Questions about Drury Inn & using public transportation to parks

We are looking at a 10 night trip to Orlando, September 23 - October 3, 2015. We will be doing Discovery Cove, Seaworld, Aquatica, Universal and Halloween Horror Nights (Frequent Fear passes). This is our first time to Orlando where we are not staying at and doing only Disney the whole time.

I have my eye on the Drury Inn. Using the Canadian resident discount makes it a total of $889.19 USD which seems like a decent price especially considering the many freebies it includes.

My main concern is its location as we will not be renting a car and will be relying on shuttles or public transportation.

Three questions:

1. Those with experience, how easy is it to use public transportation from this hotel to the parks?

2. Should we just look at hotels on I Drive for convenience sake?

3. What should we expect to do for transportation on evenings that we are at Halloween Horror Nights where the park is open until 12am or later?

Mears taxi fare estimated says 8.32 from your hotel to Universal. I'd price Cabana Bay and the hotels within walking distance of universal such as double tree

Edited to add. Cabana Bay us 1027 for your dates including tax

If you were right on I Drive you could be right on the I Ride trolley line and get to all the parks easier. Its probably close enough to walk over From Drury to get the trolley but not quite convenient.

The I Ride trolley doesn't put you that close to Universal. Don't know about the other parks, but hubby was in Orlando for a conference a couple of weeks ago, and they used the trolley for lots of other things, but took a cab to Universal.

We just returned from Drury and there is a shuttle to each park. What they do is make you catch the shuttle to Universal, and you take the buses from there. There are set times, but you can work with them. The advantage to Drury is that you have free breakfast, free dinner, 3 alcoholic beverages, and soda and popcorn available all afternoon. This is very convenient when you are staying for 10 days.. I also took bananas and other fruit with me to the parks for snacks. Consider Drury.

Stayed in Drury in May on military rate. 5 of us in 1 bedroom suite. Very happy with it, but we had our own vehicle. To add to the other post all the freebies and free parking sold us. I had looked at Cabana Bay but the cost to park 2 vehicles was expensive.

The hotel should have its own transportation but I Drive will put you closer to a lot of the places your going and make some of them easy walk or a quick trolley ride .Universal is the only tricky one from I Drive you could use the lynx 8 to downtown Orlando and get on the 21 that goes to Universal .It's 2 dollars a person or $4.50 per person for a day pass that also goes by the Durry .(note Brush Gardens is in Tampa so unless your going to take the amtrak or the greyhound to Tampa it is a very hours a way it might be a tricky one to do )(you can check the lynx site it has trip planner if you need to go somewhere the hotel doesn't offer transport to . golynx.com
