As luck would have it I was able to score super cheap flights for my boys- so they will be getting down 2 days before I thought(*hence why our disney vacation starts 2 days later) So now that I find myself with 2 days. You know a planner can't just chill at a hotel. I need some stuff to do. I initially thought HARRY POTTER! But it would cost about $1500 for us for the 2 nights and park tickets(5 of us this trip) that seemed excessive to me. Then I thought what about Legoland. My youngest is 10 though. And his brother is 12. They are HUGE lego freaks. We have never been. That would be just about $600 I would think for one day pass and a hotel for 2 nights. Ok and Seaworld 2 nights one day in the parks? Or maybe it is 2 is around $1000

But what am I missing? Is there anything else we could do? That would be cheaper? That my boys would enjoy. I am kicking myself about the Space Center(did you know you can get free tickets just by contacting your state official- but they need a 6 month lead time......so yeah....)

They fly in Saturday afternoon. We have all day Sunday and Monday(when we check into disney but not planning on parking it) BUT Should I just add on water park to our tickets and go to a water park before we check in? Or do I need to use my park hopper ticket first before the water park perks kick in)
HELP! I'm confused.

GATORLAND. We love gatorland. We've visited there twice in recent trips to the Orlando area. You can get some great pictures. You can feed the gators. There are some shows they do thru out the park. It doesn't cost anything extra for the shows. They had a zip line you can do. That does cost extra money. You can eat there as well. We spent about half a day there. I think an adult ticket is about 26 dollars. Children's prices should be cheaper. Kids seem to love it as well as adults. They have a website if you want to check it out. Gatorland.com

Gatorland is a great option, as mentioned above. Undercover Tourist has discounted tickets that will save you about $5 each.

Wild Florida is something we're doing this upcoming December. For a one hour airboat ride and admission to their animal park, it was about $45 pp. We have done an airboat ride before (highly recommend them!) and adding in the complimentary animal park admission made Wild Florida appear to be a great deal (it gets excellent reviews, so I am sure we won't be disappointed).

Fun Spot America is currently on Groupon for $35 pp. Again, it somewhere we have never been, but might be fun for your kids.

The new Orlando Eye complex might be a fun day. You can get combo tickets that include the Eye, Sea Life Aquarium, and Madame Tussauds for $35 pp. We did the Eye earlier this month and it was awesome!! We have the aquarium and Tussauds already purchased for Christmas and can't wait to go, they both look fantastic.

What about a waterpark? Aquatica is fabulous, and weekday tickets can be purchased through Undercover Tourist for under $30 pp including tax. If you can add a waterpark to your Disney tickets cheaper, then I'd recommend Typhoon Lagoon (their wave pool is so much fun).

My boys were 11 and 13 when I took them to Legoland and they LOVED it. Really, it is just fun if you like Legos. There were rides that worked for older kids (and they can do the cars up to 13, which is a big draw), there were building stations, there was the amazing Mini World to explore. And we didn't even go in the water park, just the theme park. We were also there the first year they opened, so I'm pretty sure they have added some other rides and attractions.

Also, you don't have to stay on property. We were at WBC for the week, and had 4 day passes for Uni and 2 day passes for Legoland. It's about a 45 min drive, on mostly 4 lane roads, so easy to get to from a less expensive Orlando hotel.

Another option is to stay at a resort with a good pool / play area, and plan for one of the awesome themed mini-golf courses and some go-kart racing. There are plenty of neat things to do and see on I-Drive, like the Titanic Museum, the Orlando Eye, etc. My boys are jonesin' for either the Titanic Museum or a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center, which would be a longer drive, but fun if you have gear-heads like mine. They love air and space and car museums.

Of course, adding the water parks and more option to your existing tickets is an inexpensive way to go and would probably be a lot of fun.

$600 for legoland?. The tickets for 2 adults and 2 kids to legoland, plus parking should be well under $275 using the kids go free with an adult offer and a costco discount ticket. I would just stay in the hotel you are already staying at, as its an easy 1 hour drive from the Disney area.

I have 3 kids coming with. But what is the costco ticket discount? The kids go free thing states only with non-discounted tickets. Am I missing something? Got all excited when I found military discounts for seaworld bringing cost down to $45 a ticket then realized it was for San Antonio. DOH! But that is a great deal for veterans. Leaning towards Legoland and a mini golf day staying in Orlando hotel for 2 nights *got a mousesaver deal today that looks good.

Now do I understand this correctly? I already have park hopper tickets can I just add on the water park and more for just $130 for the 5 of us? It appears that way online? If so that is the way to go I think. We can hit the water park before we get onsite I think.

These ticket were even cheaper in my local costco recently, not sure if they are still on sale.

Here is a link to the bogo offer:

Based you your family of 5, you would buy 2 tickets using the Kids-free deal and 1 with the Costco deal.

Your best deal may very well be adding the water parks and more option. It's a great deal if you like water parks and want to fill out your vacation week.

I heard they stopped giving out free tickets for Kennedy so don't kick yourself there :).

When is your trip? I would add on water parks if it's going to be warm.

Would hitting the beach at Tampa/St. Pete be an option? I suppose you could also go to a ballgame while you're there as well.

Trip is in a month! (Nothing like last minute) Our Disney days are all planned out. It was the out of the box college orientation part that threw this wrinkle in. I will be with my daughter in Fort Meyers for 3 days before heading to Orlando. Last year we went to Siesta Key and loved it. Thank you for all the great ideas! And for helping me sort it all out. I'm finally getting excited. Now just have to get through the next 13 days of work.

Kids are 11 and 13 and no one suggested DisneyQuest? Disney quest is a teenage boy's heaven! Located in downtown Disney, you pay one price and get access to five floors stuffed with video games. You play as much as you want for no additional charge. There are games for the entire family - a river raft, a pirate boat adventure, and a few more. In addition to video games, there is bumper cars and more. Another idea, although this may be dull for the kids, is to tour Celebration - the town Disney built. Final idea is this Resort Touring Plan I found.

- Beach
- Busch Gardens
- Blue Man Group
- City Walk
- Water Parks
- Fort Wilderness Campground
- Gatorland

Look up local events or festivals in the area when you are visiting. If you tell us your the days, I am sure someone on here can find some free or inexpensive local events going on.

We will be there starting June 27. Thanks for all the great ideas.
