As of Thursday, about half of the third floor is now renovated and work was taking place on the other half (rooms 3648 - 3727). This is the half that would be above the lobby stretching towards the Yacht Club. These pictures were taken directly from stepping off the main elevators.

Would I be missing out of we just did not do Via Napoli?

Just think of it this way-if you don't get to go this time you'd be duty bound to plan another trip to WDW in the future :)

You can always try a walk up if you're passing one day or try booking a later adr for arrival day but show up early if you make good time from the airport. That way you wont have the same stress trying to make 7.30 pm.

Hi everyone - checked into the beach club villas yesterday & we are LOVING it! Doesn;t feel run down to us at all. Have room studio 406 which overlooks the quiet pool and is right down the hall from the laundry! Beds are comfy, room is clean, GREAT water pressure in the shower, and my kids just love it! I can see how it does need a refresh for the decor compared to the modern design of the other dvc's but we're all a-ok here no issues so far!

Would I be missing out of we just did not do Via Napoli?
We tried Via Napoli in December - the food and service were good, and the atmosphere is cozy and nice, but I wouldn't make it a "do or die" kind of place...

If you are hungry when you arrive, and you're not sure of what time it will be for an AD, maybe you could try the Big River Grill on the Boardwalk before going into Epcot...they only take walk ups....no reservations. We tried there a few years ago and remember the food being good and sitting outside on the Boardwalk was fun for people watching.

Does the following enable V.I.P mode?

  • Hold down the ‘display’ button
  • While holding that button, press ‘off’
  • Release off, continue to hold down display, and press the ‘up’ arrow button Release all buttons.

I don't know the answer, but someone subsequently answered that this does not work on the new thermostat units.

Just wanted to say :welcome: since I don't think you have posted before.

Do you have an upcoming stay at the resort planned???

:goodvibes:

Hello! It's been quite a while since I've checked in here! We have modified our reservations for our July trip and we are now booked for our entire trip at BC! And we booked CL, too! Yay! I gave my husband two options....stay two nights at BC and the remaining seven nights at POR and get the DDP or nine nights BC CL with the QS dining plan. Smart man chose well! 55 days until we leave!!!!! I guarantee I'll be on the DIS a lot more in the upcoming weeks!

Please dance the Happy Dance with me!!!

:yay:pixiedust::cool1::banana::jumping1::dancer:

:woohoo:

That is exciting news. I will make sure the Be Our Guest list reflects this new plan.

:)

We have 3 rooms booked for September with the magical company that is discussed on here. Anyway, in one of the room will be my 2 grandchildren and at the time of travel they will 7 months and 21 months. We will need 2 pack n plays or cribs in this room. The travel agent said to wait until we do our online check in. Would you recommend waiting this long or is she just trying to pass off the task a little? Also will be in a standard view room. I havent found a map explaining where these rooms are like i have seen for other resorts. Is there such a thing?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1. Beach Club?

Originally I was going to answer that I didn't think it was necessary to add this to the room request right now, but since you will need a room large enough to fit two cribs/pack and plays, it doesn't hurt to make that clear as soon as possible. When checking in online, can you even indicate that you need 2 cribs? I don't know, have never checked in online before.

There is a very old map I have posted on Page 1 (in the Beach Club Room post)- at the time the map was created there were only water view or standard view rooms, no garden view category.

Will edit it in in a minute.

Room Numbers: I hesitantly post this map. Please use with caution. It is outdated, pre resort rehab and prior to the addition of the Beach Club Concierge Lounge (the lounge is now on the 5th floor where you see the word "ICE"). The view categories are also different. When this map was created, there were only standard view rooms and water view rooms (no garden view), so many of these rooms now have a different view category than what is indicated on this map.

Our dates are set now for Sept 12-19th if you want to update the BOG list!! Thank you!!

Will do!

:goodvibes

We stayed in (I think) 3501 once, third floor right above the secret entrance, water view but since it was at the corner we also had a view of the trees towards Epcot. Best room ever. If you don't mind stairs, it's a shorter trip to the International Gateway at Epcot than it is to the BC lobby...

:wave2:

Have not seen you in awhile!

In case anyone is interested, Chef Mickey is now open for reservations for brunch - starting May 31 I think. Just a "heads-up" in case you are still looking for a Mickey Character buffet....Chef Mickey is kind of hard to get sometimes...but I got in and was able to change my breakfast to a brunch for our last day - I figured that a last hug from Mickey would help us with our late afternoon travel!!

Thanks for that info.

