My 9yr old's first flight..worried about sitting together SWA

We will be flying from Nashville to Orlando in April of next year. It will be me, my husband, and our 9yr old daughter. It will be her first flight and we are all a little anxious about getting to sit together. I'll purchase Early Bird for both flights, but I worry if that will be good enough. Is there anything more I can do other than purchasing the Business Select fare or just begging someone to trade seats with me if we can't find 2 or 3 seats together? I certainly would rather not pay for the higher business fare just to guarantee seat position.

If you're paying for Early Bird, I wouldn't worry about it at all. It seems definite that she'll be able to sit with at least one of you.

Even if not buying it, with just 3 people, I still wouldn't worry about it. But that's just me. I worry more about my chosen seats being changed on me by the traditional airlines, than walking onto an airplane and not finding ANY seats next to each other.

If your plane originates in Nashville, you should be fine with EBCI. I've had B boarding position and still been able to find 3 seats together, just not right at the front of the plane.

anon is correct - even if you board later, it's just more likely you'll be further back in the plane, but there should be plenty of rows with 3 seats together.

the only problem could be the time of day you are traveling. depending on time and where plane is coming from could mean a number of people staying on board. even so should be able to get 2 seats together even if you do not get all 3.

:flower1:Thanks for the posts. Makes me feel a bit better. I'm glad this board has such awesome people!

We've had high b's with 4 people and still gotten seats together in the back of the plane.

We fly Southwest every year, with 2 kids. Never had a problem since we purchase EBCI. If you purchase EBCI, I would expect that you would be able to sit together. The only exception, would be the one mentioned above about the flight originating somewhere else.

Also, I've seen flight attendants help with seat switches to keep kids with their parents. They do wait until everyone gets settled and seated first, which can make some parents anxious, but they didn't forget!

Ive flown southwest about 10 times, and we've never purchased the Early Bird. My hubby and I have always sat next to each other, even when we've had high number B or even C boarding positions. We usually sit in the back of the plane anyways to be close to the bathroom. And like another poster said, I've seen the flight attendant ask customers to switch seats to keep kids with parents, or keep bigger families with multiple kids together. If you have the Early Bird, I would not stress at all.
