classes are a pretty good option for people who don't want to go the full route of pastry school and just want to know how to do things they can't teach themselves.

Here are a few updates on what is going on:

Planning Session

So, we had our planning session over the phone 2 weeks ago and it was about 3 hours. Since we could not do a menu tasting, we didn't see the point of going down for the planning session. I sent Pamela a Powerpoint presentation of all of my ideas (I tried to upload it here, but I couldn't). Here are the takeaways from our planning session:

Rehearsal
-Day before wedding at 11am at the Yacht Club ballroom
Welcome Lunch
-Right after the rehearsal at Ariels for two hours. We said roman style tables with a sweetheart table for me and my DF between them so that no one table would feel left out. We also talked about adding videography because people will be giving speeches. But, I think we will go back to round tables and keep the sweetheart table. I guess I have to figure out what I want. . .lol
Wedding Day Schedule
Ceremony
-DF ready by 5:30am and Limousine picks him and groomsmen and immediate family to take to MK for pictures.
-Getting ready pictures for me start at 5:00am and leave with bridesmaids and immediate family for pictures at MK by 6:00am.
-DF and I are not doing a first look because DF wants to see me for the first time walking down the aisle. . .awwwww. . . (I wanted the first look just so we could get more pictures in the MK before the ceremony. lol)
-Ceremony to start at 7:30am
Reception
-Cocktail hour starts at 8:30 and the string trio or harp (not sure which one I'm going to decide on, but I think the harp) will play throughout.
-DF and I will only be announced since the bridal part would already be at the reception before us.
-DJ: We requested Charles because Pamela thought he would be better for our party.
-This is our current menu:

Alright, we sent our invitations out last Thursday and ready to get our first response! Outside of that, here is my todo list for July:

-Order Welcome bags

-Buy embroidered handkerchiefs
-Order Groom, groomsman and father's suits
-Buy Veil
-Buy my Mom’s dress and shoes (already purchased DF's mom's dress and shoes)
-Buy Tables in Wonderland
-Honeymoon
We are waiting on both BEO's and so that's all for now. :)

That's a lot of progress! :) It's a good feeling, isn't it? Now comes the waiting for the BEO... which can be nerve-wracking. LOL

If it helps in your decisions, here are a few things as I read: we had roman tables in Ariel's and each sat at one, and I think it looked very nice and no one table was left out. I have the rest of my life to sit with my husband, so it wasn't too bad. Haha. As for the DP, there was a CM who scooped out the ice cream for us. Then we added our own toppings. I suppose someone could get chocolate sauce on themselves, but that didn't happen with us at least. Make sure they have the queso listed for your nacho bar (it should be included, but just in case). Everyone raved about that! :)

Yes, I got the idea of the roman tables from your pj. . .lol The only problem is that we have quite a few people who requested to give speeches to us and I thought it would be weird to be seated a part when they are giving a speech to us. . .lol

I'm so happy you said that. . .I imagined everyone scooping out their own ice cream and peoples hands and fingers all in the ice cream. . .Yuck, Yuck, Yuck. . .lol

Thank you, I will make sure they have the queso. . .I LOVE nachos. . .lol

I still have to get caught up on the rest of your pj, but everything is looking amazing on your day! :)

WOW! This sounds amazing! It's so cool that you are doing it in MK! And you're getting married only a few weeks before we are! :)

We are super excited!!! It's earlier than we wanted, but that's the date that got approved and so here we are. . .lol That's why I said to you to have your day. We got push back about how early it is and why it's in the middle of the week and we can only invite 50 people (us included). lol But, at the end of the day, it's about our love and so since we are only going to do this once, let's do it our way and be happy about it and have no regrets! :)

MK and that cake! WOW! It'll be so neat that every time you come back to the MK you visit that spot with the gorgeous view of the castle. Did they offer any other color compositions for the dragon or silhouette?

I'm super excited about the ceremony and the cake! You are right. . . I really didn't think about visiting the train station to relive the moment, but now I am. . . lol
Yes, you can have a completely custom cake. I saw this cake on disneyweddings.com and just wanted them to replicate exactly the way it was. Pamela told me that they can change the colors and everything. But, I fell in love with the cake just the way it was.

So, I got my floral BEO, but plan on changing a few things. We are starting to get our RSVP's back from people and may have to move to the Napa room because as our guest list becomes smaller, so far under 40 (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this, but I'm happy fewer people are coming because it gives us more time with each person and makes it more intimate) and we still have to meet California Grill's $4,000 main dining room minimum in addition to our minimum with Disney. So, I asked Pamela and Courtney to let us know if Napa room is available in the event we switch, which I'm thinking we may do. She sent us some pictures of the Napa room that I thought you guys would enjoy. I love this one because I do love the roman tables. I'm definitely going to need to know how much those drapes would cost. . .lol

Back to the floral. . . The picture below is of the centerpiece I asked for: Only the one in the middle (lower centerpiece) as it is and the cost they quoted was $125 plus $15 for the bowl it is in for a total of $140 for each of them, but with an antique gold footed bowl.

Here are a few of the items from the BEO that I thought you guys would like to know the cost of:
-True Hand-tied Baby's breath bridesmaid bouquet with a gold ribbon and finished with a bow with the ribbon: $85 (Inbloom florist will do these for only $30 a piece)

-Bridal Bouquet: Textured round of White Hydrangea, Ivory Double Lisianthus, Ivory Roses, Peach Oceana Roses, Soft Orange Roses and White Stock with accents of Baby's breath and Light Blue Delphinium. Accent bouquet with 10 Single Swarovski Crystals: $287.50

-Loose sprigs of Baby's breath for my hair: $5.00

-Gold votive candles: $3.50 each

-7lbs of Peanut M&Ms: $56.50

That is all for now. :)
