Republic Wireless or WalMart Family Share?

Does anybody use either of these? We are looking to bring down our crazy Verizon bill! If I am using the WalMart plan we can use existing phones or buy no contract ones and hook them up. Amazon has Nokia Lumina 635 phones for $50 and these would seem to suit our needs. With Republic we would have to buy phone directly from them which would be a little bit more but still a big savings over Verizon. Thoughts?

Wal-Mart Family share use the t-mobile network. I would check total wireless through Wal-mart. It runs on the Verizon network and has a family plan. Also tracfone smartphones runs on the Verizon network too. My kids all have tracfone smartphones that go through Verizon network and they get great reception.

I have never heard of revolution wireless.

Here good resource for check howardfourms.com they have awesome information on networks and phones.

I don't know much about either of those but I have to try them out, just bought a cheap model phone of straight talk or trac phone to see if the network will work for me. I tried straight talks unlimited and I just couldn't get it to work, I ended up going back to C-spire wireless for $40 unlimited talk/text and 2G data. Point being 8yrs ago T-mobile and AT&T both worked great around my home and where I travel weekly but last year I couldn't get either network to work to my satisfaction and I'm pretty sure they've lost towers or something because I remember them working better than they did this time.

I switched from Verizon to Walmart family plan at the beginning of the year, I had four people on my account and went down to three. Now I live out in the boondocks so my experience might not be the same as yours but the reception isn't always the greatest and there is a lot of times when there is nothing I'm talking like way out away from cities and people so if that is your physical situation its definitely something to take into consideration.

That being said most of the time like 90% everything is great, we took two iphones with us and had to buy one cheap replacement and have been happy with our service especially when the bill comes, with four people we were at almost $300.00 now its just $98.00 a month with three, every month when I get my bill I could care less about a few minutes without gps on some Georgia back road.

The cool thing with the Walmart plan is its just month to month so if I decide to change at the end of the month I just can. We weren't able to take our numbers with us (most should be able to though) but I just ported mine to Google voice and have it coming to my phone along with the new number and I've been really happy with that setup. (oh and you can check on their site to see if you can take your number with you before you buy into the plan) The other cool thing is if you see your going to go over your data you buy extra at what I feel is a really cheap rate, and it stays there in your account for whenever you need it you don't loose the extra at the end of the month. That's handy for say going on vacation and you want to use your phone to stream to a tablet. But to be honest I put $10.00 in have yet to use all of it there is so much wifi everywhere.

Hope my experience helps you make a decision.
Sandy

Thanks! Everyone and Sandy I hadn't heard from anyone who had the WalMart plan so that helps a lot. We live in a very suburban area (near Raleigh airport) but my kid's do go to a charter school that is about 25 minutes away so the service there might not be as great as it is more rural. Something to keep in mind. Appreciate it.

I use Straight Talk which I like. My phone uses AT&T's network. I may switch over to Cricket Wireless next year--it probably will be about $100/year cheaper for similar service.