:thumbsup2

I have an ADR for CA Grill and Narcoosse during my trip. Is the easiest way to get there to walk to Epcot from BC and take the monorail? Approximately how long would such a venture take?
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to Hollywood Studios and the bus depot is a lot more convenient than the bus depot at Epcot. You could also take a boat to HS if it is right there or on its way. It is about the same amount of walking time as it is to walk through Epcot and it might be quicker to get to GF via bus than by taking two monorails. A taxi is quickest, though. :)

Ok, now that I got that out of my system. I made and ADR for Via Napoli @ 7:30 on our arrival day. We land at 5:15 PM, renting a car, staying club level. Do you think I can make my ADR? This is the only day I can fit in Via Napoli and I have read great reviews about it. However, being club level should I just grab something at the resort so we don't have to rush?
Thank you for your help.
The driving time from the airport to the BC is about 35-40 minutes in good traffic. It looks like you might be in rush hour traffic. You probably want to give yourself a half hour to check in to your room, through the International Gateway and then down to Italy in the World Showcase. That gives you about 40 minutes to get off the plane, grab your luggage, and pick up your rental car. I agree with others that it would be a bit of a rush to get to Via Napoli on time. I would keep looking for a Via Napoli reservation that was around 8pm and if you can't find one, then you might want to cancel it at least 24 hours ahead of time. :)

My other question is do you know if Disney does the thing that some other hotels are doing where they offer upgrades (if available) for an additional cost at check in? It would be awesome to have the chance to move up to a 1 bedroom for a fee if there were any openings. I know Hilton does this but wasn't sure about Disney.
Beach Club villas are in high demand but it doesn't hurt to ask when you check in. It always seems like it is easier to get upgrades for very short trips than for longer ones. :)

We're less than 30 days out (!!!!!!!!!!) from our split stay (BCV and regular BC) and I have a few questions I couldn't find answered anywhere else. We have a woods/garden view studio for the first 2 nights and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for favorite locations to request? Our only real desire is to not be on the ground floor and, other than wishing then refurb had started on the villas so we could hope for a spiffed up room (which they haven't yet - right?), we're pretty flexible.

Also - does anyone have an update on the refurbs at BC and where they are with them (what floor they're they are working on, etc)? Thanks!

As far as BCV room view request, I would simply request higher floor. The Villas do not have any "terrific" views.
BCV is a timeshare accommodation - not a hotel. They seldom, if ever, offer upgrades and if they do it is because of some operational issue they need to solve. In all our years of visiting there I have never known them to offer an upgrade to a 1 BR when you have a studio booked.
Have Fun

Here's the recipe I have:

1 oz Malibu coconut Rum
1 oz Midori
1oz Orange juice
1oz Pineapple juice
.05 oz Curacao
Splash of Sprite

Instructions

Fill tumbler with ice and pour in the Rum and Midori, OJ, Pineapple Juice, Sprite and stir.

Top with sprite and float .5 oz of Blue Curacao on top.

Gosh it looks like a Welsh Dragon, that bright green color, of course it is not
(and the Welsh Dragon has completely different ingredients. )

I had never heard of a Welsh Dragon, so I Googled it...apparently, Rose & Crown serves it...who knew???

Here's the entry I found:

"Is this drink beautiful or what? Before even tasting a drop, I was struck by the gorgeous combination of colors. But a beautiful drink is useless if it doesn’t taste good. Fortunately, the Welsh Dragon does not suffer from that problem.

Official description: Peach Schnapps, Melon Liqueur, Creme de Menthe, Orange Juice, and Pineapple Juice."

So pretty different ingredients, but it also sounds pretty good!

Would anyone want to take a wild guess about when they think ALL room renovations (both DVC and non DVC rooms) at BC will be completed by? I'm in the process of planning an Easter/spring break trip for 2016 and, since we'll be spending alot of down time at the resort and Epcot for F&G, I'm leaning towards BC. If there's a chance we wouldn't have a renovated room at BC by next March, I'll probably lean more towards BWI/V despite the nightmarish clown pool :scared1:

Since all I can think about is my trip to BC next Saturday, I just thought of a question... Does HH take orders and deliver by the pool like they do at the beach pool at GF?

Aaaagh!! I'm so frustrated. We are taking a trip 6/6-6/13 to Disney. Originally I wanted a BC/Poly split but couldn't get the BC for the dates needed. There was always one day (the 10th of all things) that wasn't available. So I finally booked a Poly Standard view room for the whole time. I'm pretty concerned about the construction though so I have been continuously checking for BC rooms to open up plus we do love BC. Finally today an AP discount room opened up for 10-13 and I was thrilled. I booked it and then went online to adjust my Poly dates. Here is where my frustration starts (continues??) when I try to reduce my room nights to checkout on the 10th it/Disney website won't let me do it. It treats it like a new booking and only gives different classes of rooms (i.e. more expensive ones!) for the reduced days. So frustrating since I know the room is there but it won't let me keep our standard but just for less days. Now, I have one room booked for the 6-13th and the other for the 10-13th until I decide what to do. :( Blah! I really don't want construction during out whole stay but was willing to gamble on part of it. Plus, I wanted to check out the new Poly pool area and the Trader Sams. Rant over. Anyone have any luck calling vs. booking online with this sort of issue? I tried calling and the guy just said he didn't see availability for those days and wasn't flexible. I wonder if someone else would be more willing.

