Dessert Party Menu Suggestions

Is any of the set up fee (or like a person manning it) for hosting the BOC Mickey premium bar bundled into that increased 6/bar??? The DPs are so nice and it makes me sad Disneyland doesn't really do anything similar for their shows. However, for whatever reason, Disneyland does not seem to do a wedding mark up to the same extent Disney World does for products that can be purchased in the park based on what we have asked for at this point. Food in general for the wedding seems to be more reasonably priced (my dinner minimum is 125/person), but we don't have "affordable" access to some of the awesome locations Disney World brides do. That being said, YAY you got your menu to the price point you were willing to spend!!! That is super exciting :)

Thanks so much. :)

From what I understand, the BOC ice cream novelties have no additional bells and whistles that justify the price tag. There's a person manning the carts in the park for $4/bar--so why not at the wedding?

Carrie was in here at some point earlier. If she sees this, maybe she'll have insight.

I really like your updated menu, Tiffiny. :) If it helps, when we were talking with our planner at our planning session, she mentioned that the more uncommon/not normally supplied things we kept on the list, the more our DP price would go up. I'll be putting the menu the three of us (Raist, our planner, and I) ended up putting together, but I know we were told that if we just wanted ice cream (with caramel, hot fudge, and strawberry toppings) and cronuts, it'd likely be higher than if we added a couple more common options. So that may be part of why your initial one was so stupidly high.

My dessert party price wasn't particularly cheap ($48 pp) and I have to say-- the things I added? Some of them were... Shall we say.. NOT particularly successful, either.

I asked them to do sticky toffee pudding-- what I got was some weird little loaf things with a drizzle of what I ASSUME was supposed to be toffee sauce and a few dates inside. NOBODY ate them. I tried them, and they were vile. And they brought the price of the dessert party up by $9 per person (at least- might've been more).

Also I asked for mini-pies. My coordinator suggested key lime tarts. I don't like tarts, neither do my parents and it was their anniversary party. I said, "No tarts, please. We don't like them. They like PIE." She said how about mini pies? I said great. I suggested key lime, coconut custard, blueberry, and strawberry rhubarb. What I got was SO NOT ANY OF THAT. They took the tart shells that they use, that I specifically told them I DID NOT want, and filled some of them with the apple crisp I ALSO got! So I essentially had the same stupid dessert. They had some coconut ones and blueberry ones- but I was so angry looking at the apple ones sitting right next to the apple crisp I didn't even see it.

The school bread and Mickey rice crispy treats were delicious, as was the warm apple crisp. But I think about the damn pies and sticky toffee pudding and I get kind of annoyed (especially when I think I could've had churro flambé- or saved money).

All I'm saying is, I would generally not choose things that are strange, or TOO far off their menus. If things are a little weird they're not as successful.

I have not nor am I getting married at WDW. I did have the flambé churros and donuts with ice cream at the Epcot Illuminations sparkling dessert party. They were good but very heavy and rich. I split each with my husband, and we still couldn't finish them. We are big dessert people too. People may not want to eat any other desserts if they had those.

Having been married for more than 15 years, I understand wanting to accommodate everyone. However, it's your wedding and you have to be happy with your choices. You will only be able to please half the people. Plus, you will probably be the only one who remembers the food. Eventually, you may not be able to remember it either.

Good luck everyone. It's supposed to be fun:)

Thanks, Aly! I like it too now. :) We are trying to get it down even more though. I decided to nix the Mickey rice krispy treats. It's not that I don't think anyone would eat them (I now that my groom LOVES them), but one of my "surprises" for my groom at the wedding is a ginormous Mickey head rice krispy "cake" to serve as the groom's cake (he's more into rice krispy treats than he is cake). Reception and DP are the same day...so I was worried he might be rice krispy'd out by the time we got to the DP...and I was concerned about wasting food at both events.

I asked my assistant planner about the groom's cake at the reception, and low and behold, I get to keep the leftovers! I was so excited. Apparently, because it's being provided by the florist, it's one of the few things I get to take back to my room.

I CAN'T take back, however, the rice krispy treats from the dessert party...so the groom's cake will more than be enough. Plus DF gets his leftovers. :) AND it'll make the DP marginally cheaper (marginally).

I am so sorry to hear that. :( Did you talk to them or complain? I am really, really surprised that they made you pay that much and DIDN'T give you what you wanted.

