My son LOVES Spiderman, is there anything at Universal besides the ride? Would love a character meet but does Universal have this like DW?

Yes, they do :thumbsup2 . Right across from the ride, Spiderman has a meet and greet inside one of the gift shops.



The Superheros (Dr. Doom, Rogue, Storm, Captain America, Cyclops, Wolverine, Spiderman, Green Goblin) are all milling about at various times of day. And if you are lucky, you'll catch them all driving in on their 4-wheelers.
 
I think Spiderman still makes an appearance at Confisco Grille as well. The interaction with him there is fabulous! He spent like 30 minutes with my son (granted, my boy had fallen at Disney and he was badly bruised, so I think Spidey felt like he really needed him). I had heard great things before that too. I just tried to do a quick search to see if Spidey is still there, but didn't find much. Hopefully someone on the board can help with that.
 


Getting that background for the spidey picture will cost you a bit. If you take a pic with your camera it's just a green screen behind you. Budget accordingly. :)

I don't know what the price per print is, but I'm guessing it would be almost as much as the one day Star Card.

I don't think that character breakfast is still being offered. It's not on the current list of character dining options on the Universal website:

and there was no mention of it when we dined at Confisco's earlier this month.
 
the confrisco grille breakfast with characters have been gone at least 2 or more years.
i weeped when this was discontinued.
i thought it was one of the better breakfast buffets and character interactions.

you can see spiderman in the gift shop/comic at various times during the day.


this is the store you will enter once you leave the ride.
they have great comic books and graphic novels there
i always check that out on each of my trips.
 
Is the photo connect worth it? Already paid for Memory Maker at Disney but I know my son will want that Spiderman picture. If it's going to cost me close to $40 anyway I might as well get the photo connect. We are going to Universal for 2 days, are their other photo ops available?

In addition to the above list (which was spot on), we found Photoconnect photographers in other random locations, too. Off the top of my head, at IOA there were photographers with Captain America and Dr. Doom in Marvel Super Hero Island, on the bridge as you cross into Hogsmeade (getting pics with the castle in the background), and one at the Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, and Thing 2 character meet. At Universal, there was a photoconnect photographer at the Despicable Me dance party (for pics with the minions).

If you are going to be getting the Star Card, be sure to purchase online before your trip. Its cheaper than buying in the park....I think you save about $10.

Is it worth it? We sure thought so.

your threads never bore me.
they are great and with the fantastic pictures and details, loving them all.

i had a 2 surgeries within 2 months.
got out of the hospital week before last and slowly improving.

been in bed most of the days and starting to move around now.