I haven't had any experience with this personally, but I have heard of several other people on other threads that have had the same problem...evidently, this is new Disney policy and not a good one:( People are saying that they had booked a BB offer thinking they could make adjustments if needed (as you've been able to do in the past) only to find out that you could only adjust your dates if your room category at your choice hotel was still available! VERY frustrating! I hope you can get your trip worked out and have a great time anyway:)

I've heard of this, too. I don't think it's going to get Disney the result it wants. We were planning to stay three nights at a universal resort in January, then move to AKV. We've usually rented points because it's cheaper. But if I had a good BB or AP rate, I'd have booked through Disney just to have the flexibility in changing out dates. If the flexibility is gone, I'll just rent points and get travel insurance.

And those ingredients are...???

uh oh...

Yes, ingredients please?? You come over here, throwing drink names around....then don't tell us how to make it??? We LOVE a good drink on this thread :)

::worship:: THANK YOU!!

I truly thought everyone knew about the Welsh Dragon (like the Lapu Lapus! ok, that's the pineapple drink served at the Polynesian which is a basic Mai Tai in a real pineapple >>
  • 2 parts Myers's Dark Rum, 2 parts pineapple juice, 3 parts orange juice, 1 part sweet and sour mix, topped with 1 part Bacardi 151 rum floated on the top.
note that floating Bacardi 151 on top gives it the feel of a really strong drink!)

Now, when you go to Rose and Crown and order a Welsh Dragon, do know I don't like some of the ingredients, but was asked to try it first, you can't taste the individual liquors, they combine for deliciousness! and my first glass was in a Souvenir mug, not sure if they still have them, its been a few years since I've been to WDW! Now its easy to just get it to go and walk around with the green drink!

Just got back from our trip May 16 - 22. We had WONDERFUL weather. It rained once, for about 5 minutes. Seriously couldn't have asked for better weather.

Our stay at YC CL was awesome. The staff at CL were all so pleasant and attentive. We did not mind the 'bartender,' if anything, it was nice to chit chat with them as we got our wine! Got as much as we wanted and enjoyed talking to them! Our room was 5226, which was literally one room over from our last stay (5224) so we had nearly the same view, this one slightly more view of the rooftop, but still not bad. We had turndown every night, and rooms were tidy and clean.

Bus Service this trip was SPOTTY. AK was good, boat service was great and constant. MK bus service was brutal, there was only ONE time when we waited less than 10 minutes for a bus. Other times, both at MK and at the resort, we were waiting 20+ minutes for a bus. One evening we shared service (from MK) with Swan/Dolphin/Boardwalk. It was crowded, and we ended up talking to this one poor guy who was holding his 60lb daughter who was fast asleep and no one bothered to give up seating for the guy. It was a thirty minute drive to BC (where his family was staying) and he's holding her one armed (the other holding the bar of course). He wasn't complaining, but we were! LOL...We all have tired feet, but sometimes people aren't considerate. Oh well, won't be the first or last time that happens!

Had no glitches and issues with the magic bands. I still don't see why we can't book them maybe....10 days in advance instead of 60. It made planning the trip a bit more stressful, but made the time during the trip a bit easier not running to rides to get a fastpass. We were able to go on the 7dmt 2x, once for an early FP+ and another time we went on during wishes (we had seen it earlier that week) when standby was only 30 minutes (at around 9:50), and the line moved quickly b/c not many people booked their FP+ while wishes was going on (got to see some of the fireworks while standing in line, pretty cool). I will say, Peter Pan's flight is up there with 7DMT in need of FP+. there were some times during the trip when PPF had a LONGER wait than 7dmt. I give people a lot of credit waiting 75 minutes for that ride!

There is a lot of construction going on in the parks. While we really enjoyed this trip, we are thinking we may not return until they have some of the new things built, like the avatar park in AK and MK Hub, and maybe Star Wars park in DHS, and Disney Springs. We LOVE disney and had a great trip, but would love to return in 4-5 years when they have some new additions, because we saw a lot of boarded up walls this trip. I know it's a work in progress and nothing happens overnight, so I'm not complaining, just thoughts for when we will be returning.

I would definitely suggest coming in early-mid may. You plan it right and you can have a very pleasant trip. From my planning, we never waited more than 30 minutes for a ride and were able to have some SAB time every day! There are of course still the chair savers. Honestly, I deal with them all the same. I give them 30 minutes. If they don't come in the time, the chair is up for grabs.

We tried some new foods, like the Crews Cup Lounge (LOVED the truffle fries), earl of sandwich, and Via Napoli (yummy pizza!) and went to some tried and true favorites like Ohana (though it is just too much food for us, we may not go back our next trip) and we did Cape May Cafe - the BBQ ribs were back (on a Thursday), the crab legs were plenty and delicious, and they have a better selection of desserts - the peanut butter blondies and pistachio cheesecake were big hits with us. Also had ice cream from France pavilion, and drinks around the world. La Cava del tequila is SO popular now, it is one of the longer lines we waited in! Grey goose slushy and welsh dragon are both still my favorites and are both so refreshing. I got a No Way Jose from the to-go menu at Beaches, so you can ask for it! And of course, I had the all time favorite Sunken treasure. So...all in all, we had a fantastic trip!
