FP+ testing starts in Disneyland around August 2015

Am i the only one kinda excited about this? I would love just having a band instead of having my room card, and money on me, especially at the pools. As the designated fp runner for our family, it would be nice not to run myself ragged across the parks and exhausting myself. I would have to think that if it did come to DL that it would be a slightly different version than DW, in order to cater to the different clientele.

I can definitely see the advantage at the pools. But there have been so many instances of the system being down that it would be unwise to go without bringing your backup forms of payment anyway.

And I can see the advantage to the FP runner of the group for the first 3 fastpasses. But if you are a family who uses more than 3 in a day, the running won't stop since you have to go to a FP kiosk to get them one at a time after those first 3. And you won't know if you like the options until after you wait in line. And in WDW at least there are fewer kiosks than there used to be FP machines, so you will likely have to look harder to find one to use.

Being a WDW vet (and doing FP+ and MB since the initial testing) and having just returned from DL. I have to say I missed FP +. I much prefer pre-booking. It fits very well with my touring style. (I'm childless and I'm a planner and I am not the type who's vacation is ruined if I skip something).

That being said I stayed offsite which means I would have less FP+ booking window, and I wouldn't have a MB (although I own a number of them and I'm pretty sure if they integrate the MDE to DLR I'll be able to attach my tickets to my bands since WDW has that capability) but even with only a 30 day window I'm pretty sure I'd still prefer FP+.

Would you care if you were unable to get an RSR FP when your booking window opened?

We come from half way across the country and that would definitely be a disappointment to us.

I am a WDW vet and I really hope this article is bogus. I hate FP+, and this is coming from a Type A personality.

FP+ really limits our ride capabilities. Lines ARE longer. I can't stand only 3 a day at only 1 park to start. We easily used 4-5 with our old touring style. Yes, you can use more later, but good luck getting anything good. Captain EO isn't what I consider a FP+ score. :sad2: And it really limits park hopping capabilities.

Well, at least we are going to DL in late June. Hope it is not our last hurrah to the old FP system we know and love.

Ditto to everthing you posted! We are going in late June as well. It could be our last DL trip. One of the reasons we switched from WDW to DLR was the FP issue. Now we will just stay away from both.

But that happens everday with regular fastpass for RSR for those poor souls who don't know that they need to grab one within the first couple hours of opening. It really isn't any different. I guess i don't know why everyone is getting all up in arms about this when we
A: don't even know this rumour is true, and
B: haven't even seen how fastpass will be implemented at disneyland. Maybe only certain elements will be used here, maybe it will be different from WDW and actually be a huge benefit for disneyland folks.

The article IS BOGUS! The Los Angeles Times just reported this week that FP+ is NOT COMING TO DISNEYLAND!

seriously, there is no need to panic.

The LA Times article said that MagicBands aren't coming to DLR. MagicBands and FP+ are not synonymous. They don't need to use MBs to implement FP+ (RFID cards can use the technology as well)

Agreed, I'm still hoping it won't happen, and that if it does it won't be like what they have done at WDW.

But anything they do to remove the blank slate that exists every day at DLR right now with regard to FP is a step in the wrong direction in my book.

I know that on any given day if I want to ride RSR with a FP I can make that happen. If a newbie shows up and the FPs are gone, they learn their lesson and can show up early the next day and get a FP. Once prebooking starts, that clean slate is gone in the morning and takes away your chance to adjust on the fly.

I don't think the MB's are coming to DLR, per Tom Staggs. I never ran myself ragged getting FP's at either WDW or DLR. I've been to WDW twice since FP+ was implemented and I have felt over scheduled, the spontaneity was gone from the day since I could switch parks without losing FP+ , and our family experienced a lot less.

I hope FP+ never comes to DLR, I love standing between DCA and DLR and making a spur of the monent decision about what park to visit. Also, with Legacy FP, I can have FP's for both parks at the same time. I guess it's all about what's improtant to you and your family.

I still don't think there's reason to panic.

There is no way they could reconfigure many of the rides to have a separate queue. The rides are packed in at Disneyland and there is barely enough room for the existing queues much less a second one.

You be surprised. At one point attractions like Pirates at Disneyland use to have Fastpass, then they realized the attraction didn't need one. Similar to the Haunted Mansion, but they kept that one around for the Holiday overlay.

Also keep in mind that the Peter Pan refurb recently got delayed at the last minute. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some of those FP+ changes to the queue effect this attraction first.

Peter Pan is a good example. The existing queue doesn't fit and bulges out into the main pathway. How would squeeze in a Fastpass queue without making the situation worse?

There have never been very many FP attractions at DL. Part of the reason is that they aren't needed but another reason is that having too many fastpass attractions pulls more people out of the queues and into the already overcrowded walkways. That's especially a problem at DL, which has very narrow pathways in some areas.
