How did your 7/8/9 year old do on FJ, Transformers, Terminator, Gringotts, and Mummy?

Our trip is almost here! I am second guessing myself on which rides to take my 8 year old on. She will trust me at first, but if I take her on something too scary, she won't ride anything else she can't see. What is your experience with this?

When DD was 7, she didn't like FJ, though she made it through OK. She has refused to ride it again though. She hated Mummy and actually cried. She said it was too loud. She went on it again at 11 and loved it. She didn't try Terminator and there was no Transformers or Gringotts then.

I will tell you that I am a big chicken when it comes to rides. I really liked Gringotts. I wasn't scared on Transformers, but it was so loud it gave me a giant headache. Mummy scares me; I've ridden it a couple of times. The first time I did OK. The second time was in Jan. and DH and I were in the front row. It was too much for me and I won't be riding it again. Forbidden Journey scared the **** out of me and I actually balled like a baby after that one, LOL.
I've never had any desire to try Terminator.

Sounds like she should definitely skip Mummy and maybe skip FJ. Gringotts and Transformers ok. Check! Thanks.

Only you know what will scare your kids! Watch some videos on YouTube to get an idea. My kids are daredevils and ride everything they can. My oldest will finally be tall enough to ride hulk and DD on this visit. He is pumped!

She's new to scary dark rides, so it is hard for me to make a judgment. She rides most everything at Disney, though she's never done ToT (probably Disney's scariest). But this is our first US trip. I know the two are very different. She doesn't watch scary movies and has very little experience with scary things in general, but she is mature and knows these are just rides. Still, might be better to avoid some of them.

And I hope your son loves Hulk! I am also pumped to ride it.

Our 6 year old niece loved Transformers and Gringotts. She was too short for Mummy and FJ but probably would have loved them if she could have gone on. She's a thrill seeker. The only ride she doesn't like very much is Tower of Terror at Disney. That said, her favourite movie as a five year old was Nightmare before Christmas, so use that as a guide, lol.

We took our DD for the first time at age 9..She wouldn't ride FJ ( she does now at 11 and loves it ), She wouldn't go on Mummy ( and still wont) .Transformers was there the next year and she loved it.Terminator was fine .She loved Gringotts this past visit ( again she is 11 )..Mine is a very timid kid though

My 8 and 6 loved them and 8 yo also loved Rip ride rocket several times. My kids ride anything they can
I'm curious as to whether she will want to ride RRR. She can see that one and make her own decision. So many of them she can't see. What other ride would you equate RRR with? Is it pretty wild or more tame?

My 7 year old rides them all. Mummy is one of his favorite rides! Obviously though I do think it depends on the kid. He's always been pretty open to thrill rides, wanting to try them the moment he makes the height limit.

If she can handle RRR she will be able to ride everything with the exception of Forbidden Journey. That ride is a no go if you have a phobia or fear of Spiders. The Mummy is dark if she can ride Space Mountain I think she can handle the Mummy.

It goes upside down. It's a decent coaster

Compared to "real" roller coasters, like the ones at a park like Cedar Point or Six Flags, RRR is pretty tame. For me, as an adult that likes roller coasters and thrill rides, the "worst part" is the vertical lift hill. It's a bit unnerving. Compared to Disney coasters, it's on the more wild side.

Thanks! She hated The Scream Machine at SF, but she rode it when she was four. She's a little braver now.

What makes your daughter nervous? For my DD, its creepy things (even Haunted Mansion is too creepy). For my DS, its big drops (although he has little interest in creepy stuff).

Mummy is very creepy. Spiderman and Transformers are just action-packed but no scary drops. Gringotts is good - even for those who won't do coasters and even my DD could handle the "creepy" sections. FJ is VERY creepy - but she could just close her eyes for the whole middle section. The beginning and the end should be fine. RRR is straight up, all thrills coaster. What u see, is what u get :) My DD loved it (but when younger, would cry in the line for EVERY new coaster. Once it started, she would love it. Just rather embarrassing for me to force her into the seat blubbering - I wasn't as mean a mom as I looked, I promise!)

I like to show some ride videos and gauge reactions that way. I'm helping a friend plan his Disney/Uni trip and I sat his whole family down to watch a planning video...I gained so much insight into what they were each interested in. For some questionable rides, I showed them more detailed ride videos and we discussed whether they were manageable.

We were just in US in April. My boys are 7 & 10, both chickens. We did all of the rides except the big coasters. The only one they wouldn't do again is the Mummy. I sat next to my 10yr old and he was very upset during the ride. All of the transformer, spider man types they both thoroughly enjoyed. They also loved Jurassic park and Dudley do right rip saw falls.
