RPR Renovation

Checking in this Saturday, unless someone gives another update beforehand, I'll ask around, check things out and report back! :)

There is not amount of checking out you can do. Floors that have work going on the elevator is programmed not to stop. Emergency stairways are locked on those floors also. The crews are using staff elevators so you really see nothing at all happening.

I am a meeting & events planner and typically arrange to meet with sales managers, etc., and do site visits, so coming across this information isn't hard from a meeting planner prospective. It is normal to be given an update on the refurbishment progress when inquiring. My company hosts many events and corporate meetings at the RP throughout the year, this is what I implied when I said I would check things out without getting into an explanation to how I would come across this information. I wasn't planning on sneaking around the hotel with a camera and note pad.

That's great.

While your at it ask when each floor, tower, club, and such is being done. Someone with your position could really help others here with full inside updates and possibly a renovation schedule.

disneydawn, i think that would be super if you could find that info out.

so many of us have concerns on our future stay dates.

i already have my room and tower in place but if that tower will have rooms down for the time i will be there, i need to change my request asap.

please let us know what you find out.

i'll buy you a butterbeer for your troubles in helping us.....

even if i have to pack it up and mail it to youse....

I would be extremely happy to report my findings here. I have just been given a group to work with that does a lot of incentive meetings and imagine my surprise when perusing their past event portfolio, I discovered a plethora of past events held at the RP! I already had this trip planned and when this new piece of business came my way, I made a call to our contact and set up a site visit, even though I've already been, its a great way to take in areas I probably would have bypassed and of course, come into some good info to pass along to all of you here!

macraven - I feel it is YOU I owe a butterbeer! All of your posts have helped me so much in the early stages of my planning. Let's just plan to meet up one of these days and enjoy one together! :)

yes we do need to meet up.
first round of butter beers are on me!

You got it! My sister and I are reconsidering our December WDW trip for something else in February and if that happens, I am going to book a few days in October for HHN. I will keep you posted!

And apologies to OP, Mickey's Dreamers, for the slight post hack! As soon as I have RP info to share, I'll be back (said in my best Arnold impersonation) ;)

4 days till my Butterbeer fix... I better start packing!

Cool.

We are there for this weekend too but staying at PBH since it was cheaper.

Nice Bluer101!! I stayed at the PBH in February with my Mom since she is such loves Italy so much! Love it there too, especially like those larger rooms... Enjoy your time and in the off chance you spot me, please say hello! We're there Sat-Wed. Safe travels.

Will do. We are there pretty much monthly. Main reason this trip is b days and pitbull.

Just back Saturday from a wonderful week long stay at the Royal Pacific. We stayed in one of the renovated rooms in Tower 1 - 7th floor - very nice. They are still working on floors one and two in Tower 1. The Tower 1 first floor elevator lobby is enabled as a stop as has access to the pool but was very dusty due to the work. Believe it or not, we could hear (faintly) the hammer drills all they way up on the 7th floor in the afternoon! No noise what so ever at night.

Also - the pool now offers full length lounge covers for the pool chairs in addition to towels. These were nice as they fitted over the top of the pool chairs so they didn't fall down when you raised the chair back. Ask for them (free) at the towel shack.

Thanks for the update. The lounge covers have been for awhile now, maybe 6 months.

Hi everyone, got home last night and wanted to share the following information:

Tower 1 is complete.
Tower 2 is next but reno's won't start until either mid-August or mid-September, I was told the decision on when to start will weigh heavily on their occupancy levels during those months, but definitely won't be held up past mid-September. So, right now, there are no renovations going on at all.
Tower 3 will be last. I was not given a start date as it isn't determined just yet.

Suites: All suites right now are the last rooms to be renovated, including the club level lounge, was told there are still some design issues to work out, they are hoping this may change, it's mainly day to day on some decisions. The manager I spoke to said he wishes the suites would be renovated sooner, but right now, that doesn't seem the case. He said anything can change and if they make progress on the design concerns, they may start suites earlier. He expressed a lot of concern for this and wished the suites weren't at the bottom of the "list".

Expecting the entire renovation to be complete March 2016.

It was curious to me that when I was asked how I liked my room (I had a Tower 1 - 7th floor pool facing room, BTW) did I like to switch from the mini-bar to a regular fridge and did I miss the mini-bar (!) Now, maybe when I was younger and a mini-bar was very exciting to me (not so much my parents)... but I was a little surprised by the question, do they really think people prefer a mini-bar to a fridge? Needless to say, I let them know they made the right decision and I can't imagine people will be opposed to having a fridge in their room whether they use it or not.

My thoughts on the renovated rooms: I liked them enough, I tend to like modern design so I liked the new fixtures and appointments, loved the walk in shower, tons of outlets to plug things into and charge, and the bold flowers were okay too... in the same vein, I really love vintage/retro styles too and I really liked the older rooms too, I would have been happy in an un-renovated room but would have missed the fridge that we put to a lot of use!

We had a chance to spend some time in the club lounge, it was nice to enjoy the former style of the Tower 1 rooms. What a lovely staff too, everyone we spoke to was so friendly and accommodating. Will definitely consider a club level room the next time we stay at the RP.

Side note: Sapphire Falls will have a enclosed, air conditioned walkway connecting to the convention area of the Royal Pacific.
