My husband and I just booked a brief 3-day trip to Disney for our anniversary. This will be our first time WITHOUT kids! Of course we are going to try and hit all the "adult" rides but what are some of the fun activities, more for adults, that I may not know about? My family is going in October, so this mini-trip is on a small budget. We are only going to Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
My husband is particularly interested in a good place to get breakfast, like a buffet, but NOT character dining :)

Thanks!!

Have you considered trails end, boma, or captains grill for breakfast? Theyre all buffets without characters. Trails End is the cheapest in price btw.

Try the tequila sampler at the bar inside the EPCOT Mexico pavilion La Cava del Tequila
Also, you might want to do the drinks around the world.
Other adult things depends on what you are into:
sports: golf, mini-golf, fishing, RPDE, marathon, bowling, ESPN Club, WWS/ESPN Zone, etc
shopping: DTD, area outlet malls, large scale malls
drinking: Jellyrolls, Raglan Road, monorail tour of resorts, walking tour of resorts in the Boardwalk area
movies: DTD 24 screen theater some with meals served by waiters
night clubbing: Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance, Raglan Road, Citywalk
resort tours: monorail tour of resorts, Boardwalk around the lake tour of resorts, AKL/AKV
offsite: Gaylord Palms Resort, Citywalk, swamp tour

I guess I'm partial to Trail's End as the Fort is my home base ... but they really do have a great non-character breakfast buffet with an excellent staff. It may be a little out of the way, but if you're anywhere near Bay Lake (MK or monorail resorts) in the morning, it's just a boat hop away.

the wave over at the Contemporary -

use to love trails end - but on my last visit - it was a bit to fancy for my taste.

You'll have a great time w/o the kids!!! I know from experience. Make sure to get your HAPPY ANNIVERSARY buttons and wear them proudly. I loved the attention from Cast Members and it was a nice conversation starter with other guests.

Perhaps try a different restaurant at Epcot that you know your kids just wouldn't be into. eg Marrakesh, Tokyo Dining, San Angel, etc. Also do the boat ride from the International Gate at Epcot over to the Boardwalk & back. I would time it for after sunset to really savor the lights at Boardwalk, Yacht Club & Beach Club. Something a bit off track at Epcot might be the Sum of all Thrills. For 2 people, its easier as you can ride together. I would try to do it fairly early in the morning before the line gets long (no fastpass). The two of you design your own rollercoaster together (and there are many mild, easy versions) and then ride side by side in the simulator. Maybe not the most romantic thing ever but nonetheless unique. If you enjoy your margaritas, don't forget the avocado margaritas at La Cava inside the Mexico Pavilion. Probably best to have those AFTER the build your own rollercoaster. Not before. :-)

Go to the Wave at the Contemporary for their breakfast buffet! You absolutely cannot beat the buffet there. It's great for adults, has tons of options, no characters to worry about, and it's typically not very busy. My husband and I have no kids and it's our favorite spot for breakfast anywhere at WDW. Truth be told, it's the only place we eat at more than once in a single trip. :)

I second the drinking around the world. We've gone on several adult trips for our anniversary. It's a completely different place without kids! We love it!

DH and I did our first kid free trip in 17 years this past November. For dining, while we did a handful of character breakfasts, we focused a lot on signature dining for the rest of our meals. We filled in our non-character breakfast days at spots like Kona and GFC.

I know this isn't everyone's thing, but we also did a monorail crawl before heading into MK for a couple of hours. Beyond that, we just did all of the things we wanted to do...from catching more countries in Epcot, him sleeping in a few mornings while I flew solo, and just taking more time to appreciate the little things.