Thank you so much for your feedback on them. You're the second person who has commented that they're very heavy. Carrie said you could taste the alcohol too much, as well...which is not what I want. So, if i'ts really just the show and nothing else will get eaten, I will say forget about it. I would rather all the little things get eaten (and I imagine they will).

Don't worry though--I'll enjoy it. :) The one major thing I wanted was the banana cream parfaits, which I've gone. Additionally, there is nothing on my menu that I won't eat. So that's a HUGE plus. Not to mention, and I forgot to mention it earlier--but I"m having my cupcakes custom-dyed to match my wedding colors, and putting chocolate Mickey heads on them. So, it'll all go with my colors and theme. I think, overall, it should be fine.

And, like I said...I will eat ALL of it. :)

they sell churro everywhere in disney. I wouldn't worry about putting it on your buffet and just buying one while your there. having things that you can only usually find in certain places like the boardwalk would provide a nice surprise for your guests tho :)
What do you have to pay in terms of staffing?

Hi, is there a list anywhere that you have access to please? I read about someone having nachos and was confused as thought it was just desserts, but nachos would be great to have too!!

There is no master menu containing all options for dessert parties. Disney gives you a super-limited set of sample dessert menus when you plan a dessert party, but most of the time when you see people who had other types of items, it's because they came up with the ideas themselves and Disney made it happen. I've attached the basic dessert menus to this post, as well as a reception menu that might give you ideas of savory dishes things to ask for.

We are doing a party to celebrate our anniversary early; here are the two menu options we had - where we started and what we scaled it down to!

Baklava (Walnut and/or Pistachio)
Éclairs
Berry Cobbler
Boston Cream Cupcakes
Fresh Fruit Plate
Cheese Plate with dried meats, breads, crackers
Decaf Coffee and Tea, Lemonade
$45++

Walnut Baklava
Éclairs
Fresh Fruit Plate
Cheese Plate with crackers
Decaf Coffee and Tea, Lemonade
$30++

I'm sad about what we had to cut, but I'm trying to be budget conscious and wanted to have some non-dessert option available.

I'm having a dessert party in October. I began work with my planner in March at which time she got approval for UK pubside and began preliminary menu talks. Then nothing.

Just for kicks I followed up with her on Friday. She had no idea who I was nor that we have had any menu discussions. Her files did tell her I have UK pubside reserved.

She says she is sending me menus (for a second time, but she doesn't know that). I guess we begin menu discussions again.

Can't say I am impressed so far. We were closee on a final price and menu, I had spoken with the chef re my daughter's peanut allergy.

I thought it was weird when I first dealt with her. She kept getting menu inclusions wrong, fouling up on pricing, etc. At this point I'm not sure how all this will turn out. We will see how things go once she gets back to me.

Our party is two weeks from today, and I haven't heard anything back from the planner with a final contract to sign or anything. My experience with catering is very different this time than it was when we did a party for our 10th anniversary. Hopefully it comes together and all happens!

It seems crazy to me. So disorganized and unprofessional. My daughter has life threatening allergies and I spent some time the first go around with the chef. That has all been lost now. Do you at least have a price and a menu? At this point I don't even know what it's going to cost. I'm just going with it. If she gets back to me great, but if y he party doesn't happen, I will do something else for my birthday. I just kind of feel that one has to chase them down. Hope all goes well for you. What are your plans/menu?

This was what I agreed to:

Walnut Baklava
Éclairs
Fresh Fruit Plate
Cheese Plate with crackers
Decaf Coffee and Tea, Lemonade
$30++

I haven't heard back since though. I'm sure it will come together, because they do this stuff all the time. Just a little frustrated that it's coming down to the wire and I really wanted it all arranged and paid before we went. I will let you know how it ends up!!

How many people are you having? Did they charge you for the ten person minimum or just multiply you per person price by your number of guests? Hope that makes sense. Here is the menu I had been working on

Cotton candy
Marshmallow butterscotch bars
Cheese and meat platter with asst fruit
Mickey sugar cookies
Ice cream novelties billed on consumption
Lemonade, milk, water

There will be 7 of us; we do have to pay for 10. There is a chance we might have some other family join us, but not sure.

Thanks for the menu links! :) Do you only hire for 1 hour or could you hire the area for a couple of hours beforehand (if so does this cost extra?)? Thinking it would be good to have an area beforehand for drinks then the dessert party. How far in advance can a dessert party be booked? Thanks!!

You can extend the length of the party but would need to pay a prorated per-person charge if you also want to extend food service. Just adding time is free. You can book six months in advance.
