Celebrating at POFQ/AKL in September 2015! COMPLETE

Now I know why my ears were burning. :duck:

Looking forward to all the details. I want to see how someone else does their planning. I know how I do mine.

Ha! I kind of wish we could "tag" people here like on facebook! Happy to have you here and definitely chime in with any tips you have!

And I totally just messed up quoting you - oops! Still learning here everyone - bear with me!

So, as I mentioned in my first post, we have decided to stay at Port Orleans Riverside! I know there are both Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend buildings at the resort and I think we'd prefer the atmosphere and room decor of the Alligator Bayou rooms. I love the more rustic appearance of these rooms and the "wild" landscaping and streams that it looks like surround these areas of the resort!

I know we won't be guaranteed to get our room request but it's worth a shot! Have any of you stayed in the Alligator Bayou section before and if so what did you think of it?

Which are the ones referred to as the mansions?

I haven't stayed there (YET!) but I'm not into the whole rustic thing at all, so I'm happy that if I switch to POR that all of the Royal rooms are in Magnolia Bend, myself. However! I happen to know that @Chicago Mo is a big fan of the Alligator Bayou area, so maybe she'll weigh in here. Mo? ;)

Those are the Magnolia Bend rooms. :cutie:

The Royal rooms look really cool! I'm into camping and all that so I don't mind the rustic feel - one of our favorite deluxe resorts is the WL. :)

I didn't know we could tag people here - cool! I know that if you have 5 people in your party you're guaranteed an AB room since they're the only ones with the small third bed (forget what it's called) but since we'll only have three people we'll have to just make the request and cross our fingers. Maybe it'll help that we're going in early September when it's less crowded.

From what I understand, the closest you can get to ensuring an AB room is to book a "preferred location." They are closes to the main building, and ALL AB.

I can't remember if I've said "hi" here yet...but I'm here and loving reading about your plans!

Yeah, I have heard that too but was hoping to get a room in that section without having to pay extra for a preferred room. Actually, I'm not even sure there are preferred rooms available for my dates anymore, I'd need to double check that. I will probably check with my parents to see if they'd like to do one of these to reduce our walking time. My mom has to use a wheelchair in the parks usually since she has had plantar fasciatis (not sure I spelled that right) for years now and her feet just can't take that many hours of walking or standing.

Okay... I'm going to attempt to post my spreadsheet here...

Our plans will likely change a bit I'm sure and we'd still like to get some ADR's for different times. I finally found a BOG dinner reservation for 4:15pm but would rather have a later reservation on the following evening. I'm guessing park hours might change a bit too between now and September but here is what we have so far!

I really like all of your ADRs, I think I've eaten at all of them, some of course for different meals. I have to say T-Rex was a surprise for me, I actually enjoyed the food, I honestly only initially went because my nephew loves dinosaurs. I also wasn't sure how I'd feel about Boma as I'm not an adventurous eater, but we had a dinner & breakfast there & I really enjoyed it.

Which ADRs are you most looking forward to?

Thanks! A lot of our choices are old favorites like the Crystal Palace, Boma, 'Ohana, and Le Cellier but we have some new ones thrown in as well like the Kona Cafe, BOG, and T-Rex. My dad wanted to try T-Rex - I don't remember ever seeing it in DTD before so it must be new since our last trip in 2010?

Also, I just snagged a lunch reservation at BOG for Friday the 11th and was then able to get a later reservation for dinner at Le Cellier. Now I'd like to move the Kona Cafe breakfast to an earlier time or just do it a different morning since I think our meals on Friday will be too close together. We were aiming for just two table service meals per day mostly but on some days we went over this. There are just too many good places we want to go - eating in WDW is a big part of the fun!!

I am most looking forward to BOG (which is why I got and ADR for lunch and another for dinner) woohoo!! The atmosphere looks too cool and I've heard good reviews on the food too! Other than that, I'm looking forward to our breakfast at 'Ohana (ever since I read Elevationist's trip report and saw her yummy breakfast pics!) and pretty much every other meal - ha! :hyper:

On a side note, this is why I have a weight loss goal before our trip - need to make room for all the good food!

Random thoughts on the places I've eaten that you booked:

Breakfast:
Crystal Palace- love Winnie the Pooh, he is very wise. Also the kids puffed French toast on the kids bar is yum
Boma- Delicious, a fan of the juice here

Lunch:
BOG- loved this!! The pork roast with veggies is awesome
Le Cellier- same as dinner menu, big fan of the mushroom risotto

Dinner:
Ohana- yum, my favs are the pot stickers, noodles & salad, the meats just ok to me, lol
Boma- so many good options to choose
T-Rex- large portions, good food, cool atmosphere. I think we ordered an appetizer & it was too much to have with dinner
Kona Cafe- just ok, I had the terriaki steak, wasn't that good. Loved the lapu lapu drink in the pineapple
Grand Floridian Cafe- love the seasonal salad, perfect dinner salad. The dessert sampler is awesome to split!
Biergarten- good food & great show

I think my favs are BOG lunch, Yachtman, Ohana

We love the Crystal Palace and go there for breakfast pretty much every trip. I LOVE the kids puffed french toast too!!

That's great to hear - I can't wait to try lunch and dinner at BOG!

Le Cellier- same as dinner menu, big fan of the mushroom risotto

This restaurant is one of my dad's favorites and we love the atmosphere inside. We actually recreated a meal and the theme when we got home from a trip one time - ha!

Ohana- yum, my favs are the pot stickers, noodles & salad, the meats just ok to me, lol

This is another "must do" on our trips for dinner but we've never had breakfast there so I'm looking forward to both!

Boma- so many good options to choose

Yep, we love Boma for breakfast and dinner. We also really liked Sanaa last time and the views were awesome with giraffes right outside the windows. Maybe we'll add it in for our 2017 trip!

T-Rex- large portions, good food, cool atmosphere. I think we ordered an appetizer & it was too much to have with dinner

We really like the Rainforest Cafe so we're looking forward to checking this one out!

Kona Cafe- just ok, I had the terriaki steak, wasn't that good. Loved the lapu lapu drink in the pineapple

We're doing a breakfast here I think and mostly because I thought my mom would like to try the Tonga Toast. We've never been here and it may get dropped since our meals that day are looking a bit too close together. We'll see!

Grand Floridian Cafe- love the seasonal salad, perfect dinner salad. The dessert sampler is awesome to split!

My mom wanted to eat here - it's a little frou frou for me but I'm fine with it! :rotfl:

Biergarten- good food & great show

This is one I could definitely do without but my parents both love it. I like the show but I just don't really enjoy most of the food.

I think my favs are BOG lunch, Yachtman, Ohana

We've never tried the Yachtsman - I'm not big on steak though... I know, I'm picky! :teeth:
