Newbie Again :)

Read all of it so far! Looking forward to watching your plans develop! I think (hope) I'll start my trip report tomorrow. I "think" we're going with the Poly, but next on the list is Beach Club, then after would be Contemporary. Needing a wheelchair accessible room with a bath tub is a pain, and each resort only has a few, but I intend to reserve one regardless! :crutches::flower:
Yay! Thanks for reading along and posting! Its so nice to have people comment! Makes me feel less alone! :rotfl: I do like the Poly, I haven't ever stayed there before but holy wow the water bungalows looks AMAZE-BALLS! But I don't think my budget is gonna ever stretch that far! :charac2:We did consider the Poly but with all the construction I was worried it would still be all jacked up and that would just be sad :sad2:. I am sending you mental pixie dust that you get your accessible room :tinker: I am excited to read your trip report! I will be watching out :sail:!

Oh my gosh Club Level sounds dreamy! *swoon* From what I've seen on the boards a perk to CL is the food! Was it? Did you love it? Did you use the Disney Dining Plan? Beach club has that incredible pool Stormalong Bay as well, which is one reason it is on our short list. Did you get to try the pool? Is Beach Club your favorite WDW Resort? :D

We did really enjoy the CL food, especially the free breakfasts! We also took advantage of the late afternoon appetizers/wine and late night desserts. We hung out by the pool one afternoon and then I spent one entire afternoon there solo - I'm not much of a swimmer, so I didn't go in, but just laying out on a lounge chair was glorious. This was the first time I'd ever stayed at the Beach Club (my first time at a deluxe resort, in fact, as it was a special birthday trip), but I'd stay there again in a heartbeat, CL or no. We did not use the dining plan, although I have before and would again if the circumstances were right, but for four adult women who only wanted to make a couple of ADRs, it didn't seem worth it. You know what else was fantastic? The movie we watched on the "beach" :tink:

Hi ladies, I'm brand new to the board. I've enjoyed reading your banter in this post. I wanted to say to Glittercat/Rebecca that a wheelchair access bathroom makes all the difference during our stays. My daughter is an infant stroke victim with left hemiplasia (her left side is weak) and developmental delays. September 2015 will be our fourth visit to Disney with her. While she is not bound to a wheelchair, we do use one extensively to move her around the world, and I do have to help her with bathing. When she was little on our first visit staying at WL a regular tub with the handles was enough. As she has grow the wheelchair access tub with a seat has been a God send. It not only keeps her safe from falling but saves my back as well.
I have stayed at all of the deluxe resorts around the Magic Kingdom, I prefer the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian for wheelchairs. The lower buildings make is much easier and safer to access your room IMHO. Their wheelchair rooms are more spacious, and we even splurge on a Theme-park view room as we only travel to Disney every three to four years so I have time to save up for the amenities we like when we travel. Hope your trip is awesome!

Firstly... :welcome: to the group! There are some terrific souls here and I just adore them! :lovestruc We're delighted that you've joined us!

I could not agree with this more! Though I've never been placed in an accessible room at Disney but have hight hopes this time.

Oh you poor dears! That is a lot to deal with and I wish her nothing but the very best. What does she enjoy doing at Disney? :-) What do you like to do there? One of things I love about going there is it is such an easily customizable experience for each guest.

Oh good I'm so glad that is working out for you! I can't really stand much :crutches:so showers are dangerous as I've passed out in them before- lol just an ehlers danlos thing. Bathtubs are like security blankets to me, and I'm grateful that Disney has both types of rooms for guests. :-)
I have stayed at all of the deluxe resorts around the Magic Kingdom, I prefer the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian for wheelchairs.
How fantastic to have stayed at all of them! There are some beautiful resorts! From the reading I've been doing, a fair bit of care has gone into making the Poly more accessible and I really want to support that!
The lower buildings make is much easier and safer to access your room IMHO.
This makes good sense to me. ::yes::

Oh how cool to have a theme park view! It has been nearly 5 years since we've been back and this will be our first ever Deluxe Resort, I'm really excited!!!
Hope your trip is awesome!
Thank you so much dear! When do you think you'll be heading back? Any idea which Resort you'll book? Our trip is not for quite some time but I've a Pre-Trip Report as there is just so much to figure out! It's over here if you decide to take a peek. o_O:D *smiles* http://www.disboards.com/threads/tr...nd-wishes-on-wheels-oh-my-1st-ptr-tr.3407712/

So excited you are staying at the Poly! It's wonderful especially with children. Our upcoming trip is September 26 (my birthday) thru October 2, 2015. We are staying at GF as it is my father's favorite. My parents will be joining us as will my son and his family. First time all of us will be together since my son's wedding two years ago. He lives way too far away in TX.
When I booked my room on the Disney web site, I selected a wheelchair accessible room from the options. How is it that you "have never been placed" in a wheelchair accessible room? By law, if they have one available when you book, they are required to hold it for you. Check into that. I even read it on the disAbled board here.
My daughter loves the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain and all the coaster rides except the Rockin Roller Coaster (can't do the ones that turn upside down). We both love Halloween so we decided to try MNSSHP this time. Really excited!
I'll check out you pre-trip thread...

We are as well! It was actually a tough decision as we were looking at Beach Club and Contemporary too, but I decided that I wanted a vacation within a vacation! :beach: That island vibe just looks too delicious!

So happy to hear this!

Yay that will be a happy birthday indeed for you!!! SO delighted that you'll be there for that celebration- oh isn't food and wine at EPCOT going on then too?! Will you be doing a Pre Trip Report? If so please do let me know and I'll be right there to follow along! :D

Dreamy! This sounds heavenly and 24 HOUR POOL!!!

I'm so glad that you'll have this special time with your family!

The last times I've booked on the website and requested an accessible room. Twice when we arrived we were told they were already booked, so we just sort of did the best we could. Including having my poor husband help me sit down in the bathroom  as my knees just can't take it. Those metal bars are truly lifesavers, and I wish all bathrooms and restrooms had them. This time I booked over the phone to talk with a real live human being and put in the request for accessible room the 1st person did not do that. :( I felt like something was off and shared on this board and someone gave me the number to disability services and I spoke with a really nice CM, he put the request in for me, but now I'm paranoid lol. I'm going to call back again at some point and politely ask that the request be read back to me, just so I can verify.

Oh neat! Haunted Mansion is such a perfectly themed ride, it is my husband's very favorite! :hmghost:I've never done Space Mountain or Rockin' Roller Coaster but yeah that upside down things is not going to happen.
We both love Halloween so we decided to try MNSSHP this time. Really excited!
Yay this looks like a good time for all, and you might get to meet Jack and Sally! :D Will you all dress up? If so what will your costumes be?
I'll check out you pre-trip thread...
Why thank you very much dear! Today I'm afraid it will be scooter related as it seems I'm going to have to transition from wheelchair to scooter.

I am so sorry I missed replying to you dear! Not even sure how I did that.

Oh that does sound delightful! Especially the solo day, so good for recharging.

Beach Club looks like such a relaxing resort! From the photos I really like the soothing room decor too! That makes perfect sense to me about the dining plan. We have to use it as it is a requirement by my husband, and if my estimations are correct he's right this time and I was wrong. lol. Oh how cool that you got to watch a movie at the beach! I love the look of the resorts with their own beach it lends that perfect "I'm on vacation" vibe! :beach:

Oh my gosh, no worries! I'm so jealous you're going to be staying at the Poly - I'm planning a solo trip for next year, and there is no way I can afford a deluxe on my own. Frankly, I'm not sure I can afford a moderate on my own, but I'm going to anyway :flower1:.

I'm a little dazed about the Poly myself!
I'm planning a solo trip for next year, and there is no way I can afford a deluxe on my own.
Yay for a solo trip!!! This will sound odd but the price of deluxe resorts drop in after 4th of July- not so with mods or values, and it is actually a lot more feasible then!
Frankly, I'm not sure I can afford a moderate on my own, but I'm going to anyway :flower1:.
Which resort are you considering? :D There are some great mods too! Will you be doing a PTR? If so let me know!

I'm looking at a spring trip, so I'm thinking either POFQ or Caribbean Beach. Hadn't thought about a PTR, but I guess I could consider it!

Oh neat! We've stayed at POFQ and if it was not for the wheelchair and non accessible room it was really nice, especially the boat! DOOOOO IIITTTTTT the PTR I mean! ;)
