Bikinis for busty teen girls?

I just spent a very frustrating day with my DD. Her friend told her about a great swimsuit sale at American Eagle so we went there to look at suits. Her friend is built a bit like DD so she was really interested in checking out the suits. NONE of them fit properly and the one that was close was not available online in the proper size (sold out). My DD is a size 4 and she's a size small of medium on the bottoms and a 34-D or 34-DD on top. I don't mind a sexy top (she's 15) but it is nearly impossible to find a top without half of her falling out. If we get it big enough to fit the cup size, the band is loose. If the bad fits, the cups are too small.

I am not "blessed" with her assets so I really have no clue. I think I will have to order her something online. Does anyone have a suggestion ... at a reasonable price? Or am I just going to have to pay through the nose for a decent suit that fits?

You will probably want to shop somewhere that sells the bathing suit tops in bra sizes not just small, medium, large. You're probably going to have to look online.

My 16 year old dd is pretty busty (not quite as big up top as your dd though). She also wears a small bottom. Believe it or not I've had good luck at Victoria's Secret. You can pick separate tops and bottoms and lots of tops with good support so everything isn't falling out!

Can't she wear one in the correct cup size that ties like a shoe lace in the back.

We did try both of thosevat American Eagle. She tried on a 34D and it the cups were too small and then a 36D and the band was too big. The 34DD was out of stock online.

I'm certainly willing to try at another place! Her current suit is from Victoria's Secret/Pink. We picked it up at the outlet mall in Orlando but she wants a new suit for the summer.

I didn't realize AE had bra sizing, haven't shopped there for a few years. Stinks they didn't have the size. I've had luck with athleta.com for supportive suits. They are more sporty. Zappos has a large selection but some of the cuter ones were expensive- $94 for just the top yikes! With zappos, you could order a few different ones to try on and send back what you don't like since they have free shipping both ways.

I think Aerie has some with bra sizes and theirs are all separates so she can get different sized bottoms.

I feel your pain, I have the same problem w/dd who is a 30dd -- even finding bras she likes and that fit are a challenge. Been looking for a bikini top this year and haven't had any luck yet.

Well shoot! I just noticed there was an Athleta in the mall yesterday, but we didn't go in.

We were back in the Aerie section. BTW, suits are 50% off this weekend so they are really a great deal! Shipping is free if you order in the store.

Maybe try JCrew? I find their suits to be a very good quality and they go on sale/clearance a lot.

Try Venus if VS works for her. DW has similar luck with both.

Victoria's Secret. DD15 is a bit larger than your DD and VS is the only place we have found that works for her. Even so, some of the styles don't come in the DD cup size, but she can always find a style or two that supports her.

She has a couple of bottoms from VS, but she tends to get most of her bathing suit bottoms at Target. She wants to wear a bikini but still be covered, and she likes the Target bottoms a little better.

Good luck looking!

I would be very willing to bet your daughter is not a 34 in band size and possibly larger than a DD in cup size. I'd measure her according to this calculator: http://www.brasizecalculator.tk/ and go from there. You might be surprised at the results, but for me they've been extremely accurate. Panache, Cleo, and Curvy Kate all sell bikinis in large bust sizes. Amazon is actually a really good source for buying online, especially if you have Prime. /r/abrathatfits on reddit is another awesome resource at least for figuring out what bras/bikini tops work for her shape.

my dd wears a 38DD so is a bit bigger than your dd, but we found tops that fit really well at jc penny. the price was very affordable.

I have swimsuits from a Panache and Cleo that are sized by band and cup size. They make 28 and 30 bands, which are often needed by smaller women and teens. In general, the band size should be equal to the measurement below the breasts, and is often similar to the waist measurement. Cups for these brands are sized by the more consistent UK sizing, but in a properly sized band, may be up to 4 letters larger than a typically poorly measured suit from VS. So a 34 D might really do better in a 30G (yes, it's a real size) or 32 FF. Panache and Cleo are available from Amazon. -- Suzanne
